Hello viperkeeper!! Nice Red pigmy you have there:) I also have 2.2 Red pigmy, and expect babys in the spring:) Now to my question: Where did you buy your enormously practical waterbottle? It seem very practical when you give your snaks water.
Yeesh, big momma shot venom like a spitter the second time she tried to sink her fangs in. So I take it they like to overkill on the amount of venom injected? (I believe it was out of her right fang, looked as if she grazed the forceps(sp)) Anywho, great vidoe as always and beautiful pigmys. With their currently stealth rattlers.lol
Very cool, i love your videos and your snakes. I love vipers too, but i can`t have one now. I`ve had a Bothrops jararaca and B. jararacussu before and they are very cool.
I have a lot of respect for you. I can only imagine how fast my heart would be beating if I was as close to these beautiful snakes as always are. Keep up the awesome videos.
that was crazy cant belive u risked it when u touched the pygs tail and at like 16:38 around there when the snake bites the mouse u can c venom squirt out nice vid
do the little ones feed on something like worms and such at first? that is why you use gecko tails, or is it because they are stiff enough they are easier to feed? [the salami comment] what were you saying about the sawscale on the western side of africa? would like to hear the rest of the comment.
ok i thought of a good question.. whats the oldest snake you have. how long have you had it etc kim oklahoma ps my hamster daffy died im sad.. love kim
so where do you get the tails from, do you keep geckos and take the tails or wwhat
also when you were working with the first snake, i thought that was appropriate, but some of my friends said it was a little rough are they right? those macrops are beautiful with excellent camo
those tiny buggers would make me much more nervous than the adult snakes. So much less neck to hold onto. Have you ever had them quickly work out of your hands while feeding?
Also, when the snake is in mid eat, are they capable of landing successful strikes?
when you where feeding your BIG Momma Sawscale when you slowed down the shot of the feeding strike you can see the vemon shooting out of BIG Momma Sawscale mouth is that normal to see or is that an uncommon xp
damn! thats why i dont want to mess with hot snakes right now. Too easy to get bit, even a little prick can do you, im going to keep to boa morphs for now:)
Al, Im going to ask a stupid question,so have mercy on me, Please! If you heated the pinkys (Baby Mouses) first in a microwave, When feeding your Pit Vipers, would that make a difference? Would it possibly help peak their interest in the food item, or perhaps make them think it was alive, since PV go by heat detection as well as smell/taste? I have always been curious about that thought and have been wanting to ask you. It just seems to me that if they sense no heat, they have less interest? ~Lee
Yes, I would think that water would be much safer as the microwave can cause hot pockets in certain areas and cause burning.I was just curious if anyone had ever conducted an experiment aor know of a study, in where it has been looked into, whether it makes a differece in heating the prey item, in Pit Vipers or not? Thanks for your reply and insight Lordabomity! Cheers!
Definitely use warm water. Microwaves cook from the inside out, so the mouse would be hotter inside than the outside. That can cause internal burning in the snake. I use hot water, dry the mouse off with a paper towel, and use feeding tongs.
!!! O lord !!!! Trimeresurus macrops I love those snakes there so beautiful and there camoflouge is flawless. i actually had to look to see the snakes in the beginning when you showed the box lol. i love those snakes
Al,Love the video the Pygmies are cute. Ms. Sawscale sure has an impressive strike, it's hard to believe so much can go on in such a short time. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
hi m8, the way i do it is to defrost the rats or mice then 20 to 30 min befor feeding i just get warm water and soak them in the water just so as they are warm to the tutch. then dry them off with some paper towl. hope that helps a bit
Not crazy, more like intuition.

The West African Sawscales are very plentiful and like to be where people are, thus they cause many serious bites/ fatalities.
