Yeah, Tito & Patato! I was at that very concert (1980 Montreux) - Montreux always takes place in July for about 2 weeks+, the same year I also saw Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Van Morrison Stanley Clarke, and many more.... I went there every year from '80 - '88 until I moved to NYC. Thanks so much for posting this clip!

George Dalto, was one of the most amazing pianist ever in the latin jazz scene. I knew him personally, and can attest to this man's ability as a musician and soloist. He was nothing short of amazing. Even Hilton would agree were he still around. RIP Dalto, Hilton, TP.
Alfredo de la Fre on violin plays a lot in the way of Jean Luc Ponty....who I remember best from Overnight Sensations with Zappa and a tune called 50/50
"Tito Puente Live at the Montreux" Thats the title I have on the CD or it could be just "live at the montreux" Search it on google Im sure you will find it somewhere.
This would have come out better if it had Jerry Gonzales in conga ,and hilton Ruiz in the piano, dalto and patato are not that great, still i like this version better than irakere!
Gracias.
Wow! this is old stuff. Alfredo de la fe, is a skinny kid here with beard. George Dalto on piano. May he rest in peace. He was the baddest latin jazz pianist ever. For those of you that never heard of this guy or ever got to see him play; this guy can play anything. One of the nicest people too. Sweet man! Argentian I believe he was. And of course the master LP man himself, TP. RIP!
Tan fino y agresivamente decadente sinfonico, mi estilo favorito...
I been dancing to this track for years in London Jazz rooms, so it is great to actually see it being performed (quite surreal in fact). Thanks for posting this.
The LPJE Allstars @ Montreaux perf Bacalao con Pan-a truly awesome audiovisual moment! This is what real music is about.Did the late great Jorge Dalto ever record a bad record(now that's a rhetorical question)! To all those who remember dancin'to this @ Paul Murphy's Electric Ballroom fusion dance sessions circa 1982-84.
