you don't need a million dollars to do what tom morello does. if you drill a hole in the pickguard, you can put in a killswitch very easily. just go to radio shack and pick up a 'momentary switch' for like... 2.49. if you wire it straight to the lead, and have the switch short the guitar to ground when you press down/flip whatever, the guitar will go silent. alternatively, on a gibson, you can turn your neck volume down to 0 and flick the selector switch back and forth. google killswitch
