  • lol this house is amazing

  • nice building

  • What an amazing idea! Now if only a few solar panels were added to generate their own electricity. Still, whoever came up with this idea & design deserves serious awards for innovative thinking & risk taking :)

  • WOW

  • Just breathtaking.

  • protip: don't throw stones.

  • Simply a great example of why architecture is so important to the human experience.

  • Simply a great example of why architecture is so important to the human experience.

  • This is an amazing house!

l wish you had captions b.c l can't hear or decipher

anything they're saying b/c their volume is WAY too low /or/ this music is WAY to loud & totally competes with their extremely low volume!

  • keep clicking along the timeline at 11 seconds and see if you can find the secret message....

  • @goldenavatar1984 Su-----folk-in England, nice place.

  • Don't through rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, amazing.

  • I'd be embarrassed if i live in this house and there's like neighbors next to me. I gotta watch myself when I go to the bathroom...

  • But then again, who would live in a glass house when they're exposed? I don't know.

  • i don't know why, but i would be scared to live in that house. it looks kinda... alive

  • that is totally amazing! i think the house looks kinda ugly though!

  • brilliant

  • song name is: Talvihorros - Save as Helicopters

  • oh, like a foreskin... Got it.

  • It seems a bit extravagant. I do appreciate the solution and I wouldn't mind the theatricality of the whole sleeve moving over the house. I love the idea of being IN the landscape in the way the glass house is. I like that they have made it neo-vernacular architecture and honored the Sussex-style. I guess this is what you can do when have "excess time, capital and enthusiasm," as the owner says. Pretty wonderful, but somehow, what?, too clever? Something rubs me wrong.

  • whats the name of the background song?

  • Talvihorros - Save as Helicopters

  • man that house is begging for a rock to be thrown at it. lol

  • レールが掘ってあるようだが、これだと砂や枝葉などが溜まって掃除しなきゃならん。

    電車のレール方式の方が良さそう。

  • Very radical.

  • That is just really cool. Wish I could come up with ideas like that.

  • cant have pets too, they'll get cut in half while standing or sleeping at the door

  • I guess it's neat... but why not just go outside if you want sunshine? Or like... just build a smaller glass enclosure? Meh. Whatever. It's not my money. Pretty cool though.

  • what if it's freezing cold outside and you'd rather not go out, but still wanted to get all the sunlight?

  • Build an enclosed patio.

  • that doesn't satisfy the brief of being able to stay in the same building whilst you change surroundings from completely enclosed to completely open.

  • It's not completely open; You're still inside. It's just financial, engineering and architectural wankery. Interesting wankery, but let's not pretend this is something it isn't.

  • Use natural light for half the day is excellent ambiental idea!, I like this proposal

  • its fucking horrible and based on vanity

  • What song specifically is that?

  • I just keep imaging, something will get caught between the doors, an arm, a leg, or a neck ..... haha ... not the adults, but what about the kids

  • it doesn't move very fast at all.

  • I worked on the house and it was a brilliant project and he was a top client. but bloody cold lol

  • old school friend ? lol

  • lol the sound that plays along with this video kinda makes the house creepy

  • Convertible cars, now convertible houses?

    Brilliant idea.

  • werided out! O O O

  • looks dangerous.

    dangerously awesome.

  • this dude is rich

  • Also, where can i get a copy of this music? or was it made specifically for this clip?

  • You can buy Talvihorros's album from a variety of place, atm I know for a fact it is stocked on norman records, check their site if interested. Probably available a few other places though

  • I second that, I wanna know too, it was great!

  • i simply love this house, simple idea with great thinking,. and what a execution... truly radical..

  • Simply brilliant

  • Brilliant design, like a huuman penis with it's foreskin ready to pull back and expose the house when the sun shines!

  • excellent analogy.

  • wtf

  • Awesome Idea!!!

  • that is F***ing insane!!!!

  • Radical in every sense of the word

  • LOL WUT

  • INSANE!

  • beautiful music...

  • where can i find this music?

  • I need to live in that house....damn.....

  • That would fit in so nice near the river here in Oz. Especially at night with clear skies. Would love to see it for real not just the film

  • genius

  • Seems like something i'd like to live in if i was retired.

  • Where do you see me say anything negative???I'm saying it's something i would live in if i was retired.

  • I don't believe in gods.

  • But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

  • Oh damn that's rich.

I really hope you aren't trolling.

  • seems like something i'd like to live in if you'd SHUT THE HELL UP

  • You're efforts at making this stop are counter productive.

  • that's pretty incredible

  • You must have a pretty mis-shapen penis ToimintaMies, if it resembles a high arched country home.

  • you say it takes 6 mins

what if it randomly starts rainging

  • Absolutely brilliant! I love it.

  • wow! great idea! it looks very stylish!

  • Awesome...

  • test

  • test

  • it is like a penis

  • i love how its in the middle of no where and the guys kind of weird?!!

  • Nice house, but the architect seems to be a prick.

  • Yh he did look a bit cac'd up

  • neat

  • What a beautiful home! I want it right NAO! :-) heh

  • These sorts of projects tend to grow old and boring after the novelty wears off. Then you begin to wonder why you spent your money on something like it. You could just go outside.

  • Only if you are giving away free hard core porn....

  • Amazin..

  • "we are prepared to be radical" indeed these words fit perfectly

  • oh right didnt know that, it does seem that everything causes cancer these days!

  • I was waiting for a Space shuttle to take off inside off it right at the end...

    :)

  • creative, I like it

  • I agree on that. :D Beauty is sometimes much of a waste in the funcional sense.

LOL If we could have started the debate like this! XD Anyways, thanks for giving me some thought food this past days. I actually kind of like you now :D

  • Cool & intresting, fascinating.

  • You should have gone on grand designs and had an entire show dedicated to this. Very cool house.

  • that is one cool as house i want it and it looks huge

  • LOL Agreed about my spelling...XD

NP I don't get things personally and certanily there is no anger..I have strong opinions too, so yeah...no offense intended either.

Now...you did get me thinking on the whole issue on the sustainability. I agree, we need to do a lot on that area. And I also agree that it was designed for someone else. It is interesting, it has lots of awsomness! But no, I don't think it's beautiful. D: I know, slap me. :D

  • Hmm, such an innocent video getting some serious anger...curious. Anyway, I like the house and find it quite fascinating. I especially like the way the outside environment seems to mesh with the inside of the home when the roof is off...very out there and radical but also quite livable.... well suited to a colder climate. It must be great to have the money to be a dreamer and risk taker and step outside the confines of mediocrity, for most of us though that is an impossibility.

  • You apparenly need some serious grammar and spelling lessons. First: as I said, I don't deny the technical merits of this. Sustainable design is indeed necesary these days. And certainly it is a huge merit to do a moving roof.

Second: As I said I am not an architect but I would NEVER live there. So, I'm speaking from my opinion, based in what I like as a common person.

As I said, I AM NOT IMPRESSED. There are other sustainable houses more impressive than this, for me.

  • Third: I am not a moron, but apparently you are because you can't express your opinion as a civilized human being. Or at least, as someone who went to school. Are you an architect? If so, how the hell did you get your degree with that hideous spelling? If not, I quote you: You said you're not an architect, so stop trying to have an opinion with no basis, you moron. :D

    Have a nice day.

  • Yeah, know what you mean. Where's the flocked wallpaper, Horse brasses, & floral carpet ???

  • Don't worry mate. Ki is a prick. Just ignore him. Trust me or he'll go on about some shit about your dad and you. Trust me. Just don't start a fight with this douche.

  • OMFG! I have to use that word! Tryna. Such good grammar. Can't someone even leave a comment without you fucking swooping down and raping them.

  • that just won the game

  • i want 2 earn and save my money(that burns), so i can build a rocket ship & fly 2 Mars so i can c wot's all tha way up there.

  • Love this house. Interactive, graceful and best of all playful. It maintains the "country" vibe and still is modern.

  • This is the type of architecture I always wanted to see manifest as a reality, I am not architect (unless you count notebook sketches of secret compounds) but I do so love things like this, so simple yet so effective.

  • It wasn't intended to be a "show house" in order to sell the design. Both the owner AND the architect stated that the owner wanted something different and they spent 12 months coming up with designs until they created this. This was a one-off, and I'm not entirely sure why people are so pissed off about it. They didn't build it for YOU. And for those making the nasty "money" comments, if you earn & save your money, you can do whatever the fuck you want with it, too. Don't judge those who do.

  • Must be nice to have money to throw around

  • that is incredibly awesome

  • Yes, it reminds me of the movie about Tower Bridge London, where someone who is running from the police, nearly gets squashed when the bridge opens -the fellow is in the plant room of the bridge.

    .

Or that other show with Maxwell Smart, where the room starts to get smaller and smaller untill there is no room left for the occupants to breath.

    .

Not to be confused with the movie where the walls close-in, that hare studded with knive blades and folk get skewered and die; charming.

    Favorited

  • I'll take five.

  • Really great innovative design. Must make each day enjoyable. Do not understand the amount of negative comments I've seen posted. Must be due to the basic lack of inventiveness and closed mindedness of the general public. Given your setting maybe an observatory at the other end of the house to view the stars would be a good idea!

  • DO WANT!

  • Great! But, um, why not just have curtains?? Seems a bit extravagant to build a sliding frame over the top??? Am I missing something? And then there's the matter of what happens if the motor stops and the roof is blocking the door. Oh we are self-impressed with our 'radical' ness, but for what I wonder...

  • Dear Maranymph,

They couldn't simply put curtains up. If take for instance a storm showed up. Without the roof the room would simply shatter into a million pieces. Leaving behind lost money and possibly damage to the inhabitants. And also if the motor stops there are doors on either side of the house.

  • People nowadays need to realize that just because it's different and unique does not make it good.

  • dear jr.,

no one will know the quality aspects of the different thing except those who own it; difference is a valid goal, in itself; it doesn't have to be anything in addition to that.

    .

you could have something that was good and say that that in fact was different; like ronald mc donald house -that is good.

    .

    (it is a charity)

    Cheers.

  • someone's gonna get pinched in the mechanism & they will not be pleased

  • WORST MUSIC EVER FOR A VIDEO! Why does everybody who puts up videos think it has to have a sound track

  • so true, because hard of hearing folk can't differentiate between the music and the words; moreover, serious data transmissions don't need the interlude of music -it destracts needlessly from the uptake.

    .

like music while giving data on Oświęcim for example, is always stupid.

    cheers.

  • Load of bollocks. Its gonna go wrong. :-P LOL pistopia95 i totally agree!

  • I love this - who ever came up with the idea deserves a pat on the back - or 6! Just one thing I don't understand what is the building on the left?

  • sleepyjac Said: Just one thing I don't understand what is the building on the left?

    The outhouse..

  • Dear loopman.,

    Its the three-car garage, man.

  • YesYesYoureRight, said: Dear loopman.,

    ---------------

Why would he park his cars in the outhouse?

    jk, ;-)

  • Dear Loopm.,

Thanks for your response; in England it is highly desirable to have a shed in the garden that the so-called man-of-the-house can go to, to spend long periods of time in devotion to a hobbie in order to get away from the woman in the house.

    .

Maybe the three-car-gararge size out building is much the same thing, here too.

    .

The former prime minister of the UK, Edward Heath was an example of the type with no garden shed, he was a bachelor and so, could just stay in the big house.

  • who can afford this thing??

  • Dear wes8.,

Don't you mean "who else can afford this thing?"

These folk will be / are major tax payers, and are good for the country.

    cheers.

  • yes ,and i forgot about the builders and other folks that helped build it ,it kept people employed

  • The couple who had it built for them, I would assume. :)

  • It is so good too see someone push outside the standard and norm. Congrats too all invovled.

  • People that live in a glass house like that. It has to be the environment.

  • u all know wat i think , lol i think that some day the machine that slides the house is gonna get messed up. so they r gonna get stuck in it cuz they wont be able 2 open it ! lol Dx

  • I believe the motor only slides the roof back and forth. It doesn't block the entrances.

  • wow so cool.i want to live there

  • they sound SO bored

  • this is my friends uncle house!!!

  • and its also my brothers friends uncle who lives in kentucky who knows a guy who said his brother owned it yesterday

  • Just a small point,,, nothing to get excited about,,,, but does the Council Tax bracket go up when fully erect?

  • Shit, why did'nt I think of this idea when I was advising Gordon Brown. We could've called it the Sliding Scale Mortgage, whereby you only have to pay for what is exposed.

  • Very cool concept! ;)

    Check my video guy ;)

    Check my video guy ;)

    lucky

  • I cant afford the credit card payments on my

    new sliding roof mortgage....

  • cool house ..i had to chuckle when he talked about pulling back the roof and they show the greenhouse sticking out......maybe they should call it the foreskin house :)

  • Comment removed

  • You can't beat a fine erection.

  • Reminds me deeply of the sims 2 seasons.

  • I simply like people with good ideas
