The trailer looks good, but I'm still a little pissed that they decided to give the Prince a name. Part of the appeal of the Prince's character was the fact that we didn't exactly know who the Hell we were playing in the games, but like I said the trailer looks good and if the movie is good also, I'll look past it.

This movie just looks like another Hollywood blocksbuster, full of cliches that people still fall for...But all in all, still seems interesting I guess only because I liked the game. (oh the irony)

As for the arguments for and against the naming of the Prince, it works well in the game because he's basically interacting with one character at a time. There are so few people that names don't matter. He also seems to have a different sort of personality in the movie, less of a mysterious character.
I'm aware it's quite too early to think about it, but I bet every PoP player wonders how would The Dahaka look like if they'd do the second game, too.
A Persian actor. They could have cast someone new even if they couldn't find anyone. And my friend who is Persian, said if they kept his accent for the game to cast Naveen Andrews who has an English accent. He's not the correct ethnicity either, but since you want the actor to have an English accent, there is a prime example of someone who could pull of the part with the accent you're looking for.
So instead of ofollowing the plot of the games there going for the same type of plot iv seen a hundred times with the same type of charecters iv seen a hundred times atleast the games one had some class forget it's still along way for a good game based movie

I'm a huuuuge fan of the games! I still have the original dos versions. I'm sure it will be fine. I know they have made some changes, but at least they gave him a name. It was a brilliant book! Then that abomination of a movie came out and ruined the story. But it did not effect the book. I was happy to have read the book, so I could know what really happened. This is no different. I'm sure there are plenty of things that they omitted from the story, but it is still the sands of time. I'm sure we will get to see a lot of action! Gísli Örn Garðarsson (However that is pronounced! LOL) Ben Kingsley is playing a character named Nizam. It would be cool if it turned out he was behind everything though! My favorite bad guy actors are Christopher Walken and Jeremy Irons. I do think Ben Kingsley is more suited to the role though. Especially after Jeremy Iron's performance as Profion in the D&D movie.

I remember playing the DOS Version of this game years ago. I downloaded the 3D revamp that Xbox Live is offering. Though they made it better, sometime you just want those simple graphics again, so you can feel just like you did playing it years ago! Now all we need is a Zelda movie and a Ninja Gaiden movie. Oh God! Nightmares, both of them! The good news is that Nintendo is still pissed over the SMB movie! They have already stated that if a movie were to be made of hit titles such as Mario or Zelda, that they would oversee it themselves. This includes the original writers writing the screenplay. The SMB movie apparently reflected poorly on the game. This is very good news! If IGN can get people excited with an April fools joke, imagine what Nintendo is capable of if they get serious!

"300" when the Persians were the bad guys they casted all black
& middle eastern types. Now that they are the heroes miraculously
the Persians are all white & some even have British accents. I just can't turn

Toby isn't bored with the role because if he was he wouldn't be in Spider-Man 4. (as for as I've read he IS coming back). The problem(s) are:
Bad Script
Bad Directing
Bad producers (one of them suggested putting in Venom, need I say more?)
BTW, this movie looks awesome! Now all we need is a properly done "Doom" and "Alone in the Dark" Movie.

The trailer looks good, but I'm still a little pissed that they decided to give the Prince a name. Part of the appeal of the Prince's character was the fact that we didn't exactly know who the Hell we were playing in the games, but like I said the trailer looks good and if the movie is good also, I'll look past it.

Ha, since when was Brokeback Mountain a bad movie? That film progressed Jake Gyllenhaal's career. I will always remember him from Donnie Darko though.
This movie just looks like another Hollywood blocksbuster, full of cliches that people still fall for...But all in all, still seems interesting I guess only because I liked the game. (oh the irony)

I think I'll have to watch this because I'm a huge fan of the games, even though I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed. The atmosphere just won't be right.
As for the arguments for and against the naming of the Prince, it works well in the game because he's basically interacting with one character at a time. There are so few people that names don't matter. He also seems to have a different sort of personality in the movie, less of a mysterious character.

A Persian actor. They could have cast someone new even if they couldn't find anyone. And my friend who is Persian, said if they kept his accent for the game to cast Naveen Andrews who has an English accent. He's not the correct ethnicity either, but since you want the actor to have an English accent, there is a prime example of someone who could pull of the part with the accent you're looking for.

I'm a huuuuge fan of the games! I still have the original dos versions. I'm sure it will be fine. I know they have made some changes, but at least they gave him a name. If it was just like the game, it would be a boring movie. Nobody wants to see him jumping off walls and and running along them for 2 hours. There has to be a story there too. J.G. would not have been my first choice either, but he did prepare for the role, and he is not as uptight as the game Prince. Give it a chance!

I think the movie will do just fine. Even if if they do screw it up, it couldn't be worse than Street Fighter or Eragon. Or even Battlefield Earth. Which in my opinion, was the absolute worst movie ever made! I mean it, give me Brokeback Mountain again! LOL

Consider Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
It was a brilliant book! Then that abomination of a movie came out and ruined the story. But it did not effect the book. I was happy to have read the book, so I could know what really happened. This is no different. I'm sure there are plenty of things that they omitted from the story, but it is still the sands of time. I'm sure we will get to see a lot of action! Try to just be excited about it! If it sucks, we still have the game!

I'm not sure Ben Kingsley is playing the Vizier. IMDB says the Vizier is played by a guy named
Gísli Örn Garðarsson (However that is pronounced! LOL) Ben Kingsley is playing a character named Nizam. It would be cool if it turned out he was behind everything though! My favorite bad guy actors are Christopher Walken and Jeremy Irons. I do think Ben Kingsley is more suited to the role though. Especially after Jeremy Iron's performance as Profion in the D&D movie.

I agree! I really do! Right now, I cannot think of a single person who looks more the role than Ben Kingsley. I'm just glad we are finally getting a movie! I remember playing the DOS Version of this game years ago. I downloaded the 3D revamp that Xbox Live is offering. Though they made it better, sometime you just want those simple graphics again, so you can feel just like you did playing it years ago! Now all we need is a Zelda movie and a Ninja Gaiden movie. Without Disney though!

Hehehe, I loved the original Prince of Persia. This thing has NOTHING to do with it. Although I like the new Prince of Persia-s, they shouldn't be called that. The only 3D PoP that was really like a Prince of Persia was PoP3D.
And I agree on the Zelda movie, but the game is too cartoonish to make the movie. (Remember Street Fighter and Mario movies?)

Oh God! Nightmares, both of them! The good news is that Nintendo is still pissed over the SMB movie! They have already stated that if a movie were to be made of hit titles such as Mario or Zelda, that they would oversee it themselves. This includes the original writers writing the screenplay. The SMB movie apparently reflected poorly on the game. This is very good news! If IGN can get people excited with an April fools joke, imagine what Nintendo is capable of if they get serious!
