Brohoop, "IG" is intergranular corrosion, often called exfoliation. IG means that corrosion is in between the grain in the metal. Sometimes easy to detect, like a rotting board where you can see the decay and other times you cut it before seeing the decay. The surface of a casting can look ok but poke it with a scribe and it sinks in. Cover the metal with sealant, the crew would never see the weak structure. Paint on a rotting 2x4 and it would look ok. A possible cause of break up was poor maintenance at an A/C Depot. I woorked a lot of wings on the C 130 and there was a lot of IG Corrosion and cracks. The ig would sometimes be covered with sealen. It can't be seen by a crews preflight inspection. I once gave up my stamp because I would not sign off on a spar casting full of IG. It was a C 130 A. Maybe same A/C? It is sad that tax dollars are spent to prevent something like this, to have someone sigh off paperwork & innosent lives lost.

Or maybe you're just stupid as shit and think Youtube is only available to you ground crew types and I should apologize for being a jerk. Either way, I'll go out on a limb and admit I am not familiar with what IG stands for and I wish you'd explain to all us inferior folk.

Not fake. It was my good friend Steve Wass who flew the plane. He was living in Gardnerville,NV and flying out of Minden,NV. Awesome pilot and great drummer. God speed Steve.

Its not fake. Hawkins and Powers aviation was based in Greybull, WY and has gone out of business since this happened to another aircraft of theirs. Greybull airport had a lot of firebombers stationed there... I know because I visited there and talked to them. It IS NOT FAKE. RIP the brave pilots.
