  • this is EXCELLENT!!

  • this sucks just a touch lap top

  • I have one word: revolting

    PS

U all either r thinking the iPad is Gr8 if ur a mac or r green with envy if ur a PC (personal crasher)

  • @fredmiser Ok so wut are you a linux loser??

  • Apple is awsome. Way better than microsoft in many many ways. You almost can't even compare the two

  • @lilmonster1011 it's not a poser ipad ...you can't be a poser of something that hasn't been released and the hp tablet used in this video has been out since last spring...

  • @AlexanderKey69; I never said technology and computers will die out dude? People need to listen up. I said, newsapers will never die, they will always be around. And people prefer laptops to tablets. Unless they fix these tablets so they can be used in ways laptops can't, they'll die out for sure.

  • its not a tablet foo... its a fucking digital magazine xD lol for touch screen shits

  • It's not a tablet fuckers...

  • What is it then?

  • i don't understand why everyone is focusing on the fact that it's an HP. They're more interested in showing the product that they've developed. They probably also designed it to be used on the iPad, those just aren't available yet. . . I think it's a revolutionary idea, to develop and send magazines and newspapers via internet to touch screen tablets and laptops since it saves so many trees.

  • Jesus I hate those poser iPads!!!

  • this is the stupidest thing i have ever seen

  • I know so many people with this computer, its definitely a good comp...Check out my channel and subscribe!!

  • this sucks, no other company in the world has better touch screen technology than "APPLE" the touch on there phone and computers just flow freely, unlike this HP, its too stiff when you move a picture or swipeor even click on program

  • This looks like a flash/Air app running on an HP Tablet-touchscreen PC. Very little adoption in the US market, but it's good Time/SI are trying to find premium products to sell their goods with.

  • what is the name of the tablet convertible in the video?

  • lmao what a great job on the touch screen.. is this suppose to help their marketing? lol dont make a touch screen when you touch it and it doesnt react! its called fraudulent marketing!

  • I have this laptop, this laptop sucks!!!!! da mouse is never stays still...i try to edit pictures or go to simple websites and the mouse goes crazy, i don't recommend it at all....

  • it looks crappy as hell lol

  • um thanks i guess o___O

  • i didnt mean to reply to ur response lol

  • this looks like its gonna suck

  • bad bad os

  • I disagree I used to love reading the paper but know I read the paper on my iPhone haven't touch a piece of newspaper in years and thinks of all the trees saved and pollution cut

  • not really, they still print the newspapers, you just dont buy them so your not really saving anything

  • LOL!! He's touching golfist ass... 0:28

  • wow it looks so cheap and its just a lame Mac OS copycat

like all window out put has been for so many years now.

    So sad.

  • So true

  • No ... Un this lap. reflax by glass ..

  • I own the same laptop and had one of the first tablet pc (gateway m275xl) I now think its just a waste of money. Especially the fact that Windows OS is horrible. I plan on owning a mac in the future now. Really sick of Windows.

  • Good choice

  • Wow people... that's an HP laptop that just has a rotating screen. It's not necessarily something to compete with Apple. The point of this video was to show Time's idea for a virutal magazine... that's all. Chill.

  • Time's idea to replicate another idea that was under copyright as much as possible without actually violating any copyright laws... right. I don't even like the iPad, but jeez.

  • First of all, Apple is not the first company to release a tablet computer. GASP!!! I know, I know. It's hard to imagine Apple wasn't first on something. Second, from what I understand, the device proposed by Time, Inc. is supposed to be strictly a news magazine and not have the capability for much else. So how are this virtual news magazine and the iPad similar? Oh right, they aren't as much as they appear to be at face value. Apple defenders need to get off it.

  • Did I mention Apple?

  • It was implied. But either way you were saying that this proposed device would be "replicating" devices already in existence when this proposed device isn't really like anything already available.

  • Oh yes, thank you so much for letting me know what I meant to say.

  • tablet fail

  • whats the point of this laptop? you could just call it the tablet and talk off the keyboard. wow. i think apple won this one

  • too chay

  • touche.

  • lol the way i said it was better toooooooooooooooooooo chayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • wow this is the gayest laptop ever

  • are there any news websites that display full page articles like this?

  • of course google is your friend use it

  • tweet is rulling the world o.O""!

  • Cool, but not really anything that useful

  • hahaa that was my lop top using....its new rigth almost $1099 we buy this in ther facotory....

  • First of all this basically already exists, but in a less consolidated form. Secondly, when is NEW technology coming out?

  • i have the same laptop...

  • @grotzy91 same they are amazing

  • Stole he idea from Apple

  • I agree, to say I'll always stick with laptops and paper is a contradiction, Simple stubborn ignorance, "I know what I know and that's what Ill stick with" is what ur saying, Its not that you are anti technology because you say ill stick with laptops and paper... just doesnt make any sense

  • go up to your address bar, put the letter "Q" between the words you and tube and then press enter or click go"

  • lmao 0:28 missing left leg

  • nice hands, fags.

  • IT IS A HP DUM A.SS

  • nice

  • 0:28 He does not have a left leg ??

  • My eyes say yes !

  • Print ain't dead. It'll never die. People would rather carry around a small magazine than a labtop all day. Paper is also more reliable and has no battery or electronical errors. It'll always be around.

  • tell that to the countless amount of magazines/papers that have ad to close up shop recently

  • @AxRhea88 two words sum this up: you're wrong.

  • Nope. Not wrong. I'll never get a tablet, i'll always stick with Laptops and paper magazines. Tablets will phase out in popularity sooner or later.

  • @AxRhea88 You are contradicting yourself and neither of us said anything about tablets, regardless of the video. Whether tablets are the replacement or not, there is going to be a day were paper goes away.

  • I thought I said something about tablets in my first post. So here's the low down: Tablets are just a fad. People would rather have laptops. And when it comes to paper dying out, it will never, ever happen. Technology is unstable and unreliable. Newspaper is physical, it can last a lot longer than memory hosted by a computer and following daily columns/reading a (variety) of news is a lot easier than online.

  • LOL, you just are not "getting it".

You are reading this on a screen, on a service that shows videos from people around the world.

    Meditate deeply on this.

  • print is dead

  • I think this is a great idea...

  • why this videocamera shake shake shake,,,

    try use a tripod

  • Looks nice cause it still has the keyboard even though its touch screen

  • eh it looks alright

  • Great video!

  • just

    click

    and

    go

  • looks laggy and not sensitive

  • @StevoRevo86 agreed

  • go HP

  • o up to your URL bar, put a Q between the words you and tube and then press enter or click go

  • You should be able to click the picture and have it show a video. Or continue the picture like a highlight reel.

  • What a clunky piece of shit.

  • i think the ipad is much easier to use

  • YAWN!!!

  • just push buttons?

    and it takes

    care of me

  • just

    push buttons

    and

    my

    life

    is easy

  • dont know about you guys but i prefer iPad

  • Seems to be running some Custom OS. (Time Mag?)

  • This is garbage because: the content corporate media.

  • There's this thing even smaller and more convenient than this. A fucking magazine.

  • hahaha you're awesome!

  • Um... not thanx i rather but the Ipad....it looks ways smoother than this

  • not that amazed...

  • what a piece of shit. id rather fuck myself with a saudering iron

  • looks more like a laptop with a touch screen to me??

  • wow that interface looks like complete shit.

whoever designed it must have been having a stroke

  • I'm glade to see the Media is trying do something to stay alive. Sure you can get a lot of this content for free online, but it's nowhere near as good what you get from these types of publications.

Check out my Channel, I'm so desperate for friends I am paying $100 to someone just for subscribing

  • hmmm I don't know, it's not attractive to me at all. I would like to try though

  • not bad at all...

  • pretty fuckin nice

  • Can u guys check out my vids (: please!!!!

    Nd comment O.o

  • I built the original Demo in Flash! Cool! I am so excited it came out, I can finally put it on my resume. Message me if you want proof. I dont want everyone hitting up my website. AYAYAYYAYA!!!!

  • Oh look! its a tablet that can actually multitask, has a keyboard, AND usb ports :)

  • go to the url and put a q between you and tube

  • Comment removed

  • COWBOYS!!!!

  • Absolutely awesome. This is going to look great on the iPad!

  • Something that bugs the hell out of me is, why did these companies wait for touchscreen technology before actually starting to care about interface and design. The SI web site is horrible. They've constantly thought inside this imaginary box that web sites are supposed to fit into. NOW they're thinking about experience? NOW they're concerned about art direction? These guys are actually way behind in the game if they are just now thinking about media in this way.

  • This can be implemented today. I believe they are using an HP touchsmart TX2 Tablet. The only thing they need to do is distribute the software/platform they are using. The hardware is nothing new. Can't wait until this becomes a reality.

  • The fact that there is an iPhone sitting on the desk means that he can wait for the damn Apple Tablet, not that junk. Cool magazine program, just not on that hardware...

  • Maybe going to the dentist's waiting room won't be so boring anymore...that is if no one steals the darn thing.

  • Voice! The articles should be read to me also.

  • @daedalx There's no reason to think this won't be able to do that in the future (if it can't already). It may depend on the OS of the device.

  • Its a natural progression for print media like magazines etc.. Very exciting stuff

  • wow people are getting lazy enough not to turn pages... cool...

  • @evilkenshin666 But perhaps excited enough to start reading again, and further INTERACTING with the content. Welcome to the future.

  • Nothing special to be honest =(

  • @5botball When you look back on this moment 20 years from now, you're going feel downright silly you didn't see what this represented.

  • This type of thing can be implemented NOW, 20 years from now, or 50 years from now. It's really nothing we haven't seen before. I can do this on my ipod touch.

  • The point is that it we're right on the edge of this. If you're saying that this particular demo is nothing special, because there's so much potential in this space, then perhaps we're not in opposition.

If you're saying that tablet technology, and touch interaction, and truly rich media are nothing special, then I couldn't disagree more.

  • I'm talking about this particular demo. I just dont understand what the hype is with this video. they did not make the device. they did nothing but slap this online magazine in it. nothing we haven't seen before. thats all

  • Yeah but there is no specific app on the touch can perform this, let alone give you a whole interactive magazine.

Given 20 years is alittle steep but this is something new that we really haven't seen, the concept is nothing new but the implementation of this technology hasn't been seen, but as the iSlate gets released, this will co-inside with the iTouch.

  • ummm... how is this different than a webpage.. and i really dont want oily fingerprints on my screen thanks.

  • @JogBird It's different because it's an application (making it much more robust), and because it clearly supports gestures (and perhaps some multi-touch features).

And we already have oleo-phobic surfaces on devices like the iPhone. It's unlikely that you'll be seeing fingerprints on your future tablet.

  • lure and kill

  • Wait until Apple comes with its 10 inch tablet (2010) and watch how fast the newspaper world will change

  • Yeaaaaaaaaaa Cant fucking wait Go apple lol

  • @ruggenberg

changing the device people read newspapers from won't change anything- newspapers are being phased out because the content is more relevant and timely online

  • When OLED (Organic LED) becomes affordable, no one will be laughing at this.

  • Wow Time Inc has a... website... how innovative!!!

  • I find it funny that they're building a sports magazine for the tablet -- the first people with tablets will be geeks not interested in sports, I guess.

  • times are changing my friend, anyone can be a geek, and in fact i know allot of computer whiz's that pretty much use their computer to check sports, and tablets are coming, and they are not far off, i will have MS or Apple tablet whatever one hits first

  • aye, I'm not coherently a geek either. MS tablet? no thanks, their last 'touchscreen' thing was a flop, the Surface is useless, I tried one out. I bet the Apple Tablet will either be announced in January or June of next year. I can see it coming.

  • This is like a niche of a niche... people who like sports and are SI subscribers and have tablet computers.

In a nutshell, way too early.

  • not next year apples tablet is going to be big the big pc makers are going to push tablet pc's next year also they will be much better then the old ones that flopped like the one on this video
