  • thats one thing we dont see here in the uk trains going uphill or even down hill its amazing x i love nyc wish i could live there londons crap ! xxxxx

  • 0:37 Thats amazing!

    It looks like a rollercoaster!

    Greetings from germany!

  • @solidsnakeBYTE88 the red is in this consist

  • BAD ASS!

  • Ive seen another pair #9206-9207 which is also in MTA silver and blue. Personally that pair should be painted in white livery circa 1982 scheme.

  • Why haven't they put the train of many colors back in Fan trip Service ?

  • the 2nd subway train is on gta iv

  • this is great i remember ridin the redbirds as a kid the 2,4,5,6 and 7 lines i cant believe they r retired man does time go by quik

  • Cars. Typo, sorry.

  • The World's Fair card had the panoramic windows, the Redbirds didn't. That's the main difference.

  • i wanna live in NY

  • i saw that train parked at Hoyt - Schermerhorn St... i was wondering what it was doing there lol. i thought it was a special train or something but i guess this is what that is. aweosme :D the red trains were nice on the 7... i miss them :(

  • I miss the Redbird trains alot. They have strong propulsion system build inside of them. They are faster than the new R142 trains. The new R142 are slower than the Redbird trains. The Redbirds are the fastest trains in the New York City subway system. The Redbirds are very strong. The Redbirds are stronger than the new R142 trains.

  • @azar7834 I miss how it went dark when switching lines. The two lines I rode the most when the Redbirds were used were the 2 and 7 lines. Rarely did I encounter a 5 train on the 7th ave line.

  • I'm surprised they don't have one of the dark green cars as part of the consist. I remember them during the 1980s. I can't remember which lines they ran, but the dark green cars looked pretty cool.

  • @Flatbedkw That very day it wasn't part of the consist - they replaced the Kale Green car with the 1970's silver & blue transit livery cars (9010-9011).

  • I miss the red birds too

  • @dieudonneMC I miss the Redbirds so much. People are saying that the new R142 trains are better than the Redbirds. But I think technically the Redbirds were one of the strongest trains in New York City. The R142 s are having technical problems. I miss the Redbirds.

  • @azar7834 those new subway cars are garbage! redbirds rule! I don't live in the city, but the few times i visited theree I loved the redbirds! you know the "gap" between thr platform and train? you know why thats there? the newer trains are more narrower because the people who designed them wanted them to be "as light as a feather". the rebirds are the REAL NYC subway! am i right?

  • @azar7834 - I miss the Redbirds too and wish they were still running. They were solid and built very durable. However, the newer trains are lighter, more efficient and even with the electronic gadgetry they consume less electrical power which adds up a lot in cost savings to taxpayers. But it makes me feel good that compared to the R62s (the train coming in the opposite direction) the new IRT trains have a body style that is so very similar to the Redbirds. Sort-of a tribute to them.

  • Nice Sh**!

  • YAY, 9010/11!

  • Guys lets not fight here if you wanna fight go to another vid

  • Nice video Shot of the old trains

  • if it was up to me, i'd bring back all the graffiti subways and get rid of this new shit thats running on the system. its boring!

  • put whats left of these babies back into service if ever those "bumdardier" or "kawasukcky"s breakdown!!! LOL. Thanx on the tip about the 181st Station.

  • I don't think there are enough of them left. Most of the ones that remain are used as work cars.

  • that is a fact. it was only wishful thinking

  • you need to improve your spelling !

it's Bombardier not "bumbardier" and Kawasaki not "kawasucky"

  • dumbass, I am not a troll, I have a grip on things, my brother lived in NYC - I have riden the old and new trains millions of times !

I didn't stumble here because I had nothing better to do, a buddy of mine shared me this video !

  • then shut the fuck up

  • you shut the fuck up !

  • calling me a dumbass means you have never known what it was like to ride an old redbird or Worlds Fair train. And I dont need to improve my spelling because what l posted is sarcasm pure and simple. pity.

  • I called you a dumbass cause you called me a troll !

a worlds fair train is a red bird, and yes I rode the red birds - they're just subway cars and that's it !

  • NORTHLANDERDUDE... you're entitled to your opinion just like i am. my opinion is that you lack taste. The only trains i like that are running today are the R32s, R42s, R44s, R46s R62s and R68s. The newer train models are boring because they ALL look the same and the inside ot those cars look like the inside of a hospital bed. The trains that ran back then had variety to them which made it interesting. im sure MOST ppl would agree to my comment. Go back to what ever other city u came from.

  • I came from NYC, parents moved us to Canada 23 years ago !

Thanks though, I'd love to come back to New York !

    :-)

  • a subway is a subway. no taste required !

as long as I get from point A to point B - that's good enough for me.

  • thats a good point but to some ppl these subways mean more than just going from point A to point B.

  • they can from japan the new cars

  • OMG i cannot believe i missed that .

  • Me 2 - I grew up with these on the Flushing IRT (7)

  • wat is the consist of this train? all the irt trains that have been retired?

  • The consist is as follows: R33 World's Fair #9306 (1963), R12 #5760 (1948), R15 #6239 (1950), R17 #6609 (1955), R33 Mainliners 9016-9017 (1960's red livery) and R33 mainliners 9010-9011 (1970's silver with the blue stripe). That was my copying and pasting from my own info. Just click on "more info" and you can see it.

  • "Wow!" is so appropriate! Great video!

  • hehe, going right past their enemies.

  • lol i was in those cars

  • I was in 9010 for the first round trip - I got off at 33 Street going back towards Manhattan (as you saw.)

  • someone should spray them wit graffiti. beautiful graffiti i mean, not just black scrawls

  • Um, why?

  • graffiti was cool back in its days. graffiti is art, and when it is mixed with a cool train its awesome. i like the subway trains of new york, but i am sorta sad when i see them with out graff on it. graffiti was art, but the mta just couldnt understand it =[

  • Graffiti is vandalism of public property and is rightfully illegal. Maybe it's cool to a few people, but to most of us, it is ugly and depressing! When Leonid Breshnev visited New York in the early 1980's, he wondered how the US could consider itself superior to the USSR when their subway looked ugly, while the Moscow subway was elegant with chandeliers and everything you could think of. I can understand the sentiment, but the less graffiti we have, the better!

  • i cant agree wit u on that. i like beautuful graffiti, not unreadable black scrawls.

  • so communist run state where any kind of self expresion is band no thanks give me graffiti any day !!

  • i kno rite, people don't understand, they all think graffiti is gang related, its not. have any of u fools been to a art gallery in soho or the village in manhattan. thats art, but graffiti is sorta like that also

  • um...is it just me or when the TOMC passed by the signal, the signal turned green....interesting...

  • No that's the signal on the local track you were seeing, it turned green after the train my friend & I exited had left enough distance between itself and that signal. The signals on the express track clearly turn red.

  • I'm intrigued by the red signal at the very top of the track. I can't imagine a train stopping in front of it. ;-)

  • Backwards roll anybody ;)

  • yeah.. and I can see everyone waving their arms in the air as they lose some gravity forces on that crest and all !! 8-)

You hear someone going "wow"... yeah "wow" is right!

  • the good ol rollercoaster effect. l remember when the redbirds did this over and over again on that section of the line; l even rode it a few times. scary when @ the railfan window. Cool memories thank you.
