She turned around, making a LEFT ARC, and somehow drifted to far left, and made contact with it. She claims not to remember, and looks like nobody saw it, so, people, don't be so quick to judge her and call her names. Which you should not be saying anyway.
It looks like she has a habit of not looking to see where she is going. If you examine her out 1:42 in the video, you will see she goes into the door with her head turned away from the door. She isn't looking in the direction of where she is going.

She's a friend of a woman I know who works in the same office building. It was very loud and dark that night at the airport. She was going back to thank the pilot and didn't see the prop. She's a devoted mom and sweet lady. Let's be nice.

When they train aircraft handlers they have to tell them not to look into the spinning blades because it can be mesmerizing. Having spent numerous hours in a helicopter,and fixed wing the pilots I fly with al give a safety lecture before the flight, The rear blades and the main blades on a heli and the prop on the fixed wing are ALWAYS BROUGHT INTO THE SAFETY LECTURE, in many cases (but not all) experienced people are on hand to lead people safely away from the craft. First of all, lets hope she makes a speedy recovery. Secondly, someone should have "guided" her in the proper direction to make sure she wasn't injured. I have been around propeller powered aircraft and I am always watching the prop to make sure I am away from it. Thirdly, these accidents do happen. In WWII at least two people were killed at the former Pueblo Army Air Base (now Pueblo Memorial Airport[PUB]) and a fellow high school student walked into a spinning prop back in the 1970s.

The pilot should have restricted departure from the aircraft until the prop had stopped. As the pilot you are in charge of the aircraft at all times. Perhaps they didn't wait. The investigation should determine why this happened. What a bummer.

What a nightmare scenario. Hopefully she will be able to rebuild her life. When I was a kid, my Mom always told me private planes were bad news. A commercial plane has an entire flight crew yoked up to it while a private craft has only the pilot and MAYBE a few ground support staff. Frankly I blame the pilot for this horrible event. He really should have made sure his passenger knew the deal about getting out of and away from the plane.

Having spent numerous hours in a helicopter,and fixed wing the pilots I fly with al give a safety lecture before the flight, The rear blades and the main blades on a heli and the prop on the fixed wing are ALWAYS BROUGHT INTO THE SAFETY LECTURE, in many cases (but not all) experienced people are on hand to lead people safely away from the craft. I hope the lady is well, and I hope the pilot gave a safety lecture. Rob From Canada

First of all, lets hope she makes a speedy recovery. Secondly, someone should have "guided" her in the proper direction to make sure she wasn't injured. I have been around propeller powered aircraft and I am always watching the prop to make sure I am away from it. Thirdly, these accidents do happen. In WWII at least two people were killed at the former Pueblo Army Air Base (now Pueblo Memorial Airport[PUB]) and a fellow high school student walked into a spinning prop back in the 1970s.

How the fuck does someone walk into a plane propeller... people have NO respect for machinery, even the most non-danger-looking tool can easily smash ones teeth out if you're not careful when using them, same goes for heavy machinery and common threats from fast moving objects in general.. hjeez what an idiot!

She clearly was dumb as hell! If you have ever been in a small plane like this, the Propellers do make a wisking noise as they are winding down. A noise that ANYONE could hear, and avoid. She was just stupid and its her fault and no one elses. She was eaither Dumb as hell, or like the top poster said "On her cell phone". You NEVER hear of these stories ever! So frick her!

I think some psychological damage was done if not some phobia was instilled in you by her. I also grew up near a private airport and the biggest problem they have is planes having problems that have crashed into the surrounding homes at an alarming rate. Still, I have no issues with them. Unless the pilot drove the plane into her in a manner in which she wasn't able to get out of the way I wouldn't sit here and just cast all blame on him without knowing all the facts. So unless he did that

This is different from being hit by a car. When that happens, the other car is moving and surprises you. What makes this different is she knew exactly where that propeller was. If she had been paying any attention, she wouldn't have walked into it.

I've experienced where alot of people who think of themselves as pretty assume that a Car can't knock them down or some other thought like that so this might be just an unfortunate side effect of an over inflated ego and carelessness.

Viewing Christmas lights via airplane is the dumbest thing ever. How low did they have to fly in order to actually see the lights? That certainly doesn't seem safe. It would seem safety went out the window on this flight. Maybe the pilot had OTHER things on his mind. I guess driving in a car like the rest of us rabble was just too normal and easy. Probably wouldn't have the same impact on the hot blonde either I guess.

@ANGELSRAGE77 actually yes we lived close to a small private airport. I never saw an actual crash; only the wreckage, ambulances and crying relatives. Private planes are just silly unless you travel alot. I also absolutely blame the pilot. He should know that getting hit by a prop is something the average person does not think about. He should have told her how to get out and where to walk in order to avoid getting mained by the prop.

I would hope that it would be a given that a person should stay as far away from a spinning propeller as humanly possible lest risk severe trauma. Kinda like never sticking your hand in a garbage disposal or walking down dark alleys at night, you just don't do it. I understand that people have accidents but damn man. Would you go near a moving propeller or move away from it?

@Mattseeley1987 I'll tell you exactly why folks should be reminded of the danger of a moving propeller. You see, alot of folks move through life thinking they are above all the bad stuff out there. They think bad things only happen to folks on the news and take zero precaution. Thats where safety procedures come into play and hopefully prevent horrors such as this. The pilot should have been aware of this and given exact instructions as to where to walk.

A running plane engine makes noise does it not? Surely one could also feel the direction of air movement right? You can also see a propeller turning at high speed. So how in the hell does someone walk into an airplane propeller? I mean WTF! How do you not notice something like that? Do people just wander blindly across the street too? People need to be more aware of their surroundings because if they aren't this shit is bound to happen and its nobody's fault but theirs.

The pilot should have restricted departure from the aircraft until the prop had stopped. As the pilot you are in charge of the aircraft at all times. Perhaps they didn't wait. The investigation should determine why this happened. What a bummer.

What a nightmare scenario. Hopefully she will be able to rebuild her life. When I was a kid, my Mom always told me private planes were bad news. A commercial plane has an entire flight crew yoked up to it while a private craft has only the pilot and MAYBE a few ground support staff. Frankly I blame the pilot for this horrible event. He really should have made sure his passenger knew the deal about getting out of and away from the plane.
