Well that was basically it for Match game as we know it after 1977....Richard Dawson moved on to Family feud after that year, and they changed the set of the game show....no more cheezy orange shag carpet on the set.....

I wish that more of today's game shows would have a New Year's Day theme like Match Game did. With the balloons, confetti, fun atmosphere and such. The shows kind of shut down production after Dec. 15th and we later watch their reruns.
