@leelee403 The crew vote on everything, Jacks crew voted to depose him and place his first mate Barbossa in charge, they could do that if the crew thought the captain wasn't looking out for their intrests enough. Several less famous pirate captains have been marooned because of mutiny. Jacks crew mutinied as they didn't think he could lead them to treasure, a problem shown at the start of Dead Mans chest

The only problem with this free naval career was that the Government could say 'Henry who?' if he was captured. The British gave him ships and a knighthood for his services. But he did accidentally sink both flagships the British gave him. Good in a fight, bad at preserving ships

The Black Spot is actually fictional... not historical. It may have historical roots, in that pirates sometimes showed a traitor an Ace of Spades to put them "on the spot" that their life was in danger. The idea of just a block spot comes from Robert Louis Stevenson's novel "Treasure Island".
