  • Underrated band!!!

  • I am looking for "Life is not a happy world from pilot i cant seem to find it on you tube

can some one please link me to it I would appreciate it

  • Very cool guitarplaying there!

  • The drummer is Alan Pratt. He was the drummer with Pilot before Stuart Tosh but left in the very early days.

  • 16 people are gay

  • Total class. One of the most under-rated bands of all time.

  • sweet group!

  • Everything was right about Pilot.

  • @nicmart you are so right.

  • where was stuart tosh? anybody know?

  • Billy Lyall-R.I.P.

  • I think that band 'The Feeling' have been listening to this lot!

  • Yes that's me in the braces on the Wurlitzer!

  • The drummer suplied Stuart Tosh was Spinetti, i think.

  • @myryckyz

The drummer is Alan Patt, and its Peter Oxendale and Steve Swindells on keyboards.

    Source: David Paton (email)

  • Steve Swindells later of Hawklords is the other keyboard player on this as well. Is the drummer Jack McCullough?

  • I used to love Billy Lyall B sides! Pity none of them on here!

  • surely was a way too underrated band...

    they're really awesome!

  • I like this song ! Ian Bairnson is very good !!

  • Tonewise, I can hear a brian may (ish) thing comin thru. Or maybe I can hear Ian comin thru on a queen tune . Either way it sounds good. And yes ... I too think these guys are quite good as well as underrated

  • love it! great guitaring and all!!!

  • Shame it's not the entire video, Ian does a brilliant solo

  • Has someone got the whole clip? Please post if so!

  • wexiflex has posted the whole clip!

  • @nigelo92 I agree. The solo was brilliant.

It always makes me think of his Wuthering Heights solo.

  • Favorite Band!

  • Wassup ! Grrrreat guitarist that Ian is.

If you're a Gibson guitar fan, check out this guitar. It belonged to Ian Bairnson many moons ago:

    spivideo com/gibsonsg

  • No Biggie I have 2 of them a Cherry Red and a Golden Sunburst just like the one Ian is playing here!

  • What happened to these guys, way underrated.

  • David and Stuart still tour and record as Pilot. Ian is a very in demand session guitarist. Billy passed away about a decade or more ago.

  • And when will they to that?

  • @vivicola Also Stuart played for a time with 10cc, replacing Kevin Godley on drums.

  • Three of them became part of The Alan Parsons Project. I think the other went on to 10CC. They weren't wasted!

  • Nice play!,Ian Bairnson!!

  • he was great wasn't he ??.....a forgotten guitar hero ...

  • Great yes, guitar hero, sure, but I haven't forgotten him. He's right here on my computer in front of my eyes, as I type this, on video!

He does play amazing stuff on this track.

  • If you check out some of Beverley Craven's early stuff, such as 'My little Sister' you'll find that Ian provides some awesome guitar solos :-)

In fact, I've got a whole concert on video, somewhere...

  • I fukcin love these guys....

  • i love the drummer

  • Do you mean Stuart Tosh or the substitute guy who is taking his place for the day in this clip?

  • 10cc, badfinger, pilot, wings, beatles all kinda sound the same

not that theres anything wrong with that

  • They may all sound the same but NO ONE looks as cute as David. He has the most gorgeous smile and such an amazing talent!

  • @5ugarz

I agree with you. David was beautiful, more than TOO!The most beautiful creature I ever saw

  • I wish there was someway to get their songs popular again...

  • one way

    beg beg beg beg

  • These guys were good yet so under-rated.

Maybe it's just me but their sound is very similar to 10cc who, I believe were contemporaries in the early 70's. David Paton and Graham Gouldman of 10cc had very similar styles and I believe they both used Rickenbackers.

  • :D this song is amazing.

  • best song of all time - david paton is officially the best singer/bass player in the history of the world! ive got their cd... AMASING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree

  • One of the cleverest lyrics by this great band.

  • this band was so unbelievably underated. Their songs are better than ANYTHING on the radio today, or the last 15 years at least.

  • Totally agree with you! Simply awesome. These guys also always looked like they absolutely loved playing music for people. I love watching them.

  • my favourite song!! shame it missed off the guitar solo at the end though!!!

what guitar did david use in this??

  • Its a good song

    What year was this?

  • It was 1976.

  • Gem of a band.

  • The drummer in this clip is called Alan Pratt. 100% positive.

  • the best group in the world

  • many tks for posting

  • Stuart Tosh played on the 'Morin Heights' album which this song was taken from then left the band shortly after ( he joined 10cc )

Not 100 % sure who the drummer is (possibly Henry Spinetti) on this clip, but it's from the Arrows tv series.

  • who is the guy on drums? it is NOT Stuart Tosh who I knew since we were 9.

  • just a smile is just a class pop song what a tune

  • Excelente video, tiene que conseguir alguien el tema canada de pilot.

  • Pilot is still a great band! Have you heard their new CD entitled Blue Yonder? What about David Paton's new solo CD? Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist David Paton is easily the best bass player in rock and roll. Have you heard David Paton's 2006 album with Beagle Hat entitled Magical Hat? It's his overseas project.

  • could you please upload all these recordings? Thank you.

  • monster song, monster song!

  • I'm a fan of Pilot and have never heard this before. What a shame it ends too soon. Can it be uploaded again if the end is there on original please ? We need january too on the Tube if anyone has it.

  • there are now three clips of pilot singing january

    enjoy

  • Great clip! Never seen this before - which TV show did this come from? Ian's guitar sounds wicked!!!

  • The Arrows Show, 2nd season- ITV 1976, UK.

  • couldnt agree more , the best thing from scotland yeah

  • Sounds a bite like 10CC. Pilot were such a good band.
