Trumpet Maintenance : Repairing Trumpet Caps

my valve caps are always geting stuck NOT and so i just simply get a sledge hammer to my Euphonium

Umm, I think regular maintenance will keep the top and bottom caps from stick. In 41 years of playing trumpet, I've NEVER had ANY caps get stuck!! And I certainly cant imagine the top caps getting stuck. Heck, I just bought a 60 year old Getzen Super Deluxe, and the caps were fine!!

No? oh well then don't tell the ones who are how to do their job and they won't tell you that the reason your trumpet sounds like crap is because of the player... and btw this video isn't really about repairing anything, its more of how to remove a stuck top or bottom cap. thank you very much for the good video.

I think they are missing some important info here; the trick is to use the right tool and hammering slightly over the threaded piece can help loosen it up if it is seized. You can really make things worse if this is done improperly and if the treads are cross threaded or stripped the problem could get worse.

Rawhide hammer is ok, tap, dont hit, if you keep the buggers clean and greased it should never happen., grease inside the caps.
