  • Very well done. Good pacing, and all parts were clear. Hope you do more!

  • What size hook do you start using chenille instead of dubbing for the body?

  • i tied one and it sucked... it was all black and i tied my saddle hackle the wrong way.

  • what kind of durable hook should I use to keep this wooly and don't rust ??!!

I almost tried every type of hooks, but all would rust at some time :(

2nd where to find all this material ur using ?!!

it would be great if u wrote down all the materials tin the vid info.

  • I can catch almost any fish with a bugger!! I use heavy copper wire to really weigh down a black bugger to get Walleye near the bottom to bite during the day!! Get creative with colors. White yellow and green. Use two colors of chennile sometimes.

  • something i discovered is that before you tie on the maribou take 2 or 3 strips of flash 4 to 4.5 inches and tie it right behind the rib make sure its longer than the maribou and dont over do it once you get the hang of it you will be ripping out smallmouth

fish in little pools where current is easy slowly pull around rocks with a little twitch let the current wiggle the flash this is what catches the small mouth enjoy

  • Now is hackle a special thing or will a feather with a thin stem work???? could use advice from anybody please respond!!!

  • Wow very nice now are these good for small mouth??? i just started fly fishing!!!

  • @jaguarsphenom32 yes it wors really well for smallies and you might catch an occasional carp or so...

  • That's a great video, very talented

  • dude im soo damn pissed...ive never seen a wooly bugger that perfect...im soo damn jealous...i get get sum from you T_T i got 2 wooly buggers and their tail is sooo small...the shop guy was cheap to use the maribou feather...

  • Whatever.

  • willyyyyy woolly

  • do u have to put a wire rib on?

  • No, but the rib will help it stay on and last longer.

  • I disagree with bltp's previous post.

The lead is an integral part of this pattern. I often weight the first 1/3rd of the fly. A bead head works great too. The jig action from the additional weight is absolutely essential.

  • personally im not a fan of the lead. i tie my buggers with no lead so that they swim jus under the surface. or if i go deep i use a gold bead head. but nice tie none the less

  • wow youre good

  • nice tie. i need to get some of that nice hackle, all my hackle is crappy.

  • does pike bite on this one?

  • Yes.. ;D

  • Thanks, very good. I'm new at this - at times it seems you are winding the thread in one and then the other direction. Is this true or is it a trick of my eye? I mean are you always winding the thread on in one direction only?

  • you only go one direction but sometimes you have to undo one stepp so you unwind the thread

  • Nice! Thanks.

  • very nice presentation!

im off to make myself some of these now :)

  • Decent demo. Shiny side forward gives the hackle a natural curve to the rear snowman. It is such a bulky fly that it is not necessary to always strip the fibers from the material on the larger sized hooks. Must be a 12 year old a few comments back who just learned a new word. Silly. That kind of mouth doesn't belong in fly tying/fishing.

  • this is excellent, but is the lead wire manditory? or is it just used to make the Wooly Bugger drop faster?

  • Well done...

  • how do you get the feather fibers to face backwards? I use saddle and it faces to the front.

  • excellant presentation of how to do the wooly bugger fly
