Part of the Reason that Danny uses Sonor I assume is because he gets money out of it. And honestly if you were at Lollapalooza this summer you would have seen this his kit is a hybrid of Jeff's drums, Rototoms, electronic Drums and Sonor.

I think this guy plays music. The energy he wakes up with is translated to the drum set and through his parts. It means that even though his energy changes day to day, his parts have the right amount of space for him so that he'll always be able to feel the songs how he wants to feel them in that moment for the rest of his life. That's real life, which is where we all are. Some of us are still sleeping. I think in the music industry they're called posers.
He looks retarded, drumming is in the wrists not the entire arm. And any drummer who plays the exact same drum or cymbal everytime has no improve skills. Idk y ppl think hes so great, hes not bad but nothin special.
Listen to Tool's next CD, and I mean LISTEN. Polyrhythms like you couldn't imagine, not to mention old classics like Eulogy, Ticks and Leeches, 46 & 2, etc. By the way, Buddy Rich, arguably one of the best drummers EVER in ANY genre played with a lot of arm sometimes. Technique is a preference, not a necessity.

A long time ago, I heard a 4-track demo of sober and the intro in that seemed to be just a tad bit faster. Crazy, Danny is most certainly the greatest thing to ever touch drumsticks.
Part of what makes him so good is precision. He strikes every head and note where he is supposed to. The guy is very precise and he makes it look a hell of a lot easier than it actually is.
It's Dannys' creativity that makes him a good drummer. His ability to stand out on the drums in a band that thrives on complex arrangements and time sigs. He complements Tools songs perfectly. And to those who say that his stuff is 'No Big Deal' or easy - Big difference between a cover band and the real deal. You may be able to duplicate it but you didn't make it.
i like how he uses dynamics in his rolls at the end there. not many many rock/hard rock/heavy metal (or more) drummers do that these days (or ever i suppose :P).
why do people constantly think that just cuz the drums aren't insane and crazy hard to play that they're aren't good. the drummer makes drums to fit the song. he can't make every track a solo with guitar and volcals over it. also they have to record drums for every song on an album, so they don't have time to make flawless drums for each and every song. and just cuz you can play a song that they made doesn't mean you're as good as them

maybe technically he is not the best drummer (if ther is such a title) but he is definitely 1 of the best drummers about putting his soul into the music. He is not just goin on rhythms, he is very involved in the whole music.

I remember seeing Pigmy Love Circus when I lived in L.A. and Danny never did much for me. I assume he was in PLC at that time. However, when you listen to what he does on record, you hear some pretty impressive playing.

You sir don't know what you're talking about. I've seen Danny Live and he uses Jeff's Snare and I've met Jeff he's friends with my drum teacher.
Part of the Reason that Danny uses Sonor I assume is because he gets money out of it. And honestly if you were at Lollapalooza this summer you would have seen this his kit is a hybrid of Jeff's drums, Rototoms, electronic Drums and Sonor.
Im sure danny uses whatever feels good and works for the tour.

I think this guy plays music. The energy he wakes up with is translated to the drum set and through his parts. It means that even though his energy changes day to day, his parts have the right amount of space for him so that he'll always be able to feel the songs how he wants to feel them in that moment for the rest of his life. That's real life, which is where we all are. Some of us are still sleeping. I think in the music industry they're called posers.

Listen to Tool's next CD, and I mean LISTEN. Polyrhythms like you couldn't imagine, not to mention old classics like Eulogy, Ticks and Leeches, 46 & 2, etc. By the way, Buddy Rich, arguably one of the best drummers EVER in ANY genre played with a lot of arm sometimes. Technique is a preference, not a necessity.

A long time ago, I heard a 4-track demo of sober and the intro in that seemed to be just a tad bit faster. Crazy, Danny is most certainly the greatest thing to ever touch drumsticks.

It's Dannys' creativity that makes him a good drummer. His ability to stand out on the drums in a band that thrives on complex arrangements and time sigs. He complements Tools songs perfectly. And to those who say that his stuff is 'No Big Deal' or easy - Big difference between a cover band and the real deal. You may be able to duplicate it but you didn't make it.

why do people constantly think that just cuz the drums aren't insane and crazy hard to play that they're aren't good. the drummer makes drums to fit the song. he can't make every track a solo with guitar and volcals over it. also they have to record drums for every song on an album, so they don't have time to make flawless drums for each and every song. and just cuz you can play a song that they made doesn't mean you're as good as them
