  • Una de mis canciones favoritas de Enya... Preciosa.

  • Wow... This song proves that you do not need to understand the language to understand a song. I almost never shed a tear when listening to music, but this touched my soul and I actually started crying... It is beyond beautiful.

  • i still cry when i hear this

  • 4:30 is the best for me

  • This is one of those rare jewels of music that makes me physically ache for life, love and beauty. One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

  • @Guigley quite a good comment too :) I heard this again after forgetting it for years - magic

  • If you like this kind of songs try Laurenna McKennit too : same kind of songs and voice

  • I've been listening to this woman for over 25yrs ....and I never seize to stop loving her music. She's been touched by the hand of God! She's Incomparable!

  • MUSICA QUE TE RELAJA MUY BONITA SI LAS ESCUCHAS TE ENGANCHAS ME GUSTA TODAS SUS MELODIAS

  • If anyone decided to make a AMV with this song and lord of the rings I will love you forever :)

  • Belíssima música de Enya, a que mais gosto!

  • bagpipes always give me goosebumps

  • Alainn, alainn ar fad. Chomh bhrónach sin fosta. Beautiful to hear this in our true native language.

  • The ending vocal has to be the BEST part in the whole song :D

  • Enya embodies the Irish concept of what love is; gentle and everlasting.

  • This is my youth. Buíochas, buíochas.

    CK

  • This brought tears to my eyes just listening to it...~

  • Nice. The William Blake poem is probably my favourite poem too.

  • This video montage goes really well with the song, well done. It's like the land is singing it's story, and it's timelessness lifts me out of my own life for a while.

  • love the way Liam O'Flynn make those pipes sing!

  • @AZDesertRose76 MEH it took only 3secs Njoy Smaointe... A Thought... (To my maternal grandparents, literally: "For Hugh and Mary Duggan") Listen to my heart, Forever sad I'm lost without you and your wife. The great love in your lives [1] Will guide me. Be (plural) with me always Day and night. Chorus: Weeping due to the great loneliness The tears, sorrowfully Asleep in the quiet green grave In a deep peace.
  • There was blissfulness But that is gone You followed Your husband. The great love in your lives Will guide me. Be (plural) with me always Day and night. Chorus A thought, on the day You were (both) at my side Telling tales Of how things were. I remember the day Carefree and happy [2] Be (plural) with me always Day and night. njoj
  • This is gorgeous footage, and this is my favorite Enya song, even though it took me years to find a translation so I knew what she was singing.

  • this sounds like something that they should play on a movie that the world ends in. When everyone is alone, scared, and sadened.

  • Beautiful song. Wish I could speak Gaelic. But I've just got the accent. :(

  • @Jerkwad152 What is Gaelic? where is it from? =O

  • @DDerp

    Ireland.

  • I always cry when I hear this song

  • THIS is why i like youtube

  • r these "planet earth" and "life" clips?? cuz they look like they could be...

  • enya`s songs relax me soo much :)

  • i wish this was in a game :P

  • she is a miracle... brilliant.

  • This is the song that started my "affair" with Enya, back in the '80's.

No production layering or accompanying violins, etc. Just the clearest, most beautiful voice I have ever heard.

I have followed her since, and have all the discography. But this is her best.

  • Listen to my heart. So sad forever; I am lost without you And your wife, The great love in your life. She guided me. Both of you, be with me always, Day and night. Chorus: I cry at the great loneliness Tears, so sad, And you sleeping in the quiet, green grave In deep peace.
  • There was happiness, But it went away. You followed your husband, The great love in your life. He guided me. Both of you, be with me always, Day and night. Chorus: I cry at the great loneliness Tears, so sad, And you sleeping in the quiet, green grave In deep peace.
  • @veljans90 is this what the song says?

  • @minier44 yes

  • I think of the day

That you were at my side

    Telling stories

    Of the days that were.

    I remember the day,

    Without want and without gloom.

Both of you, be with me always,

    Day and night.

  • Ein schönes Lied von Enya <3

  • I thought Enya sung Celtic not gaelic...

  • @tysphonebooth

Celtic no longer exists, it died out ages ago, what's left of it is Irish, Scottish and Manx Gaelic; Breton, Welsh and Cornish.

Irish is a very beautiful language

  • from 3:00 fuuuuuck =-O ..NICE =-O

  • Me encanta cuando empiezan las voces en el minuto 4:30.

Super hermosa esa melodia ahi y con sas gaitas tan hermosas........... amo esta cancion de Enya, saludos de mi parte :)

  • Merci ! superbe !

  • Smaointe is Gaelic for" thinking" and is a lament to one who has lost his wife and lover, the center of his heart and life. This is one of her songs that always brings tears to my eyes as it is simply one of her most perfect performances - so sad and sweet...

  • i love to sing this in gaelic :) you feel the song more. i've never been fond of it, ever. but just a couple days ago i got into it :/ Enya is one of a kind.

  • Yeah...the Uillean pipes..they do that to me too...and the language...its so mesmorizing, Gealic has something really mysterious..specially if you don not at all understand or speak it..beautiful...and bravo for that beautiful video, fits the song like a glove

  • his is so beautiful thanks agen for sharin this with me, its givin me shivvers down my spine!

  • Es hermoso lo que la naturaleza brinda en todo su esplendor, Si los amos o el espiritu que brinda esa serenidad habitara en nosotros nuestro mundo seria mas armonioso y prospero en vidaa. Just Beautiful...

  • for sum reason i dont know, this is my favourite enya song.

the soft music in the background and her heavenly devine voice mesh together perfectly.

spellbinding. i am totally drawn deep into my thorts and transported to an unknown yet very peaceful world.

  • Could well be the best song Enya ever wrote. Unless there's a song on one of her first two albums that's better. Shepherd Moons is my favourite Enya album of the ones I've heard, after that I personally thought her albums lost the Celtic feel (although they were still good).

  • A beautiful tribute from Enya to her maternal grandparents... one of my favourite, if not my favourite, Enya songs.

  • You have captured the essence of the Universe in one video... thank you & Namaste'.....

  • Avicied here.

Touching. Simply touching. I love this song, and the haunting tone to the vioces cuts at me every time, especially at 4:35.

  • I've loved this song since forever. My Grandmother just left me last year, and only now do I know a song I have always loved spoke of the day that was to come much later.

The Uillean pipes break my heart. Everytime I hear them.

  • Really great.. This song hits really deep in my heart..

  • that song reminds me of my father for some reason....

  • This song is heavenly and its lyrics means a lot to me. It was amazing how it attracted me about 12 years ago to listen to it for an entire week. At that point I was really down for my granny's just passed away. Only years later I realized that Smaointe speaks about grandparents... I was astonished... This music really has a soul as all of Enya's songs...

  • Could be the best Youtube music video I've ever seen.

    Beautiful - absolutely beautiful!

  • thanks erebus99.nothing is more beautiful than our mother nature :-)

  • Avicied here.

    Amen, brother/sister. Amen.

  • hey i coudn understand this language but still, the song was cul ;)

  • Beautiful editing, beautiful video for a touching song. Thanks, 5 stars!

  • Ohh this song is such a beautiful song!

Enya has such a beautiful voice!

  • I don't understand why we never hear her songs on the radio anymore! We need more angelic voices heard on the radio!

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Such a beautiful song by a fabulous lady. Smaointe is gaelic for Memories and the song is written for Enya's grandparents I think

  • yes.the song is written for Aobh & Mháire Uí Dhugain (Hugh & Mary Duggan)..enya's grandparents.

  • What a great voice!! sounds like a angel.

    5 stars
