I think Troy Smith is a good QB, but don't think he has the size to be an elite QB. Flacco has all the tools and the attitude to be that guy... I'm sure we'll see a few weeks of Troy Smith at the beginning of the season to see what he can really do though. Flacco will be starting by week 5 or 6, though

I agree that size is not the be all end all factor, but being 6 inches taller reduces the chances of a ball being batted down, and increases your ability to see over the line and get a better overall view of the field... I see his skillset, know he's accurate, has a stronger arm, and being taller is just icing on the cake. Smith may turn out to be a good QB, but Flacco's ceiling is way higher.
Here's a word of advice: quit arguing. It's really senseless. No one has seen him play in the NFL. Once he starts a few games in the NFL he will show if he is good or not.

I don't think they gave up on Troy. There have been cases of teams having two young qbs and the one that was the lower rated player coming in wins the job. A classic example is how Gus Ferrote took over Heath Shuller's job.
he has a chance to start with the ravens but he is a rookie still and i highly doubt he would take us to the superbowl but he is good for his age but unless he has a great training camp and preseason it will probably be split between troy smith and kyle boller. but i think if he stays with the ravens for a few more years he a has a good chance of being a starter cause hes great for our division and a really good qb

1. Flacco didn't play in D-II, he played in the same division as Kurt Warner, Terrell Owens, Brian Westbrook and plenty of other accomplished NFLers.
2. Ryan is better than Flacco because Flacco's arm is stronger?

They Lost because Audubon High school football isn`t one of the greatest football program in South Jersey, But he is good, I went to Collingswood High we only had one good year of our own, but we got beat by Camden in Playoffs, alot of people thought the game was set up because reffs were calling a lot of bad plays.

i was a fan of Ozzie Newsome... untill this draft, theres practically no way Flacco is going to grasp the offense any time this season, i really would have prefered we drafted a good Corner like Dominiqe Rodgers-Cromartie to help are depth (all though we did get Fabian Washington from Oakland) i would have liked us to just get Brian Brohm in the second but maybe thats just me... if Flacco takes to long to "bloom" i think we should get involved in the Brady Quinn hunt when the browns trade him

come on guys another running back? they already have willis mcgahee who did more than good last year and then you guys say they should have drafted a linebacker? THEY HAVE fucking RAY LEWIS, BART SCOTT, AND T-SIZZLES they drafted fine they needed a qb and they got one. Kyle Boller sucks and Troy Smith looked pretty good but you cant just gamble and say hes the starter we really dont know troys potential this kid could be as good as carson palmer he has great mechanics.

I think Troy Smith is a good QB, but don't think he has the size to be an elite QB. Flacco has all the tools and the attitude to be that guy... I'm sure we'll see a few weeks of Troy Smith at the beginning of the season to see what he can really do though. Flacco will be starting by week 5 or 6, though

I agree that size is not the be all end all factor, but being 6 inches taller reduces the chances of a ball being batted down, and increases your ability to see over the line and get a better overall view of the field... I see his skillset, know he's accurate, has a stronger arm, and being taller is just icing on the cake. Smith may turn out to be a good QB, but Flacco's ceiling is way higher.

It's really sad that the Ravens are putting the fate of the franchise in a guy who no one heard of before November. Here's a guy who couldn't throw more than 23 TDs at DELAWARE. Here's a guy who started a whole season against the 1-AA junior varsity and threw for less than 2,800 yards. The Ravens panicked, got desperate, and really really dropped the ball. I am pissed.

I don't think they gave up on Troy. There have been cases of teams having two young qbs and the one that was the lower rated player coming in wins the job. A classic example is how Gus Ferrote took over Heath Shuller's job.

I'm no expert but I saw some good things on this video. He found the open man, put the ball in tight spaces, and moved decently in the pocket. I not sure if it's all going to translate into the NFL but he seems to have some tools.
