Those are the only parts of the song that mattered. It's that, and then it's just KD saying "ah" and "no" for 3 minutes at a time. And yes, I understand James reflects this particular pattern post-Justice album, saying "yeah" or "jayah" after every line.

@demma961 Yep. Of all the rifs people try to compare this to, 2 Mintues To Midnight is THE closest, bar none. If anything, that would mean Iron Maiden borrowed this and sped it up. This song was recorded in '81, and Midnight was released in '84 on Powerslave.

@TempleOfInanna2 even before this song was officially released, other bands have also used this same riff, or at least one very similar to it. Saxon ("Power And The Glory"), Anvil ("Tease Me, Please Me"), Accept ("Flash Rockin' Man"), Riot ("Swords And Tequila") and Raven ("Seek And Destroy") all use some variation on this riff, at the same speed as "2 Minutes To Midnight." I'd even say "Seek And Destroy" and "Hit The Lights" off the first Metallica album variate on it slightly.
