one of the original songs that got me into music. for some reason i havnt really progressed past the 808 state, front 242, ministry era. im 36 and still here.
damm I remember listening to this album, i wasn't able to drive yet. Suck in a small town in rural Arkansas. Crazy to think that people from the other side of the earth was listening to this. This Ablum made me realize the many froms to music aviable.
I thought this tune was the dog's bollocks when I was 17. Now I look back as a grown up its sounds like moronic blippy bleepy shit with no tune. Funny how age does that to you. Brings back memories of happy pill munching days though eh.
oooooo ur in trouble now tht u read this keep reading and something good will happen to u and if u don't the dark world will do very bad things to u A boy named Thomas was walking then he heard a noise in the woods He thought it was just a rabbit so he kept on walking then he saw a flash then died Now that u read this repost this on 10 different Youtube videos in less than 24 hours or you will see a bloody dirty face in the window and he will kill you with a knife HURRY u dont have much time
This song was played in a commercial for a videogame called STREET FIGHTER II on Super Nintendo. The commercial was made in 1993, and I have no idea which version of the song was played in the commercial. The commercial can be seen on Youtube, and the commercial is about 15 seconds long.
It was this tune that switched me from acid house to early '91 '92 hardcore. What a tune!! At the time I listened to this so many times and was amazed!! Little did I know that this tune would lead me on a fantastic journey fueled by class A's and a time of my life I will always look back on fondly!! All resect 808!!
Hey any1 heard of something kind of similar to this.. It sampled Public Enemy heavily, came out about 1987 or 88. It goes, "Yo Chuck, getyaho getyaho, you got-ta, getyaho getyaho, Brothers and Sisters, getyaho getyaho, yeah, getyaho getyaho" Anyone?
this was the SHIT back when it was released im 33 now (like the former poster) and i remember standing in the shop, waiting to get this the day it came out....... MAX volume and then ur going (unless ur dead or deaf)
As John Peel noted, why do people stick their music from their youth in the attic, but keep the books on the book shelf. I for one will alway listening to new cool interesting music.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
sounds bloody good on pot.
This band must have been shit because this album is the only thing of theirs i have heard and there is some classic music on it. It is like Vangelis on Heroin.
For those of us who don't know, L.A. Style was a Dutch electronic dance music duo, founded and produced by radio host Wessel van Diepen, who also created Nakatomi and the very successful Vengaboys.....but what does this have to do with 808 State's "Open Your Mind"? A track I have heard many times before.
I used to DJ for the Pepsi roadshow 1991 we used play this flat out fill the room completely with the smoke machine and we had 4 of the biggest stobe lights you could buy at the time running flat out in darkness. F*ck me they where they good days!
they dont make em how they used too i reckon sumone should cum along and reinvent this whole sound give it alittle modern touch and bring it back to the masses absolutley blinding tunes 808 state
Wow..early rave classic. Havent heard this since the very early 90's. Back when P.L.U.R. was something you lived by. This was so cutting edge at the time. Music like this should be collected.

thankyou! i had this lp, but took it in a record bag to a friends house and then went to the offy for drinks - party later. when we got back, burgled! all gone. even at the time i laughed that they took my record bag, but not the guys shitty stereo.
Thanks for pointing me towards this, Mark! I have yet another question though - it looks simple, but how did you create a video with a single picture? In the future I wish to do the same, I have audio files but no videos and want to get them on YT. Cheers, man.
I dunno yet. But it's possible to upload to YouTube in stero if you don't mind losing video quality - which, in this case, doesn't matter since I'll be only using a static picture. Search YouTube for 'heart soul stereo' and read the info for the video. It's pretty funky.
