I`ve got one, is incredible, the 3D is beautiful, amazing, i`ve bought two 1800 mAh battery from eBay, the mini HDMI cable and a lot more accessories, they are making the changes to can install Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on it, it´s just the best phone right now! It coast me 199 euros on Vodafone and I`ve unlocked it for 8 euros!

its different, on the 3DS u got the 3D effect through 2 displays.

A comrade of me has this mobile phone, and after a while staring into the display my eyes began to hurt, especially when u play games on it.

Probably/Maybe thats the reson why Nintendo choosen a different technic for their 3DS.

You better try it out in a store. And decide for urself.

The games and movies in 3d are a big yes. Don't buy this with 3d photos or video in mind though. It's bad... really bad. The camera lenses are too close together and should be at least 2.5" apart (like your eyes). Get a Fuji 3D for pics but as phone that plays games in 3D I think its pretty dam cool really.

Hmm no comment on the battery life. Undoubtedly the 3d aspect of it is going to drain the battery with fair use of it. I would probably wait a few months and see what other handsets enter the market with better specs

@qwerty23O The Sensation sounds a good choice if you aren't interested in 3D. But do not assume 3D will give you headaches as many people give up too soon. The 3DS DID make me feel ill at first, but it stops doing that the more you use it. So by the time I got my Optimus 3D, it didn't have any negative effect.

If it doesn't go away, get an eye test as you might need glasses. I think the 3D tech just shows more people need glasses than they think.

We can't comment on the battery life of the model we tested unfortunately as it was a prototype. Like all smartphones though, how well the battery performs depends on what you're using it for, but the 3D elements may drain the battery life a little faster than on other devices if they aren't used wisely!

At first I was a little disappointed, but that was only because I was playing with it for 6 hours straight. When used more conservatively (which you expect in a normal day to day use) it lasts a day quite easily.

Also, the screen looks a lot nicer than in this video. My only complaint is the camera is far far inferior quality to the Galaxy S2 but then that can't do 3D so no contest for what I wanted it for.

@qwerty23O hey man i dont know if someone else replied to you or not but i have this phone. on the day i got it i used it almost non stop testing all its features and the battery lasted 9 hours. Some apps drain it faster than others but now i use it like a normal phone it lasts me give or take 15 hours before i put it on charge again.

Both are extremely similar handsets spec-wise so it really boils down to whether you want the added extra of 3D effects or not! The LG Optimus 3D has a slightly bigger screen - 4.3-inches instead of 4-inches like the Optimus 2X. However, the Optimus 2X has a better camera - 8MP in comparison to the 3D's 5MP one (although that is dual-lens so you can take 3D photos/videos).

For example, recording/playing video in 3d (on the device itself) while on a sunny vacation in Southern Spain(or any where the sun shines). Will the 3D effect (on the device) work while wearing polaroid sunglasses.

I never said anything about watching 3D on my TV or Moniter. :p

@jakentos it depends what 3d tv you have. i got a active 3d tv so i would have to wear active glasses but if u got a passive 3d tv like some of the ones that LG sell at the moment then u wear polarised 3d glasses. The 3d technology the Optimus 3d uses is "side-by-side" so will work on all 3d tvs and moniters.

Nice review. But like all reviews, you made a mistake. It isnt the first 3d smartphone. In japan and korea sharp has released a 3d smartphone years ago. Sharp is also the manufactor of the 3ds displays, because of that!

Both are great smartphones so it really boils down to whether you'd prefer the added extra of a 3D display or not. However, the Galaxy S II is slightly faster than the LG Optimus 3D as it has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor rather than a 1GHz dual-core processor. Technically speaking, the Galaxy S II has a better display as well - Super AMOLED Plus - whereas the LG Optimus 3D has an LCD display.

Unfortunately we can't comment on the battery life as the handset in this review isn't the final product. Of course, the 3D elements may drain the battery a little but as with all top-range smartphones, how long the battery lasts depends on what you're using it for.
