used some of the skills from this video. turned out great. :) got creative and added a lime green stripe diagnal on the front cover over the metallic dark blue. looks pretty good. and since i sanded side to side, and then used metallic paint. the lines from the sanding (320 grit) made lines in the paint look like it was metal. :D i also continued the metallic blue inside the laptop on the palm rest area and all surrounding.
Thanks for sharing your project. After seeing the amount of work involved, I will not be painting my computer. Good for you though, I think yours turned out pretty good.
@JakeDrew2 the surface that you are painting must be ruff in order for the paint to stick. also since the laptop has a clear coat from the factory, you will want that off too. you will get better results if you sand after every coat you paint too but when doing so, you have to wait for the paint to be COMPLETELY dry! I would have sit over night before sanding between coats. Depends how much time you have.
@kev49r i have a netbook which has a rough surface on top, do i just sand it down and then spray paint coats after the first one drys cause i have plenty of time.
@JakeDrew2 if the serface is rough from the factory mold of the case, you still have to sand down.... my guess is you will have to try to sand in the crevices...
The more you sand and coat another layer, the better it will look. (4 coats would be plenty for most paints)
You should apply a clear coat after but which one you choose is up to you,... There are ones that protect your paint vary well but wont shine as much and there are ones that shine really well but dont protect well at all.

@kev49r You could always paint over the surface and when it's dry, coat it with resin. The paint will NEVER come off and it'll have a nice gloss.
