hahahahaha ive seen these toy computers and some of them use standard CDS for the games or whatever i want to put in a music cd and try to get it to play it or mod the toy laptop to be a cd player
that would be cool, some stupid noises would ensue for sure. i'm kind of afraid to try modding it; i managed to kill a buzz lightyear toy with my early experimenting, so i haven't gone any further than short circuiting the vtech a little; i'm saving proper mangling for when i might have an idea how to do it properly!
id just modify the guts of the cd reader and maybe add a cdrom or cd player circuit into it somehow but how would you hack the chips to have the ability to control a cd player unless the laptop has that already which I doubt it does
no true, it's not that advanced. this is way out of my depth of knowledge though, i was merely tinkering! almost all of the track is sampled sound and heavy manual editing in a sequencer, there was literally a little bit of chipbending i started playing with towards the end. would love to understand it more though, you get some brilliant noises.
You can't "understand" circuit bending. Trying to understand circuit bending is a form of hate. Just don't put the full circuit voltage into a very sensitive, hardcore-looking chip. It's hard to really kill a toy with circuit bending.
i can understand it by at least knowing what to look for and what not to connect to what, i'm not suggesting there's no art to it. trust me, buzz is very dead; i made a few connections with a spare bit of wire and he stopped making noise and has remained so ever since. i'm considering voodoo.
Poor buzz ;) Sometimes toys can be killed by circuit bending, but it's not usual. If you want to circuit bend, just keep away from the power supply (except in small circuits, then it's not that harmful) and 99% of toys should survive your torture :P If you really don't trust your toy, use a potentiometer.
@vork666 thats bullshit. advanced knowledge of electronic circuits and you can bend the hell out of it. no knowledge at all and you'll probably just fry it.
What typeof toy laptop is that is that in the music video i would like to know for future ferfrence

ive done this with a tape recorder if you put your fingers on the circuit board pins it will screech, this may work with radios too
