what waste of meat why slaughter the elk when they can just throw the fucking sick elks "meat" to the wolves at least the wolves are gonna have a full belly!!!!!
Conrad burn is mother fker that wants to eliminate every wild population of animal to please his sugar daddy big meat corporation ... fking GOP traitors
Yes mako so true...its all about grazing rights...funny in montana if a calf get Positive test and has to be put down the state pays the rancher for the calf...i wish I had that deal.
@101bluebuddy - Alot of good that does, because now they are starving . The Wolves are dieing from starvation and being shot . 25 were killed around one town in Idaho 2 weeks ago . A female was shot right in Pot latch Idaho a month ago .
@101bluebuddy - I kill Wolves to Save Wildlife , Sarah Palin kills wolves to save wildlife anyone normal kills Wolves to Save Wildlife . Like I said you are one of " Them" !
They forgot to mention that why dont you vaccinate the cattle...they dont in montana...every other state does...montana cattle men camplain of the cost....5 dollars a head....so the state pays for all this herding and everything else..cattle men =0 federal and state taxes out of your pocket=yes
@Dojocho because brucilosis from elk to cattle is impossible the same as from Buffalo. It;s ;;merely a ploy from ranchers to push for less competition on grazing land. Nothing more
why dont you just tranqualize them and then pull blood to test for the disease. Then attach a GPS tag to them to track any elk that turn up positive for the disease.
i dont believe they should slaughter them, just keep them in a good place, and treat them right, slaughtering especially on an educated guess is wrong!
I see where your going with this and I too agree that it is not the most ideal situation. I personally live in an area where the prions (chronic wasting disease) is rampid and it is sad to see what the disease does to the animals. It is essentially what is says a slow and painful death were the animal eventually succombs to the disease. They need a more efficient test.
How quaint the term, "to check out potentially infected elk", we are a stupid people and for them to die needlessly is a mark on our souls. I agree with diane18944. Leave them alone. Go experiment on yourselves.
Why don't we leave them along. This disease has been with them for centuries. It is how wild animals weed out and kept there population down. They don't need man to help. We are paying for this...people are sleeping in the streets and we are experimenting millions of dollars experimenting..slaughter. We are sick people. The elk take care of themselves. The more humans get involved the more disease is out there it is from us. Stupid people
They caught 1,000 so far and killed 100. 1 out of 10. And many died while they were being captured... and there is no assurance that it will eradicate the disease in the wild... How much money is spent on that? How much danger of reducing the gene pool? And all for no real benefit!... Did I understand this correctly? It just makes no sense! And all of that to protect cattle, who "may" get the disease from wildlife. This is the price of your burgers, meat eaters!

Where did Chronic Wasting Disease come from?
Is this another scientific experiment gone array?

I wonder what they will do now that "Chronic Wasting Disease" has been found in a new area in Wyoming.

Another brilliant plan by our government agencies to kill wildlife and protect cattlemen. More millions in welfare for ranchers and hunters.
