  • My origami teacher can whistle in 5 octaves. His name is John Montroll. So... yeah. His low D is actually low.

  • WHO GIVES A FUCK!!??

  • I can whistle one note. Hazza, my range spans 1 octave!!!

  • i can whistle the 9th octave very nearly into the ultrasonic range, F#,Bb9, and from G5-C7, but the shitty thing is i cant do the 8th octave in between =(

  • I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this. Just from the video I could tell that you're a pretty cool guy.

  • My goodness... I was quite well known back in highschool to be a great whistler (lol) and till this day I still whistle and getting better and better. But lately I've hit the brick wall and can't reach any higher pitch. Any tips on how I can break that barrier? Thanks!

  • @GyariSan Good question. I know there are different kinds of whistling that are best for different ranges. The highest for me is very tiny opening with a lot of pressure, but you have to blow gently or else it gets too raspy for some reason. Are you able to reach the very low range just fine?

  • thats A D4 to D8, thats not 5 but 4 octaves.

  • @ASSHOLELA Okay, true, it's not 5 full SCALES worth. But I meant it reaches 5 different notes, each being an octave apart from each other. Find the nearest Kindergartner to help you or get your fingers out and maybe you can count this all by yourself or help count with me right now. Ready? D4... D5... D6... D7... D8... Yup! That's FIVE. Hurray for me!! I can count even without your help.

  • @hookbot

well okay. ur right, in your sense.

Please do the viewers a favor and change the title then....To something like Can you whistle notes in 5 different octaves.=p.

  • @hookbot It's still 4 octaves though. Also, you're a dick.

  • @hookbot Yeah... that's not what the word "octaves" implies

  • umm...that was 4 octaves, not 5...(d)8-(d)4=4

  • man you beat me, i cant whistle that high, but i'm trying hard to it, i can whistle arround 4 octaves and a little more i think

but i'm learning trumpet and that might help or screw my whistling

    good vid

  • @dMITIC i can whistle just as high as this guy. but not as low. and i played trumpet for 7 years. just finished highschool. i think it helped me whistle higher.

  • @sk8flp33 Hey, I'd love to see some demos of the extreme high whistling. It's so hard to find anything online. And yes, the higher notes come much more natural. I actually think "low whistle" is an Oxymoron. It almost contradicts the very definition of a "whistle" is to be low. Just eat all your BREAD CRUSTS like me, and then you'll be able to whistle those really low notes. And keep practicing. LOL!

  • @dMITIC I took band for 2 years, and I actually played the Cornet, which is very close to the Trumpet. I don't think it screws up the whistling, in fact, I think it helped for me, so keep practicing Trumpet. But it is slightly different lip muscles used for trumpet than for whistling.

  • @hookbot I'm playing trombone right now which i think has helped my whistling but i can't hit those really high notes while whistling

probably has something to do with the different embouchures used for trombone and trumpet

  • 5 D .... -> 4 octaves.... change title please ;) awesome video anyway

  • I can wistle higher than most , but the liptension is tremendous,

hookbot, do you use liptension and pressure to get notes that high or is there another technique ?

  • I'm not aware of what "liptension" really means, but it certainly does require a great pressure on the lips. Can you please post a sample of your whistling? I don't know of anyone that can reach a higher note whistling than I can so I am eager to hear some examples.

  • @hookbot

uhm...I was not saying i can go higher than you, hookbot. But higher than most people is what i meant. you outwistle me about halfway trough the high D, But am almost able to reach the same lows.

Liptension is - i think - the amount of force on tiny lip muscles you use to greate the small hole needed. i think copper players normally use than word alot.

    greets

  • I'm not far off it. I'll have to practice some more

  • that's not 5 octaves, it's only 4. an octave consists of 7 notes and the top includes the highest note of the key you are using. :-S

    but still, pretty impressive.

  • My whistling is horrible LOL. I still can't believe you can do a 5 octave chromatic scale... when I try, it's completely fragmented. I guess I need more practice... GJ 5 stars!

  • i only have like

    2 and a half.

    or maybe even 3

  • wow... you're a great whistler man ;)

I also have a big whistle range... I used Spectrum Analyzer Pro 2007 and I got:

    Lowest note: A#4 (468 Hz)

    Highest note: G#9 (13200 Hz)

    ALMOST 5 octaves :)

I wanted to upload a video of it but I don't have a cam right now u_u

Maybe I can upload an only audio video :)

    hehehe..

    Bye Bye

    (sorry 4 my English :p)

  • Cool!

  • Dang I can only get like 3.5

  • Wow. I cant even whistle though. You're good at whistling!

  • hey guy. Very cool. You're a bit odd, but that's okay.. low D.

  • Yeah, I know it's odd, but I can't quite reach Low Low C at this time. That's why I only demonstrated with Low Low D instead, since I can also reach High High D.

  • I can't even whistle...

  • awesome!

  • LOL, i can't even whistle period... :(

  • This is four octaves. Still not bad though. I can barely span 2 1/2 octaves.

  • u fucking weird piece of shit...............

  • I am probably too.......NOOBYGUH to whistle this way. EH HOOKY!?

  • Thats Awesome.

    Post more whistling videos!

  • Thanks! I only made this video to demonstrate the wide whistling range. I'm hoping someone else in the world will post a response that is similar, but unfortunately, I haven't seen nor heard of anyone else yet. Hopefully soon. Let me know if you see anything similar.

  • I think I can do it. I can whistle about a 3rd higher than you, but I can only whistle down to about an f#.

  • this is 4 octaves not 5

  • hes tryying to do 5

  • Well yes, it is 4 ranges each spanning a 1 octave scale (from D to D). The only reason it's 5 is because you count the endpoints too.

    1. LowLowD

    2. LowD

    3. MiddleD

    4. HighD

    5. HighHighD

That's five D's total, thus technically, this is a 5-octave range.

  • well,if u say u can whistle 5 octaves, u have to whistle at least 6 height of a same sound, i believe. i am amazed that you can play 4 octaves, that's why i wanted to correct you.by the way i can play from LowLowB to HighHighG,that's almost 4 octaves :p

  • I can whistle two and a half. That's freaking amazing. :O

  • oh my god

  • you are still a virgin..

  • That's Eb

  • I didn't just "randomly" choose LOW LOW D through HIGH HIGH D. It's only because that's all I can reach for now. If I could reach LOW LOW C then I would have used that instead.

    Sorry. :-/

  • you did just rite!

  • that was kinda random

    hazzer
