So This is the Scene in the Philippines now. not bad. They could have gotten better... I think the Routines were WAY too long... theres really no RAWness in it if everything is Choreographed. And Barely any Musicality in it. I'm still learning myself too dont get me wrong but Sharing The Education i got from the true bboys. thats what it is.
Why y'all hating were all bboys dancing and doing our thing.. Just enjoy the battle and stop calling other bboys biters. Btw The crowd was helluh hype haha, good shit both crews !
LOL, whats all this talk about biting and originality bro com'on guys these guys not only repped for all the philippines, they repped for every bboy out there so show respect because i doubt half the people callin on the "biting card" wouldnt have the balls to go up there and show the world what true bboying is about. so instead of argueing like eboys lets show respect for all those people who did participate
its dope to see talent elsewhere, and at a level that isnt that far behind the rest. the exchange btwn crews was good, as was the energy/passion. People forget that not all people are artistic - sometimes Originality is the hardest thing for a bboy to master. Thats all I gotta say to whomever watching. crews in the vid included. peace to (filipino) bboys keeping that sh!t alive.
****** ==== Please read my comments from the bottom up, not top down for it to make sense ==== ******
and thats what Im saying. You gotta let artists have enough time to find themselves. Especially in newer art scenes. The more prevalent styles (from other countries) will always be noticeable in the new scene, and thats actually a sign of respect and artistic adoration. And what I see here is alot of heart, and the will to continue this dance and above all represent hiphop. I only have a gripe with the routines, but a country being in the Pacific may find it hard to NOT make a routine
thats excluding the extremely talented ones that make that happen in less time. But so the next question remains - "why would people break/bboy if theyre just doing someone else's moves?" but the deeper mind finds fault in that. The focus area isnt really in what they (the new scene) is doing, its - do they have the heart and soul and approach to keep this artform alive for the coming years after its inception. If a bboy works hard enough, he will eventually find his own style
lets be honest, again, I myself am filipino. And there is definitely biting from both sides in this battle. This time saying that weirdly enough- thats not necessarily a negative thing. A trained eye to watching any new scene pop up will recognise that - more often than not, crews will look similar to other bboys in the game. Anyone experienced in this culture know that sometimes bboys will train 8-10 years and not find their personal style until then even.
something that I hadnt until 2011. Which was a FLOOR WARS battle featuring a crew from the Phillipines. (Sorry I dont remember their name even) But its always interesting to see this - which is when bboying (or art in general) breaks into a new country, one quickly asks "who are that regions pioneers?" and "which, if any, people from the more experienced bboy countries, were the most influential to this budding scene?"
I grew up watching and eventually being friends with some of the only filipinos I knew in the bboying scene - that scene being toronto. And these crews being Bag Of Trix and Supernaturalz. Being content that north america birthed some of the best filipino's bboys it never occured to me how/when exactly the scene in my native Phillipines was growing. North america had enough talent for me to watch, until unfortunately only a few remained. So watching this with an open eye I was pleased to see
i think people just need to relax and enjoy this damn video. call them out..not here but in a cypher, if you guys think they bit your favorite bboy's move. but damn wish i got down with some pinoy bboys/bgirls when i was visiting this past november!
@BboyRoan Hey! I think you're reading too much into my comment. It was not meant to insult Filipino bboys. I was just making an observation. I'm Filipino and have many friends there who enjoy the art and the thrill of battling. I was just posting a question to everyone here and asking for their feedback. If you read my initial post, I did not type anything inappropriate or rude. Right? I'm assuming you could read. I suggest that you need to think twice before replying.
@sushiwarrior2010 my apologies, i guess i did jump to conclusions. there are plenty of assholes around, but i guess i pinpointed you wrong. again sorry man.
@iThePaperCut I agree. Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to know what others think. I travel to Manila on a yearly basis and haven't seen local bboys evolve as much as countries. Hopefully, they keep it up.
Unless you're taking action to your words on "educating these kids about biting" and "being original", all you're doing is perpetuating unnecessary hate. Let's be happy that we have a younger generation showing interest in an art form that WE ALL can contribute to.
Shouts to Funk Roots for keeping it true all the way through.
They're just dancing the best they know how, yet the bboy police are out hounding them the second they don't follow the "rules". I don't have the luxury of having a big bboy scene where I live so i can't be cool and be as great a judge as some here but if one started to come up should I stand in the crowd calling crashes and bites the whole time? All it would do is discourage new bboys and fuck my arms up. The world's a big place, seeing something twice isn't a big deal. ps song at 5:13 is fire.
Yo! im a pinoy bboy and i used to have a crew in there and were familiar wt biting and how to be original! and yeah bboying started to be a big thing in the country nowadays so lets see after 3 yrs or more where it will go...now im reppin overboys crew here in dubai uae..if youre a fil am and you keep on watching showtime on tfc, thats the freakin mainstream..we on the underground son..thats true hiphop right there, not the freakin showtime mainstream so dont generalize..we know ORIGINALITY!
@bboyfrostyle you guys know about originality i appreciate that but if you guys know originalty why those guys bite people with the same set like 9:50 he bite nes Q from floor gangz hahaha
@RocZide234 yo coz that kid is student/homie of profo won of FLGZ! aight??? don't just say anything like that if you don't know the story :)) Defier-FunkRoots
@bboydefier yeah i dont know the story but yo man sorry thats move is nes q , im sorry but your friend bite those move hahaha if profowon his teacher , i think that must be imposible why? profo won will teach the student to not bite his own crew hahaha so that must be no profowon student hahaha but keep goin i love philpines crowds like a hell, but please guys you know what i mean right
I respect what rjkoolraul and Enigmatic are saying, however, bites need to be called out no matter where they are happening. Biting is not okay. Especially in the Phils where I feel that biting is part of the culture there in regards to dance and music. I've seen multiple crews on Showtime on TFC stealing Jabbawockeez entire style and routines. The biggest pop stars there are basically glorified karaoke singers doing American pop hits. They don't' seem to think anything is wrong with biting.
@Mark198d It's like how korea started off kinda sorta. BBoying is still in early stages in the philippines, and theyre even struggling in their own lives trying to dance. Otherwise you would see filipino bboys from the philippines battling internationally, not including filipinos from outside PI like ronnie or mouse. Every country almost as their own identity in bboying, its only a matter of time before the Philippines does
@xBoneXBBoy I can't speak on how things were in Korea, but as a Filipino-American with relatives in the Philippines and access to Filipino television here in the US, what I am seeing is biting is rampant in the Philippines. Not just in bboying, but also in TV, music, and other forms of dance. I feel if people don't call them out for biting, you are enabling them to continue to do it. I'm proud of my heritage, but it seems native Filipinos don't think it's that important to be original.
@Mark198d I'm FilAm as well, and I remember watching Showtime and saw these guys copy Poreotics clothing and even did some moves from a routine. It's not that they intentionally bite like how we see intentional bites, but that they don't understand that it's wrong, kinda like how some bboys are when they first start and are oblivious to the term bite. I strongly believe sooner or later the Philippines will emerge like how Korea and Japan blew up almost a decade ago.
@xBoneXBBoy That's my issue. There's a culture of biting over there because nobody tells them that it's wrong and that it needs to stop. Some of the bboys in this vid were doing bite signs so at least some are starting to understand that it's wrong. I mean c'mon man, you can't do an entire Roxrite set in a battle. You can't copy Jabbawockeez routines complete with masks or Poreotics with the same funny popping and sunglasses look (I saw that too).
@Mark198d "native Filipinos don't think it's that important to be original."...FUCK THAT SHIT! yes its true that there are alot of biters in the philippines! thats because they dont understand the art and essence of breaking!! but don't generalize the filipino breakers by just watching videos on youtube! not all filipino breakers are biters! peace!
damn they were hyper jaja and kept disin on each other, good battle and who cares if they bite everythng has been done all u have to do is put ur own twist.
So many good American bboys are of Phillipino descent, that this was inevitable. The biting is kinda hard to call in my opinion since it's not like they've seen a lot of big players visit (that I know of) and anyway, we all have the same kind of human equipment. Haters are just trying to cut the tall down to their weak-ass level.
hopefully these bboys doesn't become big headed like boasting about filipino pride shit and just focus on being a good bboy.Philippine bboys will soon catch up to other countries
I didn't know that B-boys had moved up to the Philippines, but this video showed real hype and passion to what they were doing. They get pissed and cocky, but it's all cool after; Now thatz what I call real B-boying right there!
Though there were a lot of bites and crashes, you have to keep in mind what stage of bboyin' the Philippines is in. Back in the day NY bboys used to recycle moves from other dance styles and just bug out. What you're watching is PI bboys recycling moves and (literally) buggin' the F' out.
The video doesn't do the battle justice. This was beyond hype.
@rjkoolraul with alot of help from the hype tracks you were layin down! way to play music that kept the energy up. ive seen many a boring final battle because the dj just doesn't know what to play to get the energy level up
I don't call out bites often but that burn 09:55 was NesQ (Floorgangz) all the way haha. /watch?v=9jc0yQPGL3g @2:40. Very hype battle nonetheless, the philippines are coming up!
@LawkSam i never knew he was doin that burn..you think every single bboy doesnt have the same moves.. by the way im profowon's student(floorgangz u.s chapter pres.)and most of them are my homies.. specially and korean chapter.. either way you say im bitting that could be a compliment for me. so thank you! peace out!
I see some of these comments and, I wonder do some of you really have to find a reason to bash the dance being spread in another country in which it didn't exist a long time ago? Of course there's a bit of biting when they're main way to view this dance is the internet, and bboys who visit from other countries, it's almost inevitable. It takes a while for a country of bboys to build their own flavor. They are young in the game so their still just getting there, so keep a look out.
Their should have been a limit to how many routines a crew could do lol

I didn't know that B-boys had moved up to the Philippines, but this video showed real hype and passion to what they were doing. They get pissed and cocky, but it's all cool after; Now thatz what I call real B-boying right there!

Probably on the hypest battles I've ever dj'd.
This was beyond hype.
respect,
-r

@rjkoolraul i recognize a dope dj when i see one. you were spinning that shit well.
filamBboy 1 month ago
@rjkoolraul with alot of help from the hype tracks you were layin down! way to play music that kept the energy up. ive seen many a boring final battle because the dj just doesn't know what to play to get the energy level up

@rjkoolraul
im from the philippines.
Philippines has great dancers with great potentials but one of these days there few and fewer Bboy Dancers in our country .
Its Because they choose to Dance Krumping and almost all of the dancer here know how to Krump
They Just Forget the ART of Bboy Dancing
They just use their Bboy Skills in Krumping not Knowing theirr Bboying can carry the dance and the name of our country
(sorry for poor english)
Im dancing Krumping But I want to learn Bboy now.

@LawkSam i never knew he was doin that burn..you think every single bboy doesnt have the same moves.. by the way im profowon's student(floorgangz u.s chapter pres.)and most of them are my homies.. specially and korean chapter.. either way you say im bitting that could be a compliment for me. so thank you! peace out!

@LawkSam coz that kid is homie of bboy profowon FLGZ, thaz why..Respect
bboydefier 1 month ago
I see some of these comments and, I wonder do some of you really have to find a reason to bash the dance being spread in another country in which it didn't exist a long time ago? Of course there's a bit of biting when they're main way to view this dance is the internet, and bboys who visit from other countries, it's almost inevitable. It takes a while for a country of bboys to build their own flavor. They are young in the game so their still just getting there, so keep a look out.
