For 1.01, there was a huge problem with the darkness levels. The video was accidentally darkened to the point where there are some scenes that you can't even tell what's going on unless you turn your TV's brightness up. 1.11 corrected that, was remastered for high-definition, has added special effects, and a few additional scenes. There's really no reason to get 1.01, get 1.11 instead. They have it in both DVD and Blu-Ray.

German dub is fantastic, unfortunately I didn't watch Funimation version so I don't know if it's better or not. Japanese still the best, though ^^ The bad thing in German dub is that characters still speak with parts like -kun, -san etc

Well, I don't know German so I can't say if the dubbing is super fantastic or not. Both English and German seem to hit all the emotional spots about right.

I agree that the English dubs rocks, but c'mon, chill out on the Germans, man. This actually looks pretty good. I mean, I don't know German or anything, but the voices for Shinji, Misato and Rei all seem pretty good. The only voice I don't really like based on this trailer is Gendo's. And overall this trailer is a better one than Funimation's.

My favourite Voice Actor of the German Dub is Erich Räuker (Gendo). He also did Col.McNeil in the Stargate Series, Tom Paris in Star Trek: Voyager, Hector in 'Troy' as well as Ginyu in DBZ. Indeed, most of the VA from EVA are Professionals regulary heard in both TV and Cinema. Quite possibly the best Dub the country has to offer as far as Animes are concerned.

Well, thats true for the Ger. Dub DBZ which featured A LOT of known, talented voice actors but screwed almost anything up at any turn. I'm glad that EVA has not suffered the same fate. ;-)

So Asuka's voice actor for the anime's English dub, Tiffany Grant, got praises for her work. Good for her. However, I share stochinblockin's opinion. She sounded too contrived, and those sounds that she made sometimes got in the way of the dialogue. Same goes for the VAs that played Toji and Kensuke. Still, many people liked her interpretation of Asuka, so she might just reprise the role. No, I'm not complaining--just speaking my mind. After all, I can always watch it in Japanese with Eng subs.

I don't get why people always say other language dubs are better; IMO, you can't really judge it if you don't fully understand the language.

and also, there has yet to be an englujdh dub for 1.0, and you csn't compare a recent dub to a dub that's over a decade old.

and while I agree some of the VA in the original English dub isn't that great, theer's not much that's bad, the only one IMO being the military guys at the beginning,

and Spike spencer's shinji is awesome, so is english asuka

They will be using the same cast from the old Eva series to voice the 1.0 English release and, quite frankly, I do not think they are up to the task. Asuka's voice, in my opinion, was the worst. Maybe they will be better this time, but if they are going to be exactly the same a decade ago, sorry I'm switching to Japanese with English Subtitles. Ive been to Germany and know enough to get around, so to me the German dub sounds good enough.

Zum Glück bin ich Amerikaner. Funimation würde japanische Ehrentitel in eine englische Synchronisation nie benutzen. Es tut mir Leid, dass UFA nicht so intelligent ist.

Das komische daran ist das die Serie KEINE Floskeln hatte (gleiche Übersetzer, Synchrosprecher, usw)

Die haben das für den Film geändert.

Doch trotz Floskeln hört es sich ziemlich gut an. Die Sprecher wissen, wie sie sich in die Charaktere versetzen sollen um das ganze richtig rüberzubringen.

Und Funi kann ich aus Prinzip nicht ausstehen wegen ihrer Politik.

Dubs von ihnen find ich aber meistens gut (fast eine Rarität in Amerika wenn man dann 4Kidz sieht).

Deutsche Synchro... naja, kennt man ja. Ist nicht immer so toll, aber diesmal gehts. Einziger Kritikpunkt: "Shinji-kun" von Misato hört sich sehr schrecklich an ^^

Der Soundtrack scheint wirklich göttlich zu sein. Jetzt will ich nur hoffen, dass das Remake genauso gut wird, wie der erste Trailer!!
