  • 4 ALL THE WOMEN WHO THINK WE ALL HIDE OUR FEELINGS , WE REALLY DON'T MEAN TO ! LOL ! I LOVE THIS SHIT , AND IM JUST 27 , LOL !

  • This is the pop equivalent of Vesti La Giubba, from Pagliacci. If you like this song, then look that one up. It is opera, of course but it gives stark meaning to the term "tears of a clown."

  • wow what a tune

  • omgg...I never realized it was this song...i LOVE this song (and ps, so does diddy) ;p

  • Interesting that whoever made this file titled it "Tears of a Crown" instead of Clown in the actual video.

  • Best beat Evah!

  • I can tell this song was edited. Not the original version. But still good.

  • im hurting inside. its terrible. its all a mess.

  • Sandra Dee Lawson.

  • it's a bassoon folks, not a sax nor a french horn. Ever listen to Danny Elfman's movie soundtracks? He likes to use the Bassoon. Listen to the opening credits of BeetleJuice.

  • REAL MUSIC .

  • is that a french horn? for some reason I've always loved that aspect of this song.

  • @wonderturtle1000 Hmmm too low for a french horn. If I had to guess I would go with a bassoon.

  • like if your only lstening to this cuz it was in "im coming home"

  • The lyrics are poetry; enough said? The arrangement could not ever be improved because it is perfect!

  • @deemarie95 I agree! Just experiencing some nostalgia, and I've loved this song, and Smokey, since I was a kid! Don't even know why it came to my mind to look up, but I'm glad I did, and I'm glad this video was posted!

  • @Spanky989 oh ok

  • @Spanky989 not comments....a certain number of views and likes per day.

  • @Spanky989 lolol...nope. If you get enough likes, you may be sponsored and get checks for that.

  • @Spanky989 If you get enough likes...you can get paid.

  • This song is genius!the music and the way they added all the concepts together.Just like he fools people with fake smiles the music fools you with a happy tune.Talk about smart. What a musically inclined thinker!

  • iam 21yr n this is my shit my 40yr old uncle put me on this shit............hell yea

  • beginning of the song: "why are they called the miracles?"

End of the song: "ooooooooooohhh thats why."

  • Sandra Dee Lawson.

  • I saw the score for this once. I about shat bricks when I saw the bassoon part... that stuff is HARD to PLAY. (back when I used to play bassoon, haven't touched one in about 25 years)

  • Where Did u see the Score? I play Bassoon and I would really like to learn how to play that. Its Sounds Like fun:)

  • @Bsnnerd

I saw it in either my old high school's district office or else when looking through the music library while visiting friends at their college, forgot which. I had a hard time with playing smooth in anything uptempo, I so made those sixteenth notes sound like burps or farts XD

  • Reminds me of running the pool table during lunch period in junior high. Oh yes, we had freaking pool tables! And a badass jukebox!

  • A brilliant classic oldie!!

  • I agree with Diddys first 4 words

  • I came here watching episode 2 of Malcolm in the Middle. I never knew this is what the song was called!

  • imagin me hangin out of a sling with a twin turbine 50ml hangin off the Huey stoned as a bastard on a trip an tooting mother Asia's finest Sativa and this blasting out of two speakers flying tree top level with some cherrys loaded - Maaan I was born for this sheeeeit. lol

  • @pnn1567 have u ever watched airplane? :P

  • One of the best-orchestrated "pop" songs ever...listen for the bright opening of the woodwinds-- and the piccolo solos at the end...and the bassoons at the beginning and throughout the song. Check for the trombones...the bass keeps the song moving forward; and there is light tamborine work in the song. The vocal suspensions of the singers "oooooos" at key points in the song that complement the lead singer's voice--Motown really knew how to orchestrate a song in those days!

  • Listening to this song as an attempt to try to cheer myself up after watching the Red Sox collapse.

  • @saywhatsaywell you boston fans are masochists. harharhar and they're off... around the first turn its the sox, in the backstretch its the sox in the lead.... them they fall down with their tongues hanging out and their pants around their ankles.... har har har. You boston fans are big faro players aren't you. Its almost like confusing a cough drop for a suppository ha ha ha

  • How are you're doing? You Tube! I've just wanted to let you know, that your website

keeps stopping alot of your music on You Tube. Thank You!

  • This may be one of the most perfect pop songs of all time. Clever lyrics, great arrangement, backing vocals, smooth lead, melody resolution. Ear worm with the opening flute (?) And a friggin Oboe!!

  • @willissippi My mistake, calliope. Makes so much sense, calliope, clown. Man those guys were brilliant (Wonder, Robinson, Hitsville in general..)

  • Metabolics - Tearz of a Clown

  • what i love about this song is how the melody and music is so happy and cheery and up beat but if you actually listen to the lyrics its so sad he is describing how he puts up a smile but deep inside he is really hurting and the beat and melody go perfect with the theme it is genius and deep! because the music is happy but deep inside its a sad song dope

  • @fool2osis dope indeed.

  • I came here because I knew this song in the 60's and had the albu

  • Love this song. I loved it even when I thought Progressive Rock was the only real music :o)

  • why does diddy hate this song??

  • @buggaluggs14 If I had to guess, I'd say it's because it reminds him of his own sadness, and he doesn't want that.

  • Smile :)

  • This was skating for me.LMBO

  • For all the dumbasses who say they don't like this song just like diddy, he was saying that he didn't like it because it hit too close to home, that the song was talking to him about his life. He wasn't dissing the quality of the song, which is untouchable lyrically and musically. It's a perfect pop song and a classic.

  • @jackiechampion

Gee whiz. I agree with everything good you said about this song. I love it. I suspect I like it even better than you do.

However, with regards to your obvious anger issues, take a chill pill.

  • @gizmo22788 Unless you're one of the dumbasses I was referring to, don't sweat it.

  • @jackiechampion i agree with the first part but nothing's perfect.

  • @jackiechampion Shut up and dance

  • Respond to this video... Pop,that's a fizzy drink!

  • @jackiechampion Who really cares what DIDDY thinks? He's not worthy of licking the bottoms of Smokeys shoes! Smokey is the real thing - an original! Diddy (or whatever his name is this month) and Kanye are no talent samplers. They knows it! Wise up!

  • motown was the best time period for music. People during "The Motown times" lol, had natural talent, not techno, auto-tuned beats or "melodies" as voices.

  • The arc he gets on that vocal during the verse, sumptuous.

  • born in 1986 but god damn i love this song and their style

  • Is that the mighty bassoon I hear in the background?

  • Motown was some of the greatest music ever made - just look at the artists like Smoky, the Temps, the Tops, etc., etc!

  • @barneyronnie

So very true! Motown is one of my most favorite labels ever, and I also regard it as a genre of music. The Motown artists you mentioned as well as numerous others on the label had what it took to make great songs. All that wonderful music the artists did back in that era still sounds as fresh today as when they first came out. Classic Motown rules!!!!

    -Matt

  • this song sucks and so does the other one diddy was refferen to... damn black ppl and ther primitive songs

  • @kezzkezzkezz3 your lack of culture and taste sicken me.

  • @kezzkezzkezz3 Well, if it wasn't for African-Americans there would be no ragtime, jazz, blues, zydeco, rock n'roll, funk, disco, house, techno, rap...basically the entire 20th century of popular North American/European music.

  • @andmaketherain PREACH! You got that right!

  • @kezzkezzkezz3 hahaha you suck. these "primitice songs" are the foundation for just about any decent song you hear today. dont be naive

  • @HavinFun805

Genius knows no bounds of color...

  • @HavinFun805 Should have said - I agree.

  • This song is amazing...who cares about diddy!?!?!? JEEZ!

  • @Spanky989 cause most people are losers and their life sucks so much that getting a thumbs up on youtube is somewhat comforting to them.

  • @ninjatoothpaste P-Diddy...Diddy Dirty Money

  • @MissLivelyfe What does he do? I looked on google but it only says he's a rapper, but what is he famous for? To be so famous he must have done something worth mentioning right?

  • @ninjatoothpaste P.S. I'm British so I don't know who American famous people are heh :)

  • Didn't know this came out in 1970, it has more of a mid 60's sound

  • @shthd84

The musical track was written in 1966 by Stevie Wonder and he brought it to Smokey Robinson who came up with the lyrics. It was released as an album track in 1967. Motown UK released it as a single in 1970 and it became a big hit, which made Motown do the same in the US and it became #1 here too.

  • Thumbs up if no song and no diddy bought you here...You just plain old searched for it as it is a SUPERB song!!

  • @JERSEY270391 Specials first then came here for the original.

  • @EricSeanPayn oops I meant the Beat!!

  • @JERSEY270391 LOL

  • @THEnastymotherfucker

    WTF is "Diddy-Dirty Money"??

  • @sevven1 areyo stupid or over 40 years of age?

  • @uknowwit100

Thanks for answering the question, and any I might have for you, all in one fell swoop!

  • @sevven1 A "diddy" is a puff daddy I believe. :) and he mentions this song at the start of coming home.

  • @EricSeanPayn, @uknowit100, and anyone else who didn't/doesn't "get it".. My question was asked in sarcasm.

Mr Combs, his juvenile and bizarre penchant for commercial self-aggrandizing, and the 'music' he allegedly 'makes', hasn't, doesn't, and probably never will, impress me at all.

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' videos shouldn't be sullied with this shit.

    ~Peace~

  • @sevven1 I too was being sarcastic, hard to tell in text aint it :P

  • @EricSeanPayn Yeah, it sure can be sometimes. : |

  • This song sums up how I feel for a certain someone. Anyone else? :( Anyway, my favourite Motown song.

  • I always feel like there talking to me when it comes on.

Thumbs up if 'coming home' is why u searched this

  • Master piece of lyrics, music by Stevie Wonder
