  • water under a bridge??? think'bout it!

  • I am from Holland.

    The slide uppercut.

    England you better run!!!

    - There must be more to life.

    What say you Ireland?

    Love from the netherlands

  • holy crap the Singer looks exactly like my irish friends dad good god that would be awesome

  • this band is soo fucking great!

  • Slainte mates.

  • the singer has an awesome voice <3

  • 14 people are orphans.

  • @islamiaarabia some people just don't know anything about music....real music...it's not their fault :P

  • Dont ever call this song awful....Its anything but.

  • good irish luck guys!!!

  • 14 people are deaf

  • @95brutus no. they're born orphans.

  • @islamiaarabia ,,, you cant be born an orphan.......cause you will always need a mother to be born...

  • @repstar349 A mother could die while giving birth. And a father can die during the pregnancy period.

  • @islamiaarabia then you're still not born an orphan unless the father is dead and the mother died before you were born and then right after your mother died you would be born... then you would be born an orphan but the survival rate of baby's born from dead mothers is pretty low...

  • These are the most thoughtful and educated arguments I've seen posted under a YouTube clip for some time - and spelling and grammar pretty much spot on ! Bouquets to you all !!

  • its the first time i've ever heard this song, and it's as if i've known it all me life! XD

  • 14 people dont like their dadio

  • Why the fuck do I always see pro-IRA/Real IRA etc comments on Flogging Molly videos??? I have to say I don't know a lot about them personally, but they don't seem like the sort of people that would support fucking terrorism and murder. But then, maybe I'm missing something in their lyrics because I'm not fully Irish and live in Britain therefore clearly deserve to die. Pisses me the fuck off.

  • @VeryNeatMonsta There is much resentment based on older injustices. The ban of Catholicism, though long lifted, left long lasting resentment. And as for murder... the life of an Irishman to their administrators was worth less than that of their horse for many years. Many rapes, murders, and other atrocities were committed by the British, even in the last century simply because of suspicion. Though Violence is a hard thing, 600+ years with no lasting true freedom might make me militant also.

  • @VeryNeatMonsta to conclude on that last bit, I'm not certain if they are pro IRA or not, but there are many Flogging Molly songs containing references to past IRA struggles and conflict. Even some direct references to the IRA cleverly included in songs, and even entire songs seemingly about IRA skirmishes that occurred during the first half of the last century. This could simply be cultural remembrance though.. =S.

  • @Zer0Bushi I understand that people are pissed off about the past, but repeatedly picking a scar stops it from healing. English ppl today had no hand in what happened to Irish ppl in the past. In fact, your average Englishman in the PAST had sod all to do with it, it was government perpetrated and carried out mostly by poor, and poorly educated soldiers. I'm half Scottish and live in Scotland and I get sick of the Scottish hatred of English ppl purely from where they come from.

  • @Zer0Bushi Blaming an entire nation of people on what happened in the past is ridiculous. And advocating murder for those reasons? All it does is spread the the idea that Irishmen are aggressive and ignorant. What's even worse is that half the time its American people generations removed from Ireland doing it. I've noted a lot of IRA references in Flogging Molly music but not any overtly supportive ones, but I do have a habit of just letting music wash over me and not studying the lyrics.

  • @Zer0Bushi I am also half Northern Irish, and I hate seeing such hatred on both sides. IMO a lot of people just make stupid comments on Youtube to rile everyone up anyway, but I have to say it works a charm on me.

  • @VeryNeatMonsta You should take a class in reading comprehension. In neither post did I advocate violence, nor take a side in whether or not Flogging Molly were pro-IRA or not.

I did say 600+ years with no true self governing freedom might make me militant. This however does not carry the meaning that you are trying to give it. Though, It means exactly what I said.

  • a pint of guiness and repeating the same damn thing over and over again....all it takes

  • @PyroK8 well.. what about japanese?

  • @shittyfagg it doesn't matter mate!

The opening tunes always get me misty-eyed because they remember me of my own father.

  • next to laura this is my favorite Flogging Molly song. I can relate to Dave King because my dad is gone too, i'm not from Ireland but having this in common with King (also red hair) is one of the reasons why Flogging Molly is my favorite band.

  • Worlds best song !!! like an orgasm in my ears :P dont take it the wrong way all you pervs!!

  • @el890216 Sorry, just did!

  • An excellent and original blend of Irish folk and punk rock!

  • stunnin' band!

  • Nah they're not man. If you really love our music listen to The Dubliners(Irish). Even the Young Dubliners(Irish-American) stay much truer to their roots. But if you just like this bands music in particular thats cool, just a suggestion man.

  • think you're forgeting the pogues! the middle ground between dubliners and flogging molly

  • @Minastauriel87

How these new kids into celtic punk overlook the Pogues is a travesty. My personal favorite celtic punk is DKM (mostly because of their Oi!/skinhead roots) but the Pogues, without a doubt, the most important band in Celtic punk. Young Dubliners are really good, but a little on the alt/college rock side...not that its bad, I'm just saying (oh and btw that was directed towards vitisku2000)

  • The Elders are a really good traditionally grounded Irish-American band, there is so many refferences to history in their songs with a listen! I kind of know what I'm talking about, one of my friends was born in Wicklow .

  • ah yeah, its important to acknowlege your roots but it should never degine or restrict one from blossoming into their own legacy. true with music as much as its life in general.

  • I moshed to this song at ACL.

  • I moshed/surfed to this at Warped Tour last year! Fucking amazing eh?

  • this is the best band of this fucking world!!!!!!!!

  • @Feuermops agreed

  • I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!!

  • a beautiful Song....i love it! Eìre Forever ;)

  • In my life..

    I think I want to..

Sing and dance like a irishman..

Defend my self like a oriental

Meditate like I am from india.

and Eat like I am from the meditarian

    .

  • Basically, GOD DAMN, theres so many god damn good cultures out there..

A irish man should be from ireland, a indian should be from india, and a japanese guy should be proud to be from japan..

If I were any of these, I know I would be

  • Nice!

  • nice

  • Ya Dave is the only irish guy true but the band does play in an old irish folk way with similar words tunes speed and instruments although talvesh is right

  • der typ auf 1:12 is donner entspannt :D

  • most stupid statement ever motherfucker!

if you don't like them go somewhere but don't leave your shit here...

  • I think they should do an acoustic version, where they sing it all like the first 40 seconds, then you could have the beautiful version and the fun version.

  • amen

  • seconding that motion

  • fuck off

  • Flogging molly ! Amazing band ,simply amazing..

  • Dude! Yahoo had a vid for Cochise that linked to this vid,,, friggin awesome flogging molly fan for surrrre

  • this is a great song but rebels of the sacred haert is my favorite one of their's

  • thats a great one to but i like the devil's dance floor beter but tasts differ

  • ya that one would probably be my favorite

  • It's a great song just wish they would have done the whole song like how they did at the begining of the song slow and beautiful.

  • exactly!

  • i first thought so too but now i think they did it perfectly...its one of the greatest songs of them and every line he sings and every tact they play is perfectly placed

in every song he tells a little story and this one is about his father and not only about his good sides...live he often sings "i hope this old bastards watching over me" so it wouldnt be the same message if they'd just do it like in the first 40 seconds

  • I agree, I kind of wish that they had done the whole song as they did the first 40 seconds or so, but it is a great song either way.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that.

  • beautifull! <33

  • A few months ago they played in Amsterdam and i went there with my friends. I lost my dad in a quite horrible way but this song pulled me through together with the friends wich were there with me...

With tears streaming down my cheecks we were screaming all out the chorus! Powerfull and emotional song!

  • Regards to my departed dad on his birthday.

I saw FM in June and they played this song.

Nathen Maxwell (bass) had a broken finger and he still played the full set with the same style and fury. Can't wait to see them in October at the Fillmore SF!

  • I'm seeing them on the seventh... does anyone know if they play this at their concerts?

  • Sentimental, feeling theme, though, if I may state so..quite to my liking, really. I usually despise romantic bollocks, but this is a bit alive

  • Regards to me own old man up there. I hope, daddie-o, that the prices of Guinness up there will drive you to intervene in our cause and make that friendly brew our day-to-day companion. Jesus, everybody loves blighted ale, but we pay for it as it was bloody Special Imported Natural Hippie Organic Platinum Doggie-doo, which may seem unfair to some. Just give us our brew and fun, meantime wait on the cross. We don`t really think being cruxified is our destiny. If you like it, so be it..

    g
