I want to say that I completely disagree with the racist and fascist purposes told against the French. We are an important country in Europe. Our values are welcoming, tolerance, solidarity, respect of the other peoples. That's why Joëlle Ursull, Amina, Kali, Marie-Line, Sofia Mestari, and so on sang to represent our country (was it good or not). We can speak English but French is also an international language, spoken in several countrys in Europe !

the rules about draws have now changed. In the event of a tie on points the number of countries you recieved points from is counted first and then how many 12s, 10s etc.

Under these new rules France would have won in 1991 as they got points from more countries than Sweden did

Carola's song was very stereotyped, whereas Amina's song was more original and hymnic. Of course it's a song that can't be sung by just anyone, and that's the beauty of it.

Amina's song was nice, I agree. But it wasn't usual for ESC, whereas Carola's song and the whole performance was superb, full of positive energy like all her songs. Also, I'm sure that Carola would be able to sing Amina's song with no problem because she already had duets with Andrea Bocelli and Tito Beltrand. The videos are on youtube, so check them out.

God, I'm starting to worry for agreeing so often with you, but you're totally right! Amina's groundbreaking entry losing to - indeed - such a generic song due to a stupid technical glitch in the rulebook (the rules have since been changed, and by the current ones she'd have won) is possibly the biggest injustice in ESC history. And a very harmful too, indeed - just think of the ammunition it gave to the contest's critics...

The contest of 1991 was the worst hosted ever. The relentless babbling in Italian, not caring at all that Italian is actually not spoken in most of Europe. I remember wanting to kill Toto Cutugno, the male host. The voting was exciting, hasn't been so much excitement since.

Indeed, the voting was so close, it was amazing! The top-6 were all over the 100 point mark (the only time when that has happened, in my memory), and because of the relentless Italian and the almost-absence of the scoreboard, it was hard to know what was happening at any given time!

Great Carola! She's is a wonderful artist. In 1983 became 3rd. and in 1991 the winner (in 2006 5th.). I like more Främling that her 1991's entry but, anyway, in 1991 instead in 1983, she reached the price she was worthy.

The Israeli couple were very sweer, with her hanhing her head on his shoulder. They became very close friends with Carola afterwards. They actually just split half a year ago after having a very succesful career in Israel. I remember watching this as a kid and totaly wanting the French singer to win it, I loved her song and performance, and was deeply disappointed. But infact Carola's song was great as well
