@chris12123212 superchargers have spur gears. reverse has spur gears. what you're hearing is the spur gears. in drive, the gears are helical.

i would get sick of the sound that thing makes too quickly, turbos are the way to go, super chargers are dinosaur technology, you have to sacrifice power to make power! and then it runs out of boost in the higher RPM

i have to agree with you on the sound, that would drive me crazy.

but in no way are superchargers any kind of dead technology. they're intended for lower rpm engines. you said all the power is lost at the higher rpm, but that doesn't really factor in when you have a v8 that reaches its power curve at 3500-4500 rpm. so the supercharger isn't really "dinosaur technology" unless you consider bigblocks to be in the same boat. it's just very misused on a corolla.
