Lars is a drummer for... how long... say - 30-35 years at least. He stayed on the Kill 'em All/Ride the Lightning level with his technique.. If a talented person keeps playing the drums for 30 years, I BET he would be far better than Ulrich, and that's a FACT!

I respect his/their work, LOVE their material, but the harsh truth is that Lars is an average drummer! Nothing more, nothing less...

Most of them know very very little musical theory and only have a little creativity and still become successful.
