The bad TV recording and the good voice recordings -suggests that the VCR was picking up a signal BETWEEN the telephone signal and the TV signal. It simply receives a signal - PERIOD - where it comes from - the VCR does not care!!!!!! For example cordless phones today are between 7.0 and 9.9 Mhz and the TV was probably at 10 Mhz - and the VCR is monitoring 7.0 -10.0 Mhz - for the VCR and picked up the phone signal!!!!! It happens - RARE but it does happen!!!!!
lol "gobble gobble gobble" I used to get in some weird stuff too. its from your antennae. coulda been someone listening to their messages on a cordless phone or cell phone and you just happen to have the right frequency.
I had the same thing happen in the '90s under the same circumstances (tuned in between non-cable stations). People talking on or listening to their messages with a cordless phone that was not 9 mHz.
On a related, scarier note:

This mustve been before your time. Long before they had voicemails you people had answer machines. You would leave a message for the person, and it be be recorded on to a tape which couldbe played back.
I understand that but even if it were an answering machine, in no way shape or form connected to the television, why is it outputting a frequency in which the television or VCR could pick up?
My old vcr did the same thing on certain channels with cellphone conversations. In crystal clear audio no less. Had to unhook just to go back to watching TV on those channels.
I LOVE this. There's just something voyeuristic and slightly creepy about it. I used to have a TV where you turned a dial to tune in to channels, like a radio...sometimes in between channels or at the ends of the spectrum I would hear CB radio communication.
hahaha the gobble gobble gobble part was hilarious. well done on the subs. This probably happened because in the late 1980s the government recycled a lot of old ham radios, and used the parts to make things like t.v. antennas. They stopped doing that after several of the antennas started to pick up the cb radios of truckers, and families would over hear their crude conversations.

Considering you were recording and we were able to see the image, it looks like you just managed to get some random audio shit in there.
But there were three people they asked for in all of that recording.
Cindy, Dave, and Frank. Weird.
Maybe Frank was a repo dude?

how the hell did it pick so many different messages up? unless frank and cindy are the same person.

Frank and Cindy are married and live together. Dilemma solved.

Cindy must have wanted a new car.
Plus, Lori is their daughter, Greg and Gary are their sons (Dave is Greg's nickname), and Randy is their live-in Uncle (on Cindy's side).
Yep! Everything's solved!
