It has nothing to do with black or white - it has everything to do with the media's coverage of his death. Black people are free to mourn him all they want and if they loved him there is no problem with that (he was a great entertainer), but the media coverage was way overblown. With North Korea shooting off missles and Iran close to getting the bomb, I hardly think Jackson's death should trump those stories. Like Goldberg said, "We live in the United States of Infotainment".

Jackson was a star not a celebrity, he became famous for doing something worthwhile not winning a reality TV show or flashing the papparatzi. I don't think that anybody should be put on a pedastel above everyone else no matter how talented they are, but since he all ready has been of course his death merits that coverage. Jackson's music had a musch bigger impact on the everyday lives of the average American than the middle eastern conflict or the (pre-recession) stock market.
