@billy1212ist How about the fact that we haven't even discovered the depths of our own planet and we're trying to find out the edge of the universe? This profession is unneeded and a waste of time. Really, how will researching a black hole help anyone? Dreaming is foolish if it does no good. I'm annoyed that I help pay for this crap. My negativity is being realistic.
@hinatax24 #1, YES,realistic,to YOU'RE logic,or way of thinking.A team just found a lake 2 1/3 miles down in Antarctica, been drilling for 20 years,WOW ! @hinatax24 #2,"Dreaming is foolish" you say? Well, some fool,to you anyway, had a dream in the 1930's of man in space,"Flash Gordon"(Buster Crabbe) in his Rocket Sled, dumb right? This"dream"came true, man in OuterSpace is now a reality. And all of the people who said that it was foolish, and would never happen, are the real fools. The class of people that say,"If we were suppose to fly,we'ed have wings." they'll never do it.And,"If we were suppose to stay under water for an hour,we'ed have gills"No way.
@billy1212ist My comment is really not related to the post but Buster Crabbe that is a name I have not heard in a long time. I met him in the 70's, he was my neighbor one street down, in Scottsdale, AZ. As a kid I was a little disappointed Tarzan could age.
@Wertak68 *Google Flash Gordon, amazing 1940's film serials shown in the Movie Houses. Then full films. To see what Man dreamed in the 40's becoming reality.

Because it's there.
@hinatax24 whats the point of living? you are going to die anyways and after even only 100 years no one will ever know or care you existed. my negativity is being realistic.
take all that you hear with a grain of salt, 100 years from now astrologists will look back at us and say the same as we do about are (Galileo/Christiaan Huygens/Isaac Newton) "they were geniuses back then (2011) and got most of things the right.. but i wish they could see and know what we do now...they would have tears in there eyes...
If space, time and gravity were all essentially dimensions, the fundamental dimensions of existence, then blackholes would be like vents. Time, space and gravity all go horribly wrong in blackholes, maybe because they are like valves, releasing the pressure of space...like plugholes that space is flowing out through, hence their immense 'gravity'- dimensional reality is leaking out of them, sucking in and taking with it anything nearby from dimensional reality as it goes...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
The kind of theoretical opposite to a bubble of gas in water expanding as it rises towards the surface due to lower pressure. Imagine empty space as like water, exerting pressure upon objects in it, squeezing them and compressing them together under its weight, but unnoticeable in the absence of anything material to exert pressure on...maybe space is really 'heavy', not matter, maybe the pressure of space causes 'gravitation', not 'mass'?
95% of the universe unaccounted for as Dark Matter and Dark Energy...hmm, or as I like to call it- space. Space is expanding, speeding up, and there is not enough visible mass in the universe to account for its gravity- maybe thats because gravity is not the attractive force of matter, but the pressure of expanding space focused upon matter and as it compresses matter together, creating higher mass in smaller areas, there is less resistance to its expansion.
Magnificent! Three cheers for NASA and all the organisations pushing the envelope. And thanks to all the people making it possible - in no small way the taxpayers of the United states.
is time a man made invention? we measure time by the orbit of our planet around the sun.(1year)
If time is relative,( variable and changing through space) and time is a measure of movement then the speed of light may not be the constant -the movement of time is fucking with my mind
the title of this show "hunting the edge of the universe" makes me wonder, what is the edge of the universe? i was waiting for some learned person to tell us the definition of the edge o the universe. just what are they measuring?
@horseofblack * The universe is infinite."The Edge" is as far as we can see into it.What was the Edge 100 years ago,is not as far away as 50 years ago.And that was near compared to 20 years ago,and that was close compared to 4 years ago,and 2 years ago it was 100 times farther away, and 1 year ago farther still. And now even farther still. We see deeper and deeper into it,and there is the Edge.....for now.
@billy1212ist ok, bill, you have not defined the edge of the universe either. you have stated the obvious in the observation of the photons coming from out there relative to the expansion. by implication, you define the edge as being the furthest location or distance of light emitting objects or particles. are there no cold particles that move outward from the begining beyond the light emitting particles? does the path of a photon define/cause the progression of the expansion of space
@horseofblack *I don't know,do you? Space is a vacume ,and all of the stars/suns are moving away from a central point, outward.(Big Bang?).The "edge" would be the outer rim of the stars progression in set vacume.I think this, but KNOW this,of course not.Nobody does.A protons "path" is just that,it's path,it defines nothing, but it's own path.If first protons hit,and caused"matter",that evolved into the Big Bang, who knows? I certainly don't.do you?Our minds are our universe,in the universe, yes?no?
@srisanku86 you have set up the conditions that i have wished to express, but let me rephrase your question. using this extremely ancient data about the red shift of the light how can you calculate the current state of the universe? this red shift light expresses the conditions (by video script) near 600,000 years after the big bang when the univers was still extremely hot, i suppose, and still expanding rapidly because of the big bang. it says the further back in time the greater expansion
veanandjean this 'relegion of yours' is 6000 years old but the oldest documunt in history is A tiny clay fragment – dating from the 14th century B.C.E. – that was found in excavations outside Jerusalem’s Old City walls contains the oldest written document ever found in Jerusalem, say researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Do you get it....;)
@MrMounir90 no the 12,000 year old structure has unknown writings on it. besides documents desinigrate. also this religion i was talking about doesn't have scriptures and it did not start in Jerusalem. get what?
In the Qur'an, which was revealed fourteen centuries ago at a time when the science of astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described in the following terms:
And it is We Who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We Who are steadily expanding it. (Qur'an, 51:47)
@MrMounir90 sure but other religions do a better job. one such religion says
"god cast a pearl into the cosmic sea and it exploded, the reminants of the explosion were the material in which the earth, stars adn planets came to be. god sent an angel to stop the earth rumbling so that it could sustain life, after that the angel went to the garden of eden to meet the first humans. the angel saw that the humans did not have souls and so blew souls into them"
what's really amazing is that all these discoveries are only within our own universe. Outside the bubble of our own expanding universe there is an unknown space. It's very possible that there are other enormous exploding stars outside of our bubble similar to the big bang. I wonder if we could ever develope the technology to go past the farthest parts of the universe and go outside of it.
@tristbjorn the big bang is not an exploding star, its simply a model. No one really knows. You don't know, but I think it was a supernova. irregardless it's impossible to test because supernova exploding in our galaxie collide and have different pressures than a supernova that had nothing else around it. The pressure outside of the universe was theorized to be negative according to einstein and the math works out for negative pressure. so you can't possibly know.
lol do you know what dark matter adn dark energy means? It makes up about 95% of matter and energy in our universe. Its just a term physicist use for unknown matter and energy. What they haven't discovered yet.
@TheBlackIdentety I can imagine that to easily be a reality in the next 100 year's, the ideas being put forward and being put into practice. , etc. I can't wait for the inventions in my lifetime, I'm only 18 lol
@TheBlackIdentety Indeed we shall eventually (with the aid of nano technology of course) be able to make ourselves much more smarter, of course not in mine or maybe not your lifetime.
@1123joey Well I think with the appropriate amount of money I could achieve immortality in my lifetime since I'm only 22 and from there infinite knowladge and visdom here I come. lol I'm only dreaming here though. Those kind of things will be restricted to the radically rich and locked awayy from us little people :P That is of course if we do not mannadge to stop the oligarchie from gaining total dominance. If we do then we could build a star trek like utopia in the next 500 years.
@MrMeanderthal It only ends in hell if we allow gready, power hungry mass murderers into power.
For example the promiss of comunism was a utopia but the way in wich they went about building it was the farthest thing away from the end result.
Have you ever seen star trek? The utopia they have is based on the replicator technolodgy. They can turn energy into food and materials.Nano technologie will bring us the same in about 200 years.Take out money and religion from the picture=utopia
@TheBlackIdentety Money is just a simple tool for us to use to messure how much service, items or property we can get. Money is just worth something because we decided its worth anything, otherwise its just numbers or paper. My point is, greed is a human condition, take out money humans will still be greedy.
@MrFelixify They have to be raised not to be greedy.Take out money from the picture and give everyone the same amount of resources and you get a better society.
I always refer to star trek when I talk of a utopia. The model in that sci-fi is very good and given the technolodgie, proper raising of kids and the absence of money you get a society that is as close to ideal as humans can get in their current form.
I do think that these animal instincts can be erased from our DNA though.
@TheBlackIdentety Money? Money is merely the unit of exchange of productivity; there's nothing inherently evil about it and it has driven all the GOOD stuff as much as the bad (in fact arguably more so)
@bigglyguy Good stuff? You're livin in a dream world. All the wars of the 20th century were broken out by money and power hungry bankers. Jew bankers financed Hitler in WW2. Historical facts dude.
Money isn't evil true but it brings out the darkest trait of humanity. Greed (something we inherited from our chimp ancestors, further proof of evolution)
If not money - it would be something else. Humans are far more like animals than we like to admit, we still fight over territorial boundaries and resources. If not for the invention of trade, barter, and currency - human society would probably still be nomadic cave dwellers. Before the mass spread of these ideas, ancient man acquired desirable resources by attacking, looting, and pillaging other human tribes - killing/chasing out another group from said territory.
The basics of our societal rule have not change - the Alphas (those with the means to influence the rest of the group) have the power and means to mate with the most desirable males or females, the Betas (those with Alpha traits but lacking means to influence the tribe on a larger scale) mobilize and organize to carry out the will of the Alphas, and the Omegas (the losers of society) get shit on because they lack the traits of the Betas and the Alphas.
@actracts Well said but still my oppinion in the top comment stands. If we wouldn't have money and everyone would have a nice place to live and a replicator we could have a utopia like in star trek of course for that we need high quality free educatin for all as well.
First we need to deal with the money hungry, warmongering bankers though :P
@omnpmh108 We are the Universe understanding itself, but I don't believe that life exists for a reason, It was most likely all by chance. Energy, matter, gravity, etc all working together and by chance we are here 13.7 billion years later. But all in all, yes I agree, WE are the Universe understanding itself, it not only sounds right, but also makes sense, more sense than someone saying that the bible is right with no evidence.
@TheBlackIdentety Thats exactly right, the very mind blowing thing is that we think we get to the limit of The Universe, and no, it just throws some more at us. I mean, first we thought are planet and sun was the limit, then the solar system, the the galaxy, then we found other galaxies and how big the universe is and now with the quantum theory, hyperspace exists outside. And yes, you make a great point, what if theres something else past hyperspace? Simply mind blowing...
@1123joey Well a branch of string theory says that every single atom in the universe contains a tiny subatomic universe so basicly no matter how big or small we go we'll always find something bigger or smaller thus evrything can be considered infinite.
Quite interesting. Our brains can't even comprehend this yet.
We'll need to radicly increase our IQ in order to further our understanding of the universe. In the future computers and humans will meld together to create a new cyborg specie.
-&, with these 5 S we can only comprehend 3 dimensions
-yet we calculate in Quantum Physics that there are 12 dim [physics-calculus base 6D] (with our limited comprehension its 6-12, imagine if we could comprehend 4 dimensions... how many we could then calculate that existed?)
-Therefor; we do Not have the tools to go beyond our capabilities; just like we can not see the elec, tel waves, &what we see with night vision gargles
Astronomers need stop naming shit they don't kno(dark matter and energy) just like how everyone thought earth was the center of the universe. I think this will change with better technology and little more time.
But there is dark matter, and they dont know if the universe is infinite at this point, just that it is growing. It may continue growing but I dont think the concept of infinity can be understood by our primative brains.
14:34 um circular reasoning, a bit? they used the cephied stars' standard luminosity to calculate distances, but how the hell did they know that these "cephied stars" all had the same luminosity to begin with? by calculating the distances? lol
heck they didn't even know what stars were made of, back then
@schwarzfalk [heck they didn't even know what stars were made of, back then] Back when? during Edwin Hubble's time? Sir William Huggins began spectral analysis of stars back in 1860, long before Hubble's work 1923
@55metalmonkey but did they know the temperatures at the surface of the stars? within the core? how it all works? did they know about the nuclear reactions that went on within the star? about fusion?
@schwarzfalk your statement was "heck they didn't even know what stars were made of, back then". I showed you that they had 60+ years of studying what stars were made of before Hubble came along. but since you asked
check out the work of Father Angelo Secchi. 1860-1870;
Gustav Kirchoff and Robert Bunsen 1895; Karl Schwarzschild 1906; Henry Norris Russel and Ejnar Hertzsprung, 1913 to 1917;
as for fusion, that had to wait until the 20th century discovery of nuclear dissintigration
@HayateAzekura I'm sayin... think of all of the Great Civilizations that have came and gone.... forgotten... then think of the ones that maybe still going strong... Mindblowing. Its a beautiful universe... I just wish we were able to explore it.
After the Big Bang the universe is expanding on both directions and it is still doing that until today. Hence the estimated size of the universe is 93 billion light years compared to its age which is 13B light years only. Let's assume that the MW is on the farthest side of the Universe the the Hubble can see Galaxies more than 14B light years + 600 Million light years.
"hubble sees the furthest Galaxies away after 600 Million years after the big bang"
but before that they say the universe is 13 Billion years old.
so how is it that the galaxies were seen at 600 million after? thats not even a Billion. Remember the say "the furthest away"
so theres more out there, in another documentary i watched it said it meassured our universe, HOW? is that true &then we also hear that like galaxies there could be a Billion more Universes.
@MetalHeart8787 they mean that they see galaxies that formed 600 million years after the big bang. So those galaxies are 13 billion minus 600 million light years away.
@MetalHeart8787 Yes, it makes total sense that there are infinite numbers of universes, and also multiverses of the same universes with variations as well as complete copies of universes. Space never ends in any direction.
Can not take my eyes away from this program...I think I am going to have cosmic dreams tonight!! :> tears for this? skip heartbeats for this? speechless!!!! goosebumps!!?? YES!
@shapetwist - Next time eat your dinner before watching this video, then you might learn something about your place in the universe besides filling your belly, lol.
“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”
― Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
A telescope that can find ANY kind of alien LIFE FORM would be better than a telescope that can see all the stars and galaxies and nebulae. All telescopes can see yet we still have no awareness of life beyond earth.

i thought gravity makes galaxies come close to one another forming a bigger one... am i wrong?
ibonix1 2 weeks ago
@ibonix1
Only if the galaxies are close enough together. Like our Milkyway galaxy and our neighbour galaxy Andromeda. They will one day merge.
But space itself is expanding, therefore everything not close enough together for gravitys pull to take effect will rush away from one another.
That´s my understanding of it anyway...

TheSoulDoubt 2 weeks ago
The kind of theoretical opposite to a bubble of gas in water expanding as it rises towards the surface due to lower pressure. Imagine empty space as like water, exerting pressure upon objects in it, squeezing them and compressing them together under its weight, but unnoticeable in the absence of anything material to exert pressure on...maybe space is really 'heavy', not matter, maybe the pressure of space causes 'gravitation', not 'mass'?
TheSoulDoubt 2 weeks ago
95% of the universe unaccounted for as Dark Matter and Dark Energy...hmm, or as I like to call it- space. Space is expanding, speeding up, and there is not enough visible mass in the universe to account for its gravity- maybe thats because gravity is not the attractive force of matter, but the pressure of expanding space focused upon matter and as it compresses matter together, creating higher mass in smaller areas, there is less resistance to its expansion.

horseofblack 3 weeks ago
@horseofblack * The universe is infinite."The Edge" is as far as we can see into it.What was the Edge 100 years ago,is not as far away as 50 years ago.And that was near compared to 20 years ago,and that was close compared to 4 years ago,and 2 years ago it was 100 times farther away, and 1 year ago farther still. And now even farther still. We see deeper and deeper into it,and there is the Edge.....for now.
billy1212ist 3 weeks ago
@billy1212ist ok, bill, you have not defined the edge of the universe either. you have stated the obvious in the observation of the photons coming from out there relative to the expansion. by implication, you define the edge as being the furthest location or distance of light emitting objects or particles. are there no cold particles that move outward from the begining beyond the light emitting particles? does the path of a photon define/cause the progression of the expansion of space
horseofblack 2 weeks ago
@horseofblack *I don't know,do you? Space is a vacume ,and all of the stars/suns are moving away from a central point, outward.(Big Bang?).The "edge" would be the outer rim of the stars progression in set vacume.I think this, but KNOW this,of course not.Nobody does.A protons "path" is just that,it's path,it defines nothing, but it's own path.If first protons hit,and caused"matter",that evolved into the Big Bang, who knows? I certainly don't.do you?Our minds are our universe,in the universe, yes?no?

1) Galaxy's r travelling away from our our galaxy.
2) Galaxy's that r near to us travel less faster than galaxy's more distance.
3)Actually we r seeing galaxy's in the past much distance from us much past we r seeing
Que)This means the galaxy's far away from us , now will be moveing at the speed of the galaxyes near to us .
This says the univers is slowing down its expansion and may fall into a crunch.
But said another way.

In the Qur'an, which was revealed fourteen centuries ago at a time when the science of astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described in the following terms:
And it is We Who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We Who are steadily expanding it. (Qur'an, 51:47)

what's really amazing is that all these discoveries are only within our own universe. Outside the bubble of our own expanding universe there is an unknown space. It's very possible that there are other enormous exploding stars outside of our bubble similar to the big bang. I wonder if we could ever develope the technology to go past the farthest parts of the universe and go outside of it.

@veanandjean1 big bang wasn't an exploding star.
tristbjorn 1 month ago
@tristbjorn the big bang is not an exploding star, its simply a model. No one really knows. You don't know, but I think it was a supernova. irregardless it's impossible to test because supernova exploding in our galaxie collide and have different pressures than a supernova that had nothing else around it. The pressure outside of the universe was theorized to be negative according to einstein and the math works out for negative pressure. so you can't possibly know.

MrMeanderthal 1 month ago
@MrMeanderthal It only ends in hell if we allow gready, power hungry mass murderers into power.
For example the promiss of comunism was a utopia but the way in wich they went about building it was the farthest thing away from the end result.
Have you ever seen star trek? The utopia they have is based on the replicator technolodgy. They can turn energy into food and materials.Nano technologie will bring us the same in about 200 years.Take out money and religion from the picture=utopia
TheBlackIdentety 1 month ago 5
@TheBlackIdentety Money is just a simple tool for us to use to messure how much service, items or property we can get. Money is just worth something because we decided its worth anything, otherwise its just numbers or paper. My point is, greed is a human condition, take out money humans will still be greedy.
MrFelixify 1 month ago
@MrFelixify They have to be raised not to be greedy.Take out money from the picture and give everyone the same amount of resources and you get a better society.
I always refer to star trek when I talk of a utopia. The model in that sci-fi is very good and given the technolodgie, proper raising of kids and the absence of money you get a society that is as close to ideal as humans can get in their current form.
I do think that these animal instincts can be erased from our DNA though.
TheBlackIdentety 1 month ago
@TheBlackIdentety Money? Money is merely the unit of exchange of productivity; there's nothing inherently evil about it and it has driven all the GOOD stuff as much as the bad (in fact arguably more so)
bigglyguy 2 days ago
@bigglyguy Good stuff? You're livin in a dream world. All the wars of the 20th century were broken out by money and power hungry bankers. Jew bankers financed Hitler in WW2. Historical facts dude.
Money isn't evil true but it brings out the darkest trait of humanity. Greed (something we inherited from our chimp ancestors, further proof of evolution)
TheBlackIdentety 1 day ago
If not money - it would be something else. Humans are far more like animals than we like to admit, we still fight over territorial boundaries and resources. If not for the invention of trade, barter, and currency - human society would probably still be nomadic cave dwellers. Before the mass spread of these ideas, ancient man acquired desirable resources by attacking, looting, and pillaging other human tribes - killing/chasing out another group from said territory.
actracts 17 hours ago
The basics of our societal rule have not change - the Alphas (those with the means to influence the rest of the group) have the power and means to mate with the most desirable males or females, the Betas (those with Alpha traits but lacking means to influence the tribe on a larger scale) mobilize and organize to carry out the will of the Alphas, and the Omegas (the losers of society) get shit on because they lack the traits of the Betas and the Alphas.
actracts 17 hours ago
@actracts Well said but still my oppinion in the top comment stands. If we wouldn't have money and everyone would have a nice place to live and a replicator we could have a utopia like in star trek of course for that we need high quality free educatin for all as well.
First we need to deal with the money hungry, warmongering bankers though :P

1.It happened in hyperspace.
2.11 dimentional hypespace possibly betwen the collision of two other universes.
3.In hypespace among an infinite number of other universes.
4.To go beyond our univers our brain needs to evolve quite a bit. That is out of the picture for hunreds of thousands of years, maybe millions.
5.Who knows? Hyperespace might be the limit.
6.Our universe is infinite from the moment of it's begining.
All the answer you seek can be given by quantum theory.
TheBlackIdentety 1 month ago
@TheBlackIdentety Thats exactly right, the very mind blowing thing is that we think we get to the limit of The Universe, and no, it just throws some more at us. I mean, first we thought are planet and sun was the limit, then the solar system, the the galaxy, then we found other galaxies and how big the universe is and now with the quantum theory, hyperspace exists outside. And yes, you make a great point, what if theres something else past hyperspace? Simply mind blowing...
1123joey 1 month ago
@1123joey Well a branch of string theory says that every single atom in the universe contains a tiny subatomic universe so basicly no matter how big or small we go we'll always find something bigger or smaller thus evrything can be considered infinite.
Quite interesting. Our brains can't even comprehend this yet.
We'll need to radicly increase our IQ in order to further our understanding of the universe. In the future computers and humans will meld together to create a new cyborg specie.

Because;

I just realize that MW cannot be on the farthest side of the Universe otherwise we are no longer hunting the edge of space
