  • Clowns

  • why is it everytime americans insult us fucking no respect

  • @miniviniable They're unaware of how lucky they are to have their country and the amount of history that our country has.

  • Cannot wait to become a Grenadier Guard and do this

  • @o0matthowarth0o these are coldstream guards...

  • @Doulea82 lol you completely destroyed him XD

  • @Doulea82 That sir is one of the best comments I have ever read. Well done

  • I served in the British Army.

The weapons carry live ammunition (sometimes only 10 bullets in the magazine)

They are NOT chambered (cocked, made ready etc..), this is so the soldier can cock the weapon as a method of escalation and warning.

Obviously once the weapon is cocked, it will fire.

  • @BulletFoss its because they're are definately on guard duty , correct?

aswell do the Irish Guard have a frontline regiment?

  • @RalphMarx The Irish Guards ARE a frontline infantry regiment.

In fact, they have a higher percentage of snipers than any other infantry regiment in the British Army.

  • how do they manege to stand like that for hours?

  • @erik818ws 2 hour stags, with a patrol (march up/down) every 15 minutes.

  • @Someloke8895 close but its actually against queens regulations to stand there for more and then 10 minutes-also we patrol when ever our arms go dead lol

  • @Doulea82 Well, that's what I heard from my recruiter who was a Sgt in Queen's Coy, Gren Guards

  • @Doulea82 Stupid question.. but how do you know when 10 minutes has passed? LOL

  • @04smallmj you dont you just guess lol..what i usually do is 5 minutes in my right arm..5 in the left and patrol for 5 minutes..but has the 2 hours drag you start to patrol alot more and longer because your arms feel like they are going to fall off lol

  • @Doulea82 Aah, OK, thanks :-)

  • officers probably happy cos hes going on you tube and doesnt want to be seen giving the squaddie a rifting

  • Are those guns loaded? I saw some comments back and forth, so I wonder... I know that Guards in other countries keeps the magazines loaded, but champer empty, except for the frontgate Guards, which also got a bullet in the chamber....

    Thanx for all replies!

  • @Ruben1994OL yes the guns are real and the ammunition is live, the guards can kill if they are threatened with violence

  • guard maintenance

  • @JamesParkersVids Marge simpsons? those bearskins are a battle trophy awarded to the Grenadier guards for defeating the French imperial guard at The Battle of Waterloo and so all guards wear them as a symbol of victory learn some respect.

  • I love the hats :)

  • @JamesParkersVids Loll :)

  • im sorry and no disrespect to the people overseas but the tomb of the unknown soldier beats the shit out of any other guards

  • @Sandro495 I don't think so.

  • @Sandro495 There's a Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier in about 30 different countries (?)

in the England we have The Tomb Of The Unknown Warrior

  • @Zero7evenX Sorry I meant the tomb of the unknown soldier in Washington DC. Everything that the sentinels have to go through is just amazing

  • black you wrong he is c sgt , i know , i know him

  • I wanna check Maria Sharapova!!

  • @black10872 captain yes RSM no RSM wouldn't be marching around with a rifle and if you look at his right sleeve there are three chevrons on thats a sergeant

  • @FinalFreek thank you

  • @black10872 he is a captain fe in number 7 coy coldstream guards

  • @aimee090981 thank you

  • These elite soldiers are protecting the Queen of England and state property, it is expected they remain looking perfect, they represent our constitutional monarchy and our nation.

  • the "poofy" hat is a trophy from the napoleonic wars.. the french imperial guard wore them... i think

  • what the porpouse of the poofy hat?

  • @BLANCARF to show dignity, humilliation, respect, honor

  • brain wash :( fuck yours queen illuminati

  • @parter23 shut up you you knob

  • 1:03 min you can see jhon kenedy :)

  • a bayonet on that type of rife is weird, but its probly part of the outfit /gear..

  • @chongbong erm...that's the modern rifle, with a modern bayonet...what's weird?

  • @chongbong erm...that's the modern rifle with the modern bayonet, what's weird?

  • I love all the bickering back and forth. LOL It keeps the love between us. There are fat people everywhere; Britain and the States. Just remember: generailites are generally true. I like to make myself an exception, however. I stay in shape, keep an open mind, and never judge.

  • since this was taken there has been installed a fence that restricts people access to the guards area; too many sticky-beak visitors interferring.

  • ... too much touching for me!

    roflmao

  • @67tr876 the reason you havent seen a fat american for 6 weeks is because your mums spending her holidays round mine this year.

  • Just to clear things up... Guardsmen do the same infantry training as ALL infantry regiments in the British Army. The only difference is.. they are guards. They are no less than normal infantry. All go on tours and ALL are full trained by the British Army to fight wherever they need to. Be it Afgan, Iraq etc.

  • @ta1ch1chuan

IIRC, they have 2-3 weeks of extra drill and discipline training.

  • 4 Americans are Jealous of this video

  • @LolFishFail Fuck you and suck a dick. I hope some day the USA will say FUCK THE UK ! AND WE WILL NUKE THE FUCK OUT OF YOU !

  • @67tr876 Nice US American Stereotype your putting on. You do realise that America is practically an invention of the UK. USA copied our language, our Flag Colours and tried to copy our Government infrastructure. You would be heart-attack surprized over the influence Britain has over America.

  • @LolFishFail NO you are the fucks who keep saying that the USA is fat and all this shit your the fucking Stereotype bitch.

  • @67tr876 By "you are" your meaning the whole of UK? LOL, you are one of the Stereotypical U.S.Americans that probably never leaves the country, yet judges every other country, I have been to USA 5 times in my lifetime. I am Welsh and found that 9 / 10 people I talked to didnt believe Wales was a Country. I have a British accent almost everyone asked me when I spoke to asked "Are you from England???" and I would say "No, I'm Welsh". They would look like they just got mindfucked and say "what?".

  • @LolFishFail I dont hate all of you. I just hate the Stereotype ones who say the USA is full of fat ass dumb Americans. Well i got news for you ! I have not seen one fat ass in 6 weeks ! ya there are some hear some there but NOT ALL OF US ! What am trying to get at is why cant the UK and USA just be freands ? we helped you and you helped us. Come on ?

  • @67tr876 To be honest with you, you really have to go out of your way to find a U.S.A stereotypical British Person. America is a nation of fatties face it, you invented McDonalds and the Drive thru atm, wtf???

U.S Americans generally are dumb, only a minority of americans actually know what they are talking about. I bet you couldn't name more than 5 European Countries on the spot, or their capitals. seriously just do some youtubin and googlin' and you'll find all that you need.

  • @LolFishFail ya right dude i dont care what you say your just an ass hole !

  • if you punch one, are going to arrest you or are they just going to stab you?

  • @Poya0174 they will arrest you unless you poseee like a serious threat and have to do somthing like that.

  • @Poya0174 probably wont arrest you, beyonet ya maybe. definitely fuck you up though

  • they aint london guards either they are irish guards if u wana be correct about everything

  • if someone actually decided to like attack these places i really think some guards would die like they assume no ones a threat people get so close like just stand next to the guy act like im takin a picture BAM bust out a gun and shoot him! what are they gonna do

  • @Xuntouchable03 they cant do shit as they are ceremonial guardsman. Different story if you point a gun at one of them in Afghanistan

  • @Littlewolf88 dude they arent gonna sit there and watch those guns are loaded and ready to go. They are guardsmen as you said they guard the castle. im simply saying in the beginning they would lose a few

  • @Littlewolf88 They are the Queens! Guards! They are to protect the Monarchy and if anything poses a threat to the Monarchy, They will take action. It's apart of being a "Guard".

  • @LolFishFail mate dont dictate to me what a Guardsman is.

As a ceremonial soldier they have to be watched by the police in case the public wishes to abuse them because they have to keep absolutely still and controlled (not for the guardsmans protection, as the guardsman will retaliate!).. off duty or on ops they will fuck anyone up indiscriminately if either themselves or their colleagues were under threat. trust me i've worked with em

  • @Littlewolf88 Wow ! chill dude, I thought you were american thats all xD!

  • @LolFishFail lol fair one

  • does anyone know the weight of that rifle? i'm not so familiar with British made rifles

  • @need1992 It is called an SA80. It weighs 3.82 kg empty and 4.98 kg with SUSAT sight and loaded 30 round magazine.

  • badass coats

  • I'd love to see what one of those hats look like inside. I have to wonder how heavy they are. If they are essentially hollow, I bet it is like wearing a sail on your head in a high wind.

  • @VictorLepanto

The interior of the bearskin cap is indeed hollow. The bear fur is wrapped around a wicker cage/frame.

It is surprisingly less likely to be blown off than a peaked cap. This is because of the way it is fitted and worn, wearing one too long will make your head quite hot and you might feel as if the cap band is shrinking on your head. Not to mention that it weighs in at a couple of hundred grams short of a kilogram.

  • why they look old looking and why can't they move or speak?

  • WHO CARES!!!!!

  • the guns are not loaded while on gaurd, the only fire arms are in the gaurd room. soldiers dont carry life rounds when they are on sentry duty.;

  • That almost looks like a West Point uniform.

  • @jimmyboo12 or the west point uniform looks alot like the brittish gaurds uniform lol.

  • if any one reading this is planning a trip to london to see these guards might i sugest you get your selves a history lesson on them first before showing up and attempting to mock them.. show some respect people. we brits would in your country. try to do the same!!

  • they shudnt be inspecting the guys in front of tourists like that, doesnt seem professional somehow.

  • the officer is probably in a rush, it happens. unless thats how they do it .. you have to remember too. its not for the public. its a very real thing they are doing not just some show.. thats how its been done for over 300 years for all the guards regiments. part of dicepline is bout takeing care of your kit and your self. if you slack in that will you slack on the battlefield too. slackin on a battle field will cost lives.

  • yeah but it makes more sense to inspect them before sending them out on parade, dont you think?

  • @kris130186 the inspection is done for the public now.

  • @kris130186

For sentry changes, the guards are indeed inspected by a superior which would usually be a lance-corporal or lance-sergeant.

For the official Changing of the Guard ceremony, the entire parade, which includes the new guard and the band, is inspected by the Captain of the Guard and often accompanied a few senior NCOs.

The inspection you see being carried out in the video is a 'spontaneous' thing. It normally happens if there are soldiers on public duty for the first time.

  • In the end, whether or not the Captain of the Guard wants to carry out a sentry inspection is entirely up to him.

  • At certain points in the day, the senties will be inspected either officially or unofficially by their superior. In this case it was by the detachment commander (a senior officer), so he was escorted by the detachment sergeant (red sash). The officer doesn't have to speak to the guard, but it is in the posting orders that the senties will not speak to anyone but dignitraies or superior officers. The officer speaking to the sentry was most likely to check on him, give him an update, etc.

  • lol they look like the witches guards in the wizard of oz :P

  • That's what I was thinking!!!! LMAO!

  • @spotdathief All we Know, we owe her,All we Know, we owe her,All we Know, we owe her,All we Know, we owe her,

  • @bxistris haha

  • shit if i saw two guards come up to me like that i'd shit myself..

  • What do you think he would do if i tryed to knick his gun?

  • Probably grab you and arrest you if he's allowed.

  • damn! i want a gun

  • he is allowed. not only that the guard opposite to him will most likely light you up.

  • @airsoftjunkie2 arrest you, they are guards they don't just stand still all the time xD it is their job to defend the palace and themselves

  • probably stab you with it, i would love to see you try :)

  • @wannos27

What do you say about respect? Brits tourists don't show respect for other people...When you go to other countries the only thing you do is getting drunk and disturb people. So, don't try to give courtesy rules to us.

  • @sushimasagrancanaria fine then go mock them and you will see why i said to show some respect, its not unknown for these solidiers to retaliate to disrespect. they are doing a very real job with a very real weapon as very real sioldiers. and if they do decide they dont like your actions you will be the first to know about it. be my geust, learn the hard way. i was one of those gaurds and ive put a few tourists on their arses. ;) peace brother ignorance is not a virtue.

  • These are not ceremonial soldiers, they are actve soldiers, many of whom have or will be in Afghanistan soon. So yes, they should get some respect.

  • Are ya Mad?? its not a Gun..Its A Weapon...A Rifle..A gun is Artillery Guns, Light Gun AS90 etc etc ;)

  • To us civilians, the term 'gun' covers a wide range of meanings.

  • this is my weapon, this is my gun. one is for shooting, the other for fun.

  • @IC2720 well said!

  • @Banno22 my platoon sgt used to say that all the time ;)

  • oh they're loaded. even if they aren't ha... that bayonet's still real.

  • his gun isnt clean....shoulda used a rubber

  • @donvito4221 They bayonets will not be sharp though. It is against the Geneva convention to keep a sharpened bayonet in Britain. (Unless we're invaded of course)

  • @willchmbt the bayonete doesn't need to be sharp its a stabbing weapon not a cutting one

  • @25195230 Its both actually. But you're right, it probably will still hurt.

  • @25195230 and the breaking of ribs and bones are gunna hurt as it goes in anyway.

  • Their guns are loaded, they are serving soldiers. What typically happens if you touch one of the Queens Guardsmen, is that they stamp their foot, and lower their rifle to a 45 degree angle, pointing the bayonet at you, while shouting extrememly loudly;

"Step away from the Queens Guard!"

Then they march up and down, a bit, with their bayonet lowered slightly, to about 45 degres

  • i thought they for just for show, i didnt know they were loaded , i thought the queens guards were a ceremonial thing

  • For a while they were ceremonial, but after a chap managed to get over the fence at Bukie Palace, the Army insisted on gaining a greater role in protecting the Queen and Royal Family. They are now armed, and mean business.

  • well, didn't that fool get all the way into her bedroom???? i bet a lot of people got sacked over that one.

  • Yes, I do believe there were.

  • i was in jr high, around 12 or 13 when that happened, and i am in the states. but i can remember it, that and the fool who flew into red sqare from germany.

  • Mathias Rust, oh yea, that brings back memories. LOL!!!!!!!!

  • i always joke that i miss the cold war. the ussr wasn't going to blow us up and we weren't going to blow them up. things were a lot more interesting.

  • yep, I remember them days fondly ;-) imagine a six year old boy (me) scared to death the commies were going to bomb us, and wondering how "duck and cover" under our school desks would save me from the atomic bomb. yep, those were the days :-))))))

  • i guess i grew up in the 70's and 80's, so i missed the duck and cover days. my mom grew up in central florida, so during the whole cuban missle crisis, they worried about being blown up.

  • @tranurse but the USSR had plans ready for an invasion of Britain.

  • well, we had plans to invade east germany, so we were even. noone was ever going to act on them. i didn't say that there wasn't danger, just that people do silly things when they think god is involved, i.e. terrorists.

  • Indeed, at first they were not at all ceremonial, then they were very, but now, they are partly ceremonial but they provide a real role in ensuring the safety of HM the Queen.

  • @TheLordCurzon My Uncle was a guardsman in the 90s and he said they don't load them any more.

The Bayonet thing is right though.

  • @TheLordCurzon

Wow, thanks for the info! :)

  • @TheLordCurzon how do you know that?

  • @5NOOPY615

I saw it happen at the Tower of London, and a friend saw a very similar reaction at St James'es Palace. Though we disagreed on whether they said "Step away" or "Stand away".

  • @TheLordCurzon is there a video that shows it happening?

  • @TheLordCurzon but in the end....

  • i think i'll leave them dudes alone. rounds or norounds; they are dedicated to guarding the free world and the Queen. i think i'll keep my nuts thank you. LOL

    one smart yankee

  • but jim he can skewer our yankee balls on that bayonette!

  • omg those covers are ridiculous and a hinderence....

  • @Burnz2much r u talkin about the dust cover on the breech?? it is a stupid design flaw of the SA-80 for sure!

  • no, talking about those fucking ridiculous hats lmao....

  • The dust cover was possibly the dumbest invention in the history of the world. Why would you design a gun to be used in combat that needed a dust cover, for crying out loud. I got back from a night hike lugged one of those things along. When I got back to my basha I just threw it on the floor, yelling osmething along the lines of "Stupid, unnecessarily heavy piece of crap!"

  • i'm not sure but i think this is one of the other royal places and not buck house,

  • if you stand behind them out of their sight, how do they know that you're not coming up behind them and attack them etc?

  • would you attack a guy who's holding a rifle that's got a sharp ass bayonett on the end of it? I sure as hell wouldnt

  • Because you dont have the balls to attack them

    thats why

  • they'll have 30 rounds loaded only in the desert do u load with less u tend to load the bottom of the mag with sand then load 25rounds on top helps with stoppages

  • of course they have rounds (bullets) in the gun you Yankie!

  • ok so tell me this... what is the point of all these guards??? do they even have bullets in them guns???

  • They all have the right to shoot if anyone tries to break into the places they are guarding, so I'd guess they carry ammunition, but I'm not sure. But I know that if u mess with them, they'll give you one hell of a beat down...

  • They carry a full battle loaded magazine of 30 rounds of beautiful 5.56 mm. So i say yes they do carry ammunition.

  • Probably 28/29, they tend to jam alot more with 30 rounds in em ;)

  • 30 is just the combat load they probably do have it at about 29. Although with the new L98A2 they dont jam as much.

  • What do you think a guard does?

    Sit around and look fancy?

As the name suggests, they guard.

  • Thats actually what I thought to be quite honest with you!

They stand around, look fancy and for show... so tourists have a look at the English past and tradition. My bad

  • No they don't! They're still professional soldiers with a realistic job to do! Take a look at the "Guard hits toursit" video to see the crap they have to endure and how they are trained to deal with it!

  • they are great for tourism

  • Omg the officer cheching him is like a brigadier general

  • Actually I beleive it is a Captain that is Inspecting him.

  • Yes that is correct, Captains have 3 gold pips on their shoulder straps.

  • thats because they defeated them at the battle of waterloo and nicked thier uniforms, hence Grenadier Guards

  • Does anyone know the weight of those bearcaps?

  • Not that heavy- about the same weight as your combat helmet. The problem is the height of the things- makes it feel heavier than it is, especially when you do a right, left or about turn, and it doesn't always feel very stable!
