  • Nowhere near as good as Travis Barker and Joey Jordison! this is just disorganised rubbish!

  • That bass sounds wicked

  • i hope he was actually just warming up, otherwise he would be pretty sucky.... it's funny that he's wearing an OCDP hoodie while playing on a DW set... P: OCDP is an excellent brand, the drums are amazing, i own a 14" vented 16 ply mapple snare and i'm totally in luv with it!! ...but DW is way better!! even though i haven't found a snare drum that sounds better than an OCDP... P:

  • OCDP are the shit the drummer form 311 uses them, so are DW's

  • recording sounds like freakin shit tho

  • ocdp rules

  • Chris P ftw

  • zzzzz boring...

  • @AbstractMan23 boring? you retard,he's soundchecking!

  • who cares about your opinion ? i guess you never played on an ocdp kit ... so please shut the fuck up

  • yes ocdp shirt

  • thanks for 411 henry :-) that musta sukkkkked!!! $8,000.00 dollars in OCDP drums...LOST!!....2 words....FED-EX!!....cheers henry.

  • @verveshawn lol

  • OC SWEAT SHIRT....dw DRUMS.....HMMM.

  • well he is sponsored by both btw lol, both amazing drum companies

  • ???

  • a hardcore bebop drummer? what the hell is he the hardcore resurected version of max roach?

I had my doubts about him filling in for Chris Pennie but this dude is the real thing.

  • is this at the rex theatre in pittsburgh?

  • Yeah

  • Gil > you.

    true story.

  • i thought gil was indorsed by Orange County Drums

  • he is really good.. but u cant beat the original DEP drummer Chris pennie.. do doubt Chris rocks!!!

  • was he doing triplet ghost notes on snare?

    k, he has my respect

  • Yes, the first note of the triplets are played with the right hand and the two other notes are played with the left hand. The backbeat is just on two and four.

  • he was definitely. even if better is subjective, pennie was still better in every sense so that's irrelevant. why did he go to coheed?

  • would you want to play dillinger's music for your entire life? maybe he wanted a change of pace.

personally, i'd take pennie in a second. he's far more educated. gil has way more licks but pennie was like a rock.

  • the only thing pennie had going for him was his consistency.

he has no feeling when he plays, and is too "written". gil and josh eppard > chris.

  • I don't understand why anyone would play with coheed if it wasn't for money.. imo they are the worst band I have ever heard :p

  • Chris hated Ben, Ben hated Chris, if you were in a band no matter how good i'm sure you'd leave for another if a bandmate was giving you grief.

  • dude, they didn't hate each other, they just argued a bunch, and eventually things just dissapated.

from what i've heard theyre still cool.

i mean, after playing with someone for years and years, eventually your going to fight

  • Sir, I disagree. 'better' is pretty subjective. Maybe technically better in terms of speed, rudiments, grasp of polyrhythms. But groove-wise, Sharone kicks his butt.

  • no he doesnt. not at all.

  • i thought he uses mapex??

  • no, that's chris pennie-DEP's original drummer.

  • oh yeah lol

    thanks :]

    theyre both drumming monsters :]

  • no.. isnt it there new drummer.. forget his name

  • Gil uses DW now?

  • nah he probably just couldnt get his ocdp kit

  • He probably plays DW on the road and OC at home/in the studio.

  • he's line checking his drums before a show. its not a warm up or a solo. it's pretty bad ass though.

  • way to make noise

  • good one

  • that hoodie rocks

  • Pennie was a much 'colder' drummer in my opinion (if that makes any sense). I mean it gave dillinger a different edge, but Gil just brings a different groove and style to the sound of dillinger.

both drummers a wicked tho- id pick DEP over coheed and cambria any day tho

  • Pennie was robotic, yes. But robotic is good sometimes.

  • yeh i agree, its just different

  • Gil is a great drummer...BUT!! i belive that pennie is more technical...and better.

  • haha, coheed and cambria is bigger and better? chris' talent definately belongs in ANY genera, seeing as though the guy can play anything...but i personally think coheed was a bad decision.

  • In all fairness, we've yet to see Pure Pennie in Coheed. The 1st one he did was Dave Grohl's stand-in playing to parts Pennie told him to play... So give 'em ONE more album, and I guarantee you, Coheed & Cambria might just turn it around and actually might be a bit of a rival to DEP. Wishful thinking, yeah, but still....

  • DWs look so plain compared to Orange Countys. Atleast hes wearring the sweatshirt tho, haha-dar

  • Gil blows Pennie way the fuck out of the water.

  • Nope

  • yep.

  • Gil Sharone is exceptionally talented and is for sure a worthy replacement for Pennie, but all this fucking nonsense about him blowing him out of the water is just that; nonsense.

  • nope

  • Ugghh...they didn't get rid of him...so calm down.

Chris Pennie left on his own accord.

  • notice how the fill in drummer for travis barker....is better than travis barker.

  • dude i'm agree with u.

gil is so much better than travis, everybody thinks that travis is a good drummer, but i dont think so,he is fag,a fucking rockstar.gil has great style, technique and talent.

  • THANK YOU!...I do not like travis barker at all...punk is so easy and basic...Gil is way friggin better...no comparison

  • I dig his style

  • Gil makes dep fresh again. Love chris but they don't need him anymore, the style was sussed out years ago. Gil can help them take it to a new place where as chris would just be more of the same. It's like when Primus got Brain, at first he wasn't Herb, but then the band just got better.

  • DEP didn't get rid of Pennie, he chose to go with Coheed and Cambria

  • he has feel and chops! hes just as precise as pennie but has way more feel

  • He's funkier than Pennie. Not better, so don't get me wrong. But he plays just a bit funkier. Pennie is more smoother, more calculated and technical. Sharone can swing like nobody's business though.

  • agreed. Pennie has the chops. Sharone has the feel.

  • I partly agree with that. Like... you're right, as an individual, Gil is funkier and definitely has that type of style, but he can also play everything Chris can play; the smooth, technical stuff, and he can play it the same way Chris can while putting a bit of himself into it, like the live drum fills and whatnot. So what I don't agree with is that Pennie is SMOOTHER than Gil, because Gil has shown that he can be just as smooth.

  • I think Pennie is the next level in the arena of DEP. I have seen much more of Sharone grroving, but when it comes to jazz metal (or whatever you like to call DEP) Pennie is the master.

Still - much, much love to Gil - I love the guy!

  • he's fresh!

  • FUCK YA!!

  • that was in the latest pittsburgh show. badass

  • he oughta be sweatin like a pig

  • sick!
