Oh my gosh, poor horses. The car horn and such scared them, and then to add on top of that pulling and yelling. Yikes! Even the quietest of horses I know would've spooked and bolted if that happened. Good thing everyone was fine though.
It probably would have been fine had the pole not broken when the horses backed up and jackknifed (looks like maybe the driver overreacted to the horses' slight bit of nerves at the horn, and pulled a bit to hard at first, worrying they were going to take off during loading, encouraging the jackknife, then the pole came loose).... the pole started dragging on the ground, plus the carriage was now running up on the back of the horses (hence the kicking) - THAT'S what spooked the horses!
Was it the honking car or was it the flapping white sheets attached to both of them? What on earth are they and why would you drive a horse in harness with flapping white sheets attached to each side? Looks to me like it was an accident just waiting to happen.
No horse is 100% traffic safe; the drivers honking were trying to show their support for the wedding, not realizing they were creating a panic situation, driven worse by the flapping lace curtains draped over the horses made it worse. A very lucky ending everyone got out without injury.
What the fuck?? Even bomb proof horses can be scared of honking cars I would know because I have 4 horses that are bomb proof and pull carriages and they flinch or just to get away that is the same for my friend and her bomb proof horses
On the subject of people tooting, a girl from the riding school I work in was on a horse on a small road, a driver started honking then he got so close to the horse his bumper touched the horse's hind leg. The horse naturally spooked, knocked the driver's front light out and the driver tried to sue the school!

what a shame that would have been a beautiful pic of the bride and groom riding off in a carriage pulled by 2 beautiful horses...

That must have been terrifying for the bride and groom! Why would they take horses out that were obviously not traffic safe.
