I was introduced to C93 one late evening by of all things, a thug. I believe I was 22. He had to be about 20. My GF and I were smoking with him and he said, "You want to hear something wild while we get high?". By this time, I was already listening to The Cure. This blew my mind. My GF, being the hypocrite bipolar Christian she was, called it evil and demanded it off. He gave me the tape. I've listened to the tape at least 2 times every year since. That was 2000. C93 doesn't let go of your head.
@jenniferjjjx I checked out that song. Disappointing. It sounds like so many other songs. It is nothing like Current 93 (who no one sounds like), maybe because he can sing. Or maybe it has too much structure or conventional instruments/arrangement. I want to listen to other bands like CURRENT 93 but it always ends up being the bands Tibet collaborates with or likes: Nature and Organisation, Nurse With Wound, Death In June et al.
I don't mean to offend, but is this "singing"? He always sounds like he's just reading dramatic poetry and not singing. The vocal is nearly the same in most C93 stuff that I've heard (several albums). I just wish he'd mix it up more and get a vocal melody going. It just sounds like a poetry reading with music underneath it. Still, I'm a fan. Just not blown away.
I wrote this personal ad in a Seattle paper(The Rocket)....this beautiful gothic woman answered my ad...she introduced me to Current93, and this song.
Death in June isn't that far off right as it seems (through their iconografy/symbolism and such) it seems to me that he instead of being a fascist indeed follow the path of socialism, National-Bolshevism. But I could be wrong.
Yes, I also get the feeling that Douglas P.'s political sentiment are, in truth, nothing more or less than evolved Socialism, or the "New New Right" as he has called it; however, when analyzing the Statist nature of non-anarchist Socialism, the "left right" dichotomy begins to break down *dot dot dot*
All right now...i listened to at least 8 songs by this band... just because someone said it was EBM...i don t think it is...for me its a little too soft...lyrics are poetic but wimpy..whats with the negativity??? i dont buy it at all..the whole ati-christ thing just a gimmick to sell records...they are stricktle on the corney side...Lucifer over london..gimme a break. ..a gothic love song???come on..pigface jesus was funny though!!
@loftynl what on Earth's 'neo-folk'? It's just plain folk music - Bob Dylan and Nick Drake are modern folk musicians, but nobody refers to them as 'neo-folk'
who dreams in this sad and lonely room, who tolls the bell for the manray and the eye like a strange balloon rising from the warmth of a damaged soul, prick your baby finger and let the pale pink blood stain my lips.i refuse to wait for you in that limbo land,i refuse to wait...

nevertheless the music is great.
