  • my crazy hippie teacher used to play this during exams in 8th grade. I didnt appreciate it untill, in high school, another crazy teacher played Celine Dion!

  • @joeygsmom Wow Celine Dion. Why people think she is a great singer is beyond me. Bland and Boring. PETRA ROCKS!!!

  • @donmccullen lol I agree

  • @docisais. the songs come from scripture. Many of us can pull out chapter and verse that these songs come from. Just try us

  • full of shit

  • @docisais dont comeon on this and say that

  • Great song. Very uplifting during these hard times. Great song to sing along and worship the Almighty Lord. He deserves our prasies continously.

  • We are aliens? すばらしい!

    (Awesome!)

  • we are strangers we are aliens we are aliens

  • sound a bit like Pink Floyd.

  • our german sheperds name is petra :)

  • at 3:35...so much left to do! our mission will not fail!

  • Like a lot of you, this was the first Christian rock song I ever heard. The youth group that I belonged to went on a mission to Mexico, spring break in '84. I was a brand new Christian. We didn't have a radio, just a tape player and this tape. We listened from Stockton, CA to Mexico and back. This song struck me so strongly! When we got back I bought the album, and began listening to Christian music. This song brings back some beautiful memories; thank you so much for posting it.

  • To God all Mighty lord let there bemore bands like this one who will bring youth to your shadow thank you for calling me and thank you for petra let the blessings keep on coming!!!!!! Amen!!!!!! in the name of Jesus!!!!

  • This song is one of my mother's favorite, god bless her for great life.

  • THATS THE JAM RIGHT THERE.

  • reunion tour coming, TBN taping Nov 20 look for it on line classicpetra

  • My first favorite PETRA song !

  • This was the first Christian rock song I ever heard 26 years ago.

  • Even if you do not to listen to Christian music, you have to admit they have a very wide range of sounds. I am amazed that they came up with that many songs and each being so unique that very seldom did they ever seem repetitive.

For some reason, the introduction reminds me of a mix between the game Myst + The intro to Van Halen's Jump

  • I love petra, my dad bought my brother and i a video of one of their concerts when i was about 5 yrs old.I havei loved them every since. They make great music for Christ. Everyone of their songs has a beautiful message and is taken straight out of the Bible. God Bless u Petra for your many, many years of service.

  • Love Petra Always DID..since I first heard them..in the late 80s..86-87..My husband at the time..loved their music..I instantly fell for them..Different at the time and era. They were new of their KIND..in music I believe.

  • Very long intro

I never even knew the name of this song, let alone the group. Not sure when this came out, but I somehow remember the chorus!!

I heard it the other day on this Christian radio anniversary. I immediately wrote the name of the group still not catching the title.

All I know that the chorus had such an amazing grove to it, I somehow remembered not just the melody but even the lyrics all these decades. I have no idea how old I was or where I even heard this.

  • I'm a bit younger. 18, actually. When I was about 14, I heard "It Is Finished" on the radio, and remembered the chorus. I looked up the lyrics, and started checking out Petra's other songs.

  • Wow! This is SO COOL reconnecting with these songs of my youth. How can I say thank you enough for making this great playlist? Although I've come to understand that 1981 marked the creation by Tim LaHaye (author of "The Left Behind" series of books) of a super secret, ultra powerful organization together with Rev Moon and ultra ultra powerful organizations to move the world towards their political devious ends. I was caught up in their influence. Research the CNP and the symerian legends :)

  • This song speaks the truth

  • bela musica 10

  • God bless Petra they are truly Good singers for Christ.

  • You said it! Wish they had not stopped singing together.

  • This is one of my favorite songs ever

  • Petra and Daniel Band was a big part of my life in the early 80s.

Good Daniel Band song in this search,

    v=ibAAganR3vo

  • God bless you :) awesome song thanks for posting

  • Mr Slick what news you have the former Petra's members?

  • I have not stayed in touch, mostly because they were always on tour. I never hear from them either, but always count Bob, in particular, as a dear friend.

  • What is Bob up to these days? He is definitely one of the more underrated writers/guitarists.

  • This song is even more significant right now with the rapture coming and our being transported to be with Jesus very soon. ( =

This world doesn't understand us and is hostile toward God because we are aliens and this world is not our home.

  • Man, I could not have said it better myself.

    See you in the Rapture!!!

  • This whole album played a significant role in implanting the Word of God in my heart at a young age. It also was one of the cornerstones to my early exposition to Christian Music.

  • Thanks for this upload! When this song came out I could hear it in my head all the time and I would weave my motorcycle thinking about it. ( = That was a long time ago.

  • Thanks for posting these songs. These were the first christian songs i heard after being saved and they are AWESOME. They were very inspirational to me back then. I havent heard them in a while and they bring back lots of good memories. thanks

  • yes they do

  • we are really not of this world!

  • Read CS LEWIS' last book of Narnia "The LAST BATTLE". The Last chapters shows all the Kids (Kings & Queens, except Susan) in Aslans Country- Heaven. The part I like is they can look down on this world & their Eyes can Focus closely to a specific area to see people up close since their Eyes will adjust to see them Light years away. I think Heavan will be like this part of the book. Also, everyone is strong with perfect younger Bodies.

  • Yes, Everyone will have immortal bodies and eventually we will live where the streets and everything else is made of gold. It's a place with no problems and everyone loves each other because Jesus is LORD. ( = see w3 glorybound net/endoftime php

  • I havent heard this since the early 80's. Thanks for posting it!

  • Your welcome!

  • Entirely done by myself on a Memorymoog, circa 1983. (John M. Slick)

  • Thanks Slick! When i was a little boy, i think this was the song of the heavens open before me. I'm serious...

  • Nicely done. Visions always rendered me pensive - perfect intro to Not of this World.

  • Is this Mr. Slick himself commenting here?

  • Yes.

  • This is the first Petra song I heard when I got saved. It'll always be one of my favorites. Thanks for uploading it.

  • Your welcome! Blessings! UPF

  • I've been looking for this song for a year on youtube, thanks for putting it on,Petra rocks!

  • PETRA rocks!

  • This one is one of the all-time greats of any genre, and any style, but it's especially powerful for its message.

Many times in my Christian life I have felt lonely. This record makes me cry, not necessarily out of sadness, but indeed 'We are Stangers, we are aliens, we are not of this world'. Jesus told us men would hate us, but we must be of good cheer. Soon we will depart from here.

Thinking back on all these years, I just wished I would have been able to be a stronger Christian

  • Thanks for sharing that! Blessings!

  • Thanks to my friend Randy S' who brought me to Christ and to listen to Petra. For that brother I will forever thank you...

  • I say praise the one and only living God and his son Jesus!!!

  • I say Amen!

  • I was 14 when this first came out. Even at that age I realized how deeply spiritual this Albumn and song was. Very encouraging and biblically based. Even amidst newer forms of music that I now appreciate. I always go back to this. Thank You. Peace

  • Very uplifting. I loved this song back when it first came out.

It's good to be able to listen to it again, now any time I want.

    God bless you!
