  • Try hitting the front of the cluster when it sticks. Idk if mine is the same problem as yours but it gets stuck at 0 and at a stop I give it a few good smacks and it starts to cooperate.

  • @jass1989 thanks for the help i opened up the cluster on found out the circuit board was loose when i put pressure on it it started working fine it hasnt messed up anymore

  • @a2188r my 1999 chevy silverado z71 is doing the same thing am guna try this first try to save some money i hope

  • im also having problems with my 03 silverado all the gauges turn off when it rains and only the battery light turns on....does anyone know what could be the problem

  • @a2188r The problem is with one of the IC's in the dash unit. since it is all digital it is more prone to malfunction. I had the problem with mine at 80K miles. I bought one and installed it myself in a few hrs and it's working fine. I am currently at 223K so I have put quite a bit on the system since

  • I have a 2003 Yukon and wanted to know if I can change the odometer to say how much miles my gas has left until its empty? I've looked all over the web and cant find anything regarding changing the screen reading.

  • same problem :/

  • @turboooo1234 Try putting it in park with the engine off. Then bumped the ignition over and over to make it go back down to zero mph.Try this it might work. and save you a ticket. Thank you for the comment.

  • this happened to me for my 03 silverado and and then it started lowering till it got to 70 and it wont go lower so when i drive it still moves but to 120

  • @romankhaoz1 As you can see i put mine in park with the engine off. Then i bumped the ignition over and over to make it go back to zero mph.Try doing that it might work. and save you a ticket. Thank you for the comment.

  • I have the sme problem with my 04 sierra plus it says error when i go to the odometer in the dic. and my dealer is saying that there is no open recall on it so im going to give a junkyar cluster a shot.

  • i have chevy silverado 2003 manual transmition and i have that problem

  • dude thats haulin ass!!

  • problem happening to mine too.@005 gmc sierra.Speedometer stopes at 45 mph and goes all the way to 120 mph.Started doing this today in the freeway.

  • @msia40004 I have an 04 Silverado Z71 in which my guages started going fruit loops. My volt meter was the first to go out then my fuel guage wouldn't work. Last thing that went bad was my speedometer which just stayed at 0 and wouldn't do anything.

My truck had about 40k miles on it so i took it to Chevyland in Cedar Rapids which they replaced free. If the truck has less than 7 years or 70k its free. Otherwise your paying out a few hundred bucks. Some say a thousand. Good luck.

  • @TheMagistix $99 completely rebuilt and warrantied, see autoxpresstech

  • @msia40004 ...actually i think its 5yrs or 50k miles for free replacement.

  • that's what mine is doing .

    SAME CRAZY THING,.

    silverado 1500. 03 yr

I did the same trhing, bumped the starter to make the speedo go back to zero,

but that's hard on the starter,.

Otherwise. slverado is a nice pickup and comfy too.

  • Do you know how much the Instrument Panel cost you, because mine has been stuck at 120 for about 6 months. I have an 2004 Silverado with the same Instrument Panel. So if you could tell me that would be a great help.

  • @killakid2910 Under the bulletin I paid only the labor.

  • @brownbear256 we do it for $99, all new gauges , bulbs and there are a few other failures we will prevent from happening.autoxpresstech

  • i just bought an 03 avalanche today and it happened to me on the way home after the purchase. i found a quick fix by removing the whole instrument cluster(10 min) and unplugging it and then opening the clips enough to put a thin screwdriver in to push the needles into the ZERO area. then plugged up, reattached screws (4) and turned it back on. u have to leave the key in the on position while doing this. now its golden, until next time anyway!

  • Dude, I thought my transmission was slipping because it was bogging down right when I was starting off, my speedometer was also not working, I just did this and not only is my speedometer working, my truck hasn't bumped or bogged down once, I think when I started (speedometer would read 80mph) and it may have been trying to get in that gear, which made it bog down, just like you can do in a manual, then after I accelerated some more, it slipped back down in the proper gear...worked perfectly

  • @bamabasspro20 Thank you for the comment. I am glad that you got the speedometer back working. But i am curious about the transmission. I am not sure about how reseting the stepper motor would make the transmission start back working. What kind of vehicle is it?

  • GM has an extended warranty on this issue. I just had my cluster replaced in my 2004 Yukon for the same problem.

  • same fucking problem with my truck!! but mine the battery, fuel, and tachometer! mine is pretty messed up! imma buying from ebay now!

  • My truck does the same thing and me too ill just wait for it to get all messed up in order to change the whole gauges thing so screw it....sucks that my silverado is going through that :(

  • ha yea my RPM gauge does the same thing. i have to turn the ignition on and off several times to get it to go down. im going to wait to get a new panel as long as i can though i am way to cheap to drop $250 for something so stupid

  • Thanks for the tip. I tried it in park and drive but it didn't work until I put it in 1. Now i can see my MPH again, at least until I get the cluster replaced. 2003 Yukon XL.

  • @ziatycoon1 I am glad that you got it working. As you can see i put mine in park with the engine off. Then i bumped the starter over and over to make it go back to zero mph. I never try it in first but what ever it takes.

    Good luck

  • its a bad stepper motor in the cluster for the speedometer

  • @CHA0STV The alternator was check an was ok. After the Instrument Panel Cluster was replaced i have not had any problems with it so far. thank you for your comments

  • hahaha my truck does the same thing! i do that same procedure to get it back to zero too!

  • Was it just a bad stepper motor? My truck does the same thing

  • @WarReserve I am not sure if that was the problem. But they said that they had to replace the whole cluster panel. Thank you for watching my video

  • Yes they replace the cluster panel a week later.

  • Problem with the alternator, (as it says its under 9V) Causes mayjor electrical problems

  • Mine did the same. Had it checked and the altenator was working fine. Mine was the cluster panel.

  • @brownbear256 Oh right, I take it you got if fixed in the end?
