@racerdude43245 the magnetos are essentially short circuited by a small jumper wire that ensures the ignition can't fire until they want it to. If you watch some of the warmup vids you'll see the crewman yank the wire out and then the car immediately starts up.

@cfaulc Now those aren't ignition coils. They are magnetos. They need no external power to fire the spark plugs. They are by default HOT. They have to be grounded to prevent them from firing. Please see the following link: en wikipedia org wiki Magneto

a funny car motor and a top fuel motor are the same thing so it would be done the same way its also done the same as alcohol dragster and alcohol funny car
