  • Again and again, thank you to ALL the marshalls all over the world; I love them !!

  • i saw this crash with my own eyes i was at the chicane - saftey car was out for nearly an our glad the marshals ok

  • thank you for this this video, i was marshalling farm at the time of this and all on post was freaked out by this as we only listened to commentary on radio to what is happening and was quite worried about going on track rest of that night! but wish him all the best and does not scar the mind of the drivers. but well done for completing the full 24hrs and hope to see you on britcar 24hr 2012 i believe in sept.

  • As an ex-course pits/fire marshal, I'm totally one everyone's wavelength. I've seen / known too many marshals who got injured and/or killed over the years..

  • Very scary indeed Malc, I know exactly that feeling of sliding off on oil...at that speed...at that corner....actually about 20 secs before this! Infact as you already know it was my oil you spun off on! Am massively releaved you, the Ginetta driver and ofcourse the marshall were ok, racing would be literally impossible without their awesome support, look forward to next years 24 hrs and a more straight forward run

  • Holy shit :O

That marshall is definitely lucky to have escaped, wishing him a speedy recovery!

  • Wow this is scary indeed. Marshals did everything right one spotting the other but a car coming at that speed could have been worse. True heroes wear orange

  • cool.

  • Ive said it before and ill say it again our marshals are the best in the world. Without them we couldnt go racing! I would personally thank each and every one if i could.

  • Goosebumps watching that, very scary position to be in all round. the noise of that G50 incoming must of been an eyes closed and pray moment. Im so glad to here the marshall is on the mend top respect for what they do :)

  • Glad to see he is recovering well. The marshals are all true heros and can never get enough praise.

  • One car following another off on oil isn't a particularly unusual circumstance, so perhaps at this part of the circuit the marshals shouldn't be attempting a recovery without safety car cover?

  • @V96GLF - Russell, AFAIK they didn't know it was oil at that stage, very difficult to see on track. If you look at the time (top right) you will see about a minute passes which I cropped out, this was when they were trying to push me out. No other cars went off (although i'm told a BMW did a bit further round (out of sight). It was just that I and the Ginetta were unlucky that we ran our front tyres over grippy tarmac and rear wheels over the oil.

  • thats pretty scary

  • Wow!

  • Incredible video! Hairs are standing up all over me!

  • All the best to the marshall(s) involved in this incident, motorsport wouldn't exist without you guys... you do a greta job.

  • Wow - that was super insane and only happens on the telly, to people you don't know. Glad you're okay Malc, and I wish the marshall a speedy recovery too.

  • glad this man is ok, marshals are geat guys

  • Was injured a couple of weeks back after being hit by a tire laucnhed skyward by a kart. You don't realise how much a Touring Car Tyre weights till it clobbers you in the upper body. Glad to hear the marshall here is on the road to recovery

  • WHOA, that took me totally by surprise even though I've read the description box before hand

  • Have heard a hell of a lot about this. Speedy recovery wished to the marshal. From a marshal

  • Quite scary video, good to hear the marshal is recovering, had heard about this. Have ticked to show my appreciation for those guys.

  • Scary moment indeed. :D Thats the closest you can get to racing via youtube! But one question... you race in that Civic pretty often... is there a data sheet or something to get information about the specs?

  • @Brixxlnator - I've raced the Civic in a number of 24hr races but it's a hire drive so I don't have details specs. It is 'Production' Spec however so all engine internals are standard, only induction, exhaust and ECU map (power the VTEC cutin) is changed. I imagine it's around 200bhp and around 1250-1300kgs. We run on slicks, suspension and brakes have obvioulsy been upgraded.

  • @MaxxUK Wow, fast answer! Thanks a lot! Sorry for not asking for the marshalls condition but as I read that he is recovering well I jumped to ask for some technical information. I was taken by surprise when you left the track... scary. All of this.

  • i beleive our uk marshalls are the best in the business total repect to you for holding off posting and i wish the marshall a speedy recovery

must been a scary situation to be in

  • Wow incredible just how fast it can all happen, even with the other marshall keeping watch it's just so quick how things turn.

Respect for taking the time and effort to check before posting. Admirable.

Glad you were spared injury, and prayers for the injured marshall on a speedy recovery.

  • Awesome video, really interesting to hear the driver talking afterwards etc, just glad the Marshall is fine

  • @SerialKIillerrr - Yes, surpised I was so calm, scariest moment for me in over 20 years of racing.

  • Holy crap, that was rough. Glad the marshall is ok.
