saw an interview on this year's TdF with Jens about this crash. he said that although it looked specatular with the sparks coming from the bike and bleeding from his face he only broke a finger and had road rash, nothing more serious...but he admitted it did scare him b/c he was going so fast.

No, from the NYTimes article "Crashes Can Make Even the Best Cyclists Uneasy", he studied the video with some experts and concluded it wasn't the components, it was a small lip in the road and he slipped on the white line. But he's one of the toughest competitors out there, that helped him recover.

I remember watching this live just thinking "oooooouuuch". It looked awful and I am glad he's back. If you watch the second, slow-motion part, you can see his traction skewed once he hit the painted white line in the middle of the road. Any road cyclists knows that painted white lines are awful, especially at the speeds these boys ride at. Yikes!

@mrdysgo: I watched it too. Awful crash. Especially such a nice guy as Voight.. But even though every rider knows the lines are slippery, you cant really avoid them at that speed. and it was dry weather also. so, really nothing to say.just unlucky
