But u do have a point....IF they do have a rematch and Cotto decided to outbox the SMALLER guy (which is kinda funny cos hes supposedly the bigger stronger guy) then MAYBE cotto can win. Although there is still a pretty good chance in the later rounds cotto will get a bit slower and get caught by a big punch and he will be beaten up again. IMO cotto does not have such a good chin as most think he has..whereas the pacman has a much better chin than what ppl realised. He clearly showed it.

The only man who could afford to trade with Pacquiao was Marquez, because of his style. Mayweather wouldn't, because he's not the kind of fighter who is successful when trading, especially against someone fast like Manny. Judah and Mosley are the fastest guys that Mayweather fought, and they both were able to catch him and stagger him. However, they were not good enough to finish him. To finish Mayweather, you need to do it with combinations to the body and to the head, like DLH finished Vargas.
I think even if he kept boxing it wouldn't have done much. When he was getting clean shots in the early rounds it just wasn't doing enough to Pacquiao and Pacquiao's straight lefts through the center was rocking him onto his back foot.

IMHO the best boxing is done at the smaller divisions. The smaller boxers are just fast and have stamina like a energizer bunny. The punch volume in those divisions just dominate the higher divisions. What Manny is able to do is bring those characteristics up to welterweight. Welterweights are just not prepared to fight a featherweight that hits hard as shit.

The most common mistake a lot of Floyd's opponents make is going after Floyd's HEAD. You can't hit his head anyways so GO FOR THE BODY. That's the only part of the body that does not move a lot.
Also, Floyd seem to have difficulties with opponents that has a lot of HEAD (BOBBING) MOVEMENT. Plus, Floyd has a ***HABIT*** of LUNGING/DROPPING DOWN LOW TO HIS RIGHT, WHEN PUSHED BACK TO THE ROPES. I really think PACQUIAO can take full advantage of these. I see PACQUIAO pulling this one off.

You were wrong in your prediction and in your analysis too. Cotto didn't have advise in his corner to follow. Cotto's corner did nothing but hurt his confidence including his father. Cotto's biggest problem was lack of stamina. Cotto may have stamina at the pace he trains but at the pace he had to fight against Pacquiao he just ran out of gas in the 6th round.Pacquiao didn't follow the plan because he trained not to get hit he let Cotto hit him to show everyone that he could take his punch.

If Pacquiao is flabby around the edges, it would give credence to the idea that he takes steroids/HGH. Moreover, Pacquiao wouldn't be able to take body punches because his liver would be shot (in the case of anabolic steroids), and his accuracy would be lousy because of bad eyes (in the case of HGH).
Illegal performance enhancers are a lousy idea for fighters overall.

He did try to outbox manny in the first few rounds but he got hit a few times in round 3 and decided to take the fight to manny. But as u saw in round 4 he got caught with a huge uppercut and he was badly hurt..the whole fight turned around in that moment...the momentum totally shifted to Pac. Cotto tried to outbox again at round 5 and had some success...but its too late hes already hurt n slow.

The only man who could afford to trade with Pacquiao was Marquez, because of his style. Mayweather wouldn't, because he's not the kind of fighter who is successful when trading, especially against someone fast like Manny. Judah and Mosley are the fastest guys that Mayweather fought, and they both were able to catch him and stagger him. However, they were not good enough to finish him. To finish Mayweather, you need to do it with combinations to the body and to the head, like DLH finished Vargas.

IMHO the best boxing is done at the smaller divisions. The smaller boxers are just fast and have stamina like a energizer bunny. The punch volume in those divisions just dominate the higher divisions. What Manny is able to do is bring those characteristics up to welterweight. Welterweights are just not prepared to fight a featherweight that hits hard as shit.

I don't think pac was getting out boxed in the later rounds when cotto got on his bike. I think that pac already busted cotto up enough after the 9th round and he just didn't see the point in hurting this guy more. Cotto was doing better when keeping his distance but he had no power moving backwards. Cotto has always done best when moving forward. Pac was hurting him even more when he was going back. Pac was able to get him on the ropes and bust him up still.

cotto WAS dominant in one round & one round only..and that was in the 1st. After that, Pac used his lateral movements..ie-combos, slip to cotto's left..then more combos..over & over again.Throwing that many punches, eventually cotto's gonna be opened up. Cotto's no brick wall & pac used footwork to open him up. cotto TRIED to shielf himself as best as he could but pac would simply move to his(cotto's) left to make openings.

The most common mistake a lot of Floyd's opponents make is going after Floyd's HEAD. You can't hit his head anyways so GO FOR THE BODY. That's the only part of the body that does not move a lot.
Also, Floyd seem to have difficulties with opponents that has a lot of HEAD (BOBBING) MOVEMENT. Plus, Floyd has a ***HABIT*** of LUNGING/DROPPING DOWN LOW TO HIS RIGHT, WHEN PUSHED BACK TO THE ROPES. I really think PACQUIAO can take full advantage of these. I see PACQUIAO pulling this one off.

Its easier said then done, When Floyd is in his philly shell style D not only is his head covered but the side of his body facing u is covered. You were wrong in your prediction and in your analysis too. Cotto didn't have advise in his corner to follow. Cotto's corner did nothing but hurt his confidence including his father. Cotto's biggest problem was lack of stamina. Cotto may have stamina at the pace he trains but at the pace he had to fight against Pacquiao he just ran out of gas in the 6th round.Pacquiao didn't follow the plan because he trained not to get hit he let Cotto hit him to show everyone that he could take his punch.

If Pacquiao is flabby around the edges, it would give credence to the idea that he takes steroids/HGH. Moreover, Pacquiao wouldn't be able to take body punches because his liver would be shot (in the case of anabolic steroids), and his accuracy would be lousy because of bad eyes (in the case of HGH).
Illegal performance enhancers are a lousy idea for fighters overall.

Agree 100% with you when you said the corner did not help him at all, I'm pinoy and I like both fighters. Cotto needs a good trainer and he could come back. Freddie Roach is brilliant, he's got game plans, he has plans A,B,C,D ...Pacman fights differently on every boxers using different styles, aside from being a southpaw and throws in unexpected angles and with speed and power. He could last 30 rounds in every fight. See him do a concert after the fight, he is insane.

Cotto went into the fight properly prepared around his strengths. The secret weapon he wanted to unleash was his right hook, but Pacquiao took that away. If you look at how Pacquiao fought, Cotto never had a chance to unleash any "long" hooks to the body with sufficient range/momentum to do damage. Cotto had to make do with shorter hooks, uppercuts, and jabs - all of which, in Pacquiao's words, really hurt.

Other point, Chuckylee - the primary failing in Cotto's arsenal is balance. Cotto moves around one foot, the one aligned to his face. Outside of this stance, Cotto can be tipped over easily.
The first thing you learn in martial arts is to strike around your center of gravity, that's true balance. One way I know to improve balance is through Tai Chi or Qigong, but that's too time consuming. If you have a better suggestion, I'm open to it.

Mannys whole fighting style is poor. He has wayyy to many flaws. He lunges off balance throwing combinations with his hands in front of him like he's pushing a grocery basket.All cotto had 2 do was hop back shoot the a hook, move & jab, clinch him, use body work. dont blame cotto..he did everything to beat manny its just that manny is too good for him..too fast too much skill and the power which most of us didnt expect.. he can take out a natural welter weight..plus he can take punches...manny took away every advantages that cotto has..

you still dont get it.. the fight was totally controlled by manny from rd 1 to rd 12..have you ever thought that manny was just letting cotto to box him? manny even put himself by the ropes.. he let cotto banged him for a while and then boom a knockdown on the 4th rd..manny is very smart boxer! it was the strategy to let cotto be confident on what he was doing and then here comes manny with his antidote just like we saw in that fight..

You failed to mention that Pacquiao was able to take Cotto's Big Shots. I think that was the key. Manny was really stumped at first coz he wasn't sure if he could take Cotto's power. He played it safe at first. Once he felt he can handle it, then he started to be more aggressive. It didn't matter even if Cotto boxed the rest of the rounds as well as he did on the round/s he won. The outcome would have still been the same. Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree. That was my observation too. The fact that manny took his shots took the sting away from cotto. Cuz Cotto remains a fighter that relies on a powerpunch to back you off, even when he is 'boxing'. His jab is basically a powershot too.

this must serve as a lesson to those Boxing analyst wannabes never analyze a fight basing on how you think a fighter should fight or what should be the fighters game plan coz its simply retarded. Analyze the fight base on the fighters fighting habit in all those years in boxing and u can include his physical advantages and even his psychological advantages. That's how u analyze a fight not suggesting a freaking gameplan that u think might work! LOL its simply retarded to say the least...
