I always bring an enemy to fight near this city but not so close to where the guards can kill it. Therefore when I'm done killing it, the song will start. Not only is the song rewarding, but I would feel like I'm on a real quest.
Everquest, the real ongoing game, is launching a new Progression server in March that will be time locked. The game will start off with a totally classic server then slowly release the expansions. Unfortunately last time they did this they unlocked things as people beat raid bosses and all the expansions were unlocked right away so I missed most of it. So I thought I would share in case anyone is like me and interested.

I've always wished they'd just remake the original everquest the same way it was, just with a modern game engine, and maybe a few slight changes here and there. The landscaping in that game would be so awesome with modern graphics.

@Russellt0228 I never really cared for the difficulty of EQ 1, but you're right -the world felt real and large because you actually travelled everywhere yourself --something that has really been lost in modern games.
@EverQuestClassic EQ has a timelocked progression server going just now. It's nearly back to what it was back in the day minus some fairly big things such as respawning with your gear (so no corpse runs) or cash having weight.
@EverQuestClassic Oh aye they are about Kunark or maybe Velious now in expansions. So there's no PoK and no Nexus. Travel is done with your ingame feet or a helpful wizard or druid.

It's still not TOTALLY classic with some of it's graphics, but it's only been out for a month. We're still a long ways from Kunark's release and now's really the time to get started. You're joking right? The only thing missing from making this classic, is a few of the graphics (wolf and skeleton for instance) and a lack of some weird pathing bugs etc etc. What didn't you think was classic about this? I played classic, and i'm playing this, and I think it's awesome, and as close as you could possibly hope for.

Orc Hill, Falling off of Kelethin, trying to hit the Priest of Discord with a bow on the lift while not getting 1 shot'd, losing your corpse in Greater Faydark. Just a few of the MANY great things about this game. The music still gives me goosebumps.
I remember plying the noobies with booze and WATCHING them fall out of Kelethin - lmao. Alchohol effects were so much better in EQ than EQ2. 1 step forwards, 2 to the left, 1 step forwards, 2 to the right - lol.
Very excited about this poll in March, and hey, if the current subscribers voting don't want an EQClassic server, then I'll just wait for EQC to finish their project.
Checking in and watching their progression vids they uplink on youtube. Very exiting to see all the work they've made. For the official word always check the IRC, not "second hand" accounts of people.

I don't know why you would say that, EQClassic IS going to happen! Why would you name yourself EverQuestClassic if you don't have faith in the project? The project NEVER stopped being worked on and I talk with the devs and alpha testers of EQC on a daily basis. And I tried SoD, it's good, but I am going to wait for EQClassic! :)

No true classic server would ever emerge without it having to be somewhat different than classic in order to stray away from copyright.Even then they still could do something if they choose, but if it's not truely"classic" they won't lose money for no one wants to play a bent rules server.
All you true classic everquest fans need to bite the bullet and accept the fact that there will NEVER be a truely classic server. It just won't ever happen.Classic days are over, and will never come back.
