  • Gary Williams great OSU WR he is my uncle and still has records at OSU

  • Great College Football Matchup here

  • Too bad Art Schlichter was such a Fuck Up, you can tell he was a stone cold athlete, quick feet, good speed and a strong arm

  • I too miss those spontaneous celebrations. All in the spirit.

    Gorgeous eye candy 4:35.

  • @franknblunt At 4:00, the ariel view shows just how far the field used to be from the seats in the Coliseum back then. That and just how few fans turned out to watch UCLA football (things haven't changed much 32 years later as UCLA is incapable of coming close to filling the place without help from 40,000 USC fans). Embarrassing. A few weeks later, SC would embarrass the Bruins further with a whipping the that the Trojans would not equal again until 2001 & '02 & '03 & '05 & '07 & '08 & '09.....

  • @redletter2008

What a surprise to get a response, thx. You may have meant the Coliseum aerial view, I meant the babe waving the pommies ; ) Unusual that game was there, but found the actual Rose Bowl stadium construction history to see when the Bruins finally made it their home. I recall that was another season the Bucks lost a NC in the Rose Bowl to the Trojans {; ( Just as tough was UCLA visiting CBus a couple years later for victory. Seems like Bruce had a 9-3 string going until ...

  • @franknblunt Yeah, the gal was a nice sight. This is one of those "then" somewhat regular seasons when UCLA football was successful & capable of beating a team of OSU's caliber. How things have changed! UCLA has been in the gutter the better part of 12 years (since '98) while OSU & USC have beefed up their glorious histories with many great teams, Heismans, NCs over the last decade. SC & OSU - great football programs, fine schools, great bands, fans & traditions.

  • @redletter2008 Thx. tOSU & UCLA nearly paralleled another during those decades. Great coaches as UCLA followed up Vermeil with Donahue while Hayes was followed by Bruce. Few coaches with success like that group. Even UCLA dashed the Bucks NC in 1975-6, that one still cuts deep. Bruins could be one of the most successful during the 80s, quite a string of bowl wins & consistent winning seasons through the mid 90s. UCLA won a few Rose Bowls that would take the Bucks nearly twice as long to achieve.

  • @franknblunt UCLA is in the midst of yet another mediocre-to-awful season. Rick Neuheisel is likely to join a growing list of fired Bruin HCs since Donahue left in '95. I can still vividly recall the taunts of UCLA fans at the Coliseum in '97, proclaiming SC as "Yesterday U" & insisting they were now the national power that would be winning NTs, Heismans, etc. Then the tables turned, big-time! SC has dominated UCLA like OSU now dominates UM. And it was Yesterday U that returned to prominence.

  • UCLA sucked in 1979. The Bruins finished with only 3 or 4 wins in 1979 and got PLASTERED by the Trojans in their season finale. UCLA was the ONLY Pac-10 team that had a winning record against Washington while Don James was the Huskies' head coach and yet in 1979 the Huskies CRUSHED the Bruins, IN L.A. - the ONLY time that the Huskies beat the Bruins by more than about 7 points the ENTIRE TIME that Don James coached the Huskies (1975 - 92).

  • because oregon can kiss my ass and the bucks kicked theres thats y

  • UCLA Did Play at the coliseum for years.

  • @TL250Rider I remember as a kid back then when USC and UCLA would play, both teams would wear their home unis. Even on a Black and White TV, it was easy to tell which team was which. It was great to see both teams get back to this a couple of years ago.

  • If UCLA doesn't kick the shit out of your OVERATED Big-10(11) Buckeye Chumps, then USC certainly will...

Sorry Columbus, can't touch the Pac-10!!!

FYI, UCLA Moved to the Rose Bowl in '81

  • Then why did Oregon lose to the Bucks?

  • The Coliseum? I thought UCLA played at the Rose Bowl and USC played at the Coliseum?

  • Back in the day they split time at the Coliseum.

  • Your right USC plays at the coliseum and UCLA plays at the rose bowl.

  • @BillyBong05 Starting with the 1982 season, UCLA played home games at the Rose Bowl. With the Raiders moving from Oakland to LA that year, the Bruins felt the Coliseum was just too crowded (they were right). That and the fact that UCLA had always felt the Coliseum was more USC's home than theirs', with the stadium literally across the street from the SC campus and the Trojans having been there since the stadium opened in 1923. The move helped both schools further forge their own identities.

  • only thing i didn't like that earle bruce got to much credit for running the table he did that with woody's group he recuited

  • When did UCLA start playing their home-games at the Rose Bowl?

  • Say what you want about Art--he was a good QB.

  • Congrats on posting your #100 video!!

  • I remember this game like it was yesterday!! Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks for bringing back so many memories to me. I keep hearing the names of players that I haven't heard in forever it seems, on both sides of the ball. It's so wonderful to look back. Thanks again.

  • As my dad says about penalizing teams for celebrating , if you're 20 years old and not get excited about a great play or touchdown something is wrong with you. I can't stand the robotization of sports.

  • Guess you would rather have players calling on their cell phones after a touchdown. No that is whats ruined sports is the individual celebration after big plays. Act like you have been there before. It kills me you see a guy make a great tackle after the running back had gained 6 yards and hes dancing....its sickening.

  • Can you be more reactionary to my comment. Yes making cell phone calls is pretty ignorant and dumb, however Im talking about pure and genuine excitement. Well enjoy football without face masks and on black and white reels.

  • There is no problem celebrating after a touchdown but come on. This is a team sport and all these guys are doing is hey look at me. No I'm not old enough to watch a game on black and white but I am old enough to remember when you went college for an education and if lucky enough let the university pay for your tuition to play sports. Half these players dont deserve to be taking a scholarship away from someone that really wants an education. Get a minor league, leave college to scholars.

  • thanks for putting this up, i never knew they played each other in 79'. Thanks for also showing ucla highlights, not strictly osu highlights. I am a college football fan, I love to see classic games with both teams highlights in a game. It's also crazy to hear how young Keith Jackson sounds. Nice comeback by the Buckeyes
