why would god need to have a certificate presented to him by his creation? when i spoke to ethiopians in washington d.c. and california they got offended when i asked them if they thought selassie was god. did selassie resoundingly express himself as god? it would seem strange that god would go to church and worship jesus at the ethiopian orthodox church. can someone give me a speech where he said he was divine? i have been looking but cant seem to have luck finding it.

he never said he is God. i am ethiopian, i know for fact that he was just a king and his father was a ruler of the eastern part of ethiopia and his name was Mekonen. that was why the name of the king before he became a king was called "ras" Tefere Mekonen.

in our country we don't have last name (family name , or surname) we have a given name and for id purpose we use our father's name( and grandfather's name in order).

after he became king , as tradition of ethiopian kings, he changed his name to King Hilesilase the first.

don't worry about this baseless claim of his divinity. he himself was once asked by reporter and made it clear that he has no claim of divinity and told for the reporter that he is just a common man.

People should be respected for their deeds, and despite Selassie's flaws, which eventually cost him his life, he was one of the best leaders in all history; cool, bold, visionary. What happened to him was sad.
