don't get this at all. it's like scratching your right ear with you left arm over your head! it seems to me to be doing more steps.
How hard is it to even up the 2 ends...make a small loop or circle around your pointer with both ends together and pulingl the end through and sliding it into a knot at the bottom?
I double up because my a lot of my thread is kind of old. So I thread the needle, and hang two even lengths. I knot by just twirling and messing the end between my thumb and index finger until a knot happens. Ha, it works for me.
I was taught the one handed technique in primary school. You wrap the end once around your index finger, rub it off with your thumb and pull it tight between thumb and middlefinger. Very fast and very easy.
a really, really cool quilter, years ago, taught that same technique, although she recommended twice over, as the knot would still be small enough to squeak under the fabric when hand quilting. I have used this technique and it's FANTASTIC...for heavy duty repairs you might need the 4th wrap around.
You know, Lots of people are upset that you guys don't only put up tutorials. But personally, I love how you guys are going out and fining ways to show people that creativity and DIY isn't only for clothing. Not just that, finding tutorials like this helps everyone. I mean, not everyone was taught this when they started. So, way to go, Threadbanger. You rock out loud. ♥
it's not lame at all - this is the way information gets shared! why are people so negative about such a positive channel? thanks for letting threadbangers know how much they are needed! peace
lots of people~! there are all kinds of folks who use the internet for educational purposes. I'm going to have to agree with the person who asked why the complaints, as the video was marked exactly as it was presented. Someone has to pass on the information. Thanks GlassOnion...and the store in KZ rocks too!
Oh well.... So after you watched a vid, that was announcing exactly what was in it and useful to any REAL crafter, you just HAD to say something ugly... So that maybe you can go to bed today and say: Oh yes, I said something completely dumb and out of place....Be proud of it. Maybe some day you will realise, that they put up a real (yes sure... this one was unreal... was only in your mind) one today, too...
Uh I hate it, when people who have nothing to say, still feel the need to do it.
I love that place! I got a huge ass piece from there... lol... They are a little pricey, but awesome... I used to go there all the time when I lived on Douglas.
Yeah, I like doing that too because the knot comes out as a nice size. If I tie it regularly, the knot ends up being too small and the entire thread ends up going through whatever I'm trying to sew...
please don't stop posting rudimentary techniques...if the know it alls want to complain, let them post their own work with advanced hoo-ha...threadbangers is ALWAYS on the positive! peace
actually for a more secure knot at the begining of a handstich you could just tie the loose thread together, then make one stich in the fabric. then you pull the needle through the loop of the rest of the thread, like you would if you were finishing off a hand sewn project. then just keep going.
cool

This helped A LOT.

Isn't that a French knot as in for embroidery? Seems undesirably large for fine sewing on silk at any rate. Nevermind, cute video.
