  • from newcastle....wor horse.

  • Looks like a real horse

  • incredible!

  • Its such an amazing film and book i wud luv to see it in theatre thats amazing how they work that horse

  • Im happy Joey didnt eat the little girl!

  • THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!!!!!! XD

  • head movements are just like the real thing. awsome.

  • i like when they're turning Joey around and the Cpt Nicholls slapped its backside, it actually reacted so well! xD

the only thing they could do to make it better would be to make better whinny sounds... the squealing is a bit foalish ;D

  • soo can i ride that thing or what is that cool?

  • suberb show in Little London Theatre. Film is very good too...tissues needed!

  • They've managed to make the movements so realistic, I'm impressed!

  • War Horse will be back at Sandown Park on Friday 17 February for Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day. We can't wait to see the puppet Topham in the flesh again.

  • It's eight legged Sleipnir! :P

    Excellent work, extremely convincing!

  • AMAZING XX

  • i want one its awsome!!!

  • OMG !!!! So Joey in the movie was actually a puppet ?! No way !!! That makes me kinda mad I mean really people this is supposed to be a " real " horse movie not a puppet horse movie :|

  • @abbie0621 No no no! First came the children's book, then the play (for which the puppets were created). Then Spielberg created the movie with real horses. This clip is from the British stage troop.

  • @abbie0621 no the puppet was for the play xD

in the movie it was a real horse

(i might be wrong though but i'm pretty convinced)

  • @abbie0621 Haha no the movie was based off a book, which was made into this AMAZING Broadway play and they used these puppets.

  • Fake, and is this was real, would they use this as Joey in the movie?

  • They make Joey look so real and act so real! Bravo!

  • that is so cool!!! but it's funny because you know it's fake! :D

  • Most amazing thing I have ever seen :O

  • Too cool

  • This is the most fantastic thing I've seen in my life. Thank you, thank you for creating and perpetuating this amazing puppet! :-)

  • "So what part did you play in the movie?"

    "The back-end of a horse..."

  • It looks so real!

  • this is blowing my mind

  • If they covered that with fur... *o*

  • a horse with 8 legs?

  • @signboyy Must be Odin's horse Sleipnir.

  • The play was amazing! You completely forget that the horse puppets are fake, and they're able to make you laugh and cry :') Who else watched it?

  • dude, I only realized the horse head was controlled by the guy not IN the horse! The horse head puppeteer was literally invisible to me until the little girl wanted to feed the horse @_@

  • Wow. Awesome. They have the movements down so well. You forget it's not an actual horse

  • I didn't even notice the guy holding the head was actually directing its movement until halfway through the video! Awesome!

  • The puppeteers would probably have become unbearably uncomfortable inside that costume had it been covered, and I agree that the design is so good and the acting so well-executed that covering it wouldn't have added much. AMAZING!! As someone who rode as soon as I could walk, I'm VERY impressed!

  • Having spent around 20 years around horses, I can say these guys nailed it. uncanny!

  • pretty awesome new movie based on this play

  • THAT'S AMAZING!!!!! I WANNA BUY THAT!!!!!!!

Is that the "horse" to play Joey in War Horse or is that just display??(If it is, then im like screw this movie. But i'll still watch it.

  • @Freisian21 its one of the horses used in the stage performance(play)

  • woa......

  • amazing, just amaizing all the horse movement were perfect, really good job!

  • This is amazing! I think it would definantly be cooler with fur and stuff but still, it's just fine this way. This is just. WOW.

  • AMAZING

  • I don't need the horse to be covered in fur or anything else to cover it up. For me, this is such a brilliant design and idea, that I don't even notice the two men acting as legs inside. Magnificent.

  • i didnt know horses had 8 legs

  • @skittles3888 Well, you're saying 'horseS' - so, of course, two horses would have eight legs between them.

  • This is phenomenal.

  • Had to look twice to get what was going on here !

  • im not saying its not go its absolutley fantastic, but im surprised they didnt cover it in fur or something to hide the people inside a bit better, that would make it more realistic for me :)

  • @DashFuzzieTail

I went to see the play earlier this year and like you I thought that the puppets could have hidden the actors better but , it is so good that after a bit you really do not notice them at all.

The animation is top class and as a person who works with horses I was looking out for 'faults' and saw none.

  • @Foxhunter49 wow, a play so good it makes it seem real must be a good watch! :)

  • OHEMGEEEEEE!

This is amazing! I actually can't get over how brilliantly this is made! And it acts just like a real horse, it's just brilliant!

  • Went to see the play last week in London - absolutely incredible. You actually believe those horses are real!

  • my cheeks hurt cos i've been smiling for the last 4.18minutes.

    fantastic!

  • Wow! Fantastic!

  • oh god @@

  • Scaringly animated...

  • The first time I saw this thing on the Tony Awards, I had to do a double take, and I have 9 real ones in my front yard...

  • that looks brilliant!

  • Awesome!

  • wow that joey is awsome are u going to be in the U.S.A some time soon I would like to see him in person

  • @CowgirlMs36 the broadway play 'war horse' is currently playing in New york, and is getting another show in L.A

  • I cannot wait to see this on stage if it comes to Los Angeles. The storyline sounds good and the movement of the puppeteers make this so believable I feel that I am looking at a real horse. He's absolutely beautiful.

  • the "horse's" actions were so lifelike its unbelievable

  • Amazing.. you almost forget its not real.

  • Love this & loved the book!

  • Amazing connection between man and horse...

  • The only two people to actually dislike this video were probably the horse actors, lol.

  • Brilliant!

  • oh oh oh ! I read the book that this is based on! good book. o_o

  • quite an evolution from the panto horse! brilliant.

  • I would give anything to see this show. I live in Fla., and yet I so hope it comes here.......I cannot afford to go to NYC. This is the most amazing piece of work I have ever seen with puppetry. All I can say is absolutely, fantastic. I know I would cry my heart out to see the moving relationship between the boy and horse. Having always been a horse lover and one time owner, the movement of the horse is down pact. or spot on. Jeese, if only I could see this play. Bummer I cannot..

  • it's so cool! I love horses! I would like to have one such in my room <3 :D =D

  • the only flaw is that it does squeak ever so slightly when it walks, but it really is the most amazing puppet I've ever seen..

  • This puppet kicks sooo much ass. I LOVE it !

  • My sister asked "why?" I asked "why not?"

  • Its so cute how it sniffs at the camera XD

  • Is this Sandown Isle of Wight?

  • @inamonianim No, this is Sandown Racecourse, near Esher in Surrey.

  • Very, very clever!! I love it and shared it on face book! :-P

  • The mannerisms and movements were so spot on. For anyone who has a horse or simply loves horses know how complex each gesture is. Stunning. I can't wait to see the play.

  • All this rude comments you can fuck of.. i bet noone could do this soo keep youre rudness yto yourself

  • @kimlisenko Exactly like a horse with 8 legs maybe...

  • I have seen this play and it is stunning! Anyone that says it's a stuipid play is clearly

    Off their heads!

  • amazing...

  • cool horses stupid play

  • @NiteAngel

    Seriously?

    No.

  • That is freaking cool.

  • omg, thats well weird

  • how does it move? :L

  • Look at the jockeys watching in the background!!

  • ha, he said they watched youtube a lot...

  • 'i cat believe i just asked to turn the horse around' hehe

  • The movement is so lifelike, they really paid attention to horses' mannerisms

  • This is amazing! I would LOVE to have a go with one of these!
