I saw Landon about to drive away. I ran up to him in said "Hey Landon, I hate to interrupt you, but is it okay if i get an autograph?" and he said "No worries dude" and gaveme an autograph. That autographed ball sits in my room today, and it reminds me of the humble people on the U.S. National Team and Landon Donovan :)

Soccer (football) is currently the most played sport in the U.S. by kids and teens. The quality of American soccer has gone up a LOT since the 1994 World Cup. The MLS is getting to the point where in a few years it will be even better than the Mexican League which has produced very good players. The U.S. will win a World Cup in 2022 or 2026. GO USA!

That seems highly unlikely. There's no soccer culture in the U.S.. The density of kids playing it is not high enough for scouts to be effective. There are no soccer academies like the Brazilian fafella's or the youth training of Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern that have decades of experience. It often seems like you can get close, but in the past 40 years only 5 countries managed to win a world cup and only 7 ever did.
@sirbyt there are plenty of club teams and academies, granted not as much as there are in Europe agreed, but even where i live, the small state of missouri we have one of the best club teams in the nation, Scott Gallagher Saint Louis (theyve won nationals plenty of times) its just when kids get into high school the sport they turn to is american football. for me soccer was always a sport played in catholic schools and catholic schools are dwindling in the u.s

Soccer (football) is currently the most played sport in the U.S. by kids and teens. The quality of American soccer has gone up a LOT since the 1994 World Cup. The MLS is getting to the point where in a few years it will be even better than the Mexican League which has produced very good players. The U.S. will win a World Cup in 2022 or 2026. GO USA!

The U.S. is trying to get FIFA to let us host the 2022 World Cup and by then the high quality of the American Team coupled with a home team advantage should be enough to get us a title. in my opinion argentina and brazil are better than the U.S., but that is only because they have football deeply ingrained in their culture.

That seems highly unlikely. There's no soccer culture in the U.S.. The density of kids playing it is not high enough for scouts to be effective. There are no soccer academies like the Brazilian fafella's or the youth training of Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern that have decades of experience. It often seems like you can get close, but in the past 40 years only 5 countries managed to win a world cup and only 7 ever did.

@sirbyt there are plenty of club teams and academies, granted not as much as there are in Europe agreed, but even where i live, the small state of missouri we have one of the best club teams in the nation, Scott Gallagher Saint Louis (theyve won nationals plenty of times) its just when kids get into high school the sport they turn to is american football. for me soccer was always a sport played in catholic schools and catholic schools are dwindling in the u.s

personally i dont like dempsey, but i do think hes a better player than donovan. Charlie Davies is one heck of a player. Donovan will not play longer in the Premiere league than maybe 2-3 years, they like him at everton for the revenue making ex: sellin donovan shirts. hes replaceable At this pt of the season hes had a similar impact to JO wen he moved to everton for the 2nd half of the season. Americans believe that athletes are to play soccer, yes there is that common discussion of what if our best athletes played soccer. Yet, there is more to soccer, intelligence & technical ability are key parts, and athletic ability is third. Being a former college player, my brother is a current, and having family playing for my respective national teams. Ive been around it a long time.
